Chain Store Sales Collapse Following Already Disappointing Black Friday
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/08/2015 08:26 -0500Just as we warned, based on credit card data, this holiday spending period is a disaster. Following disappointing sales over the Black Friday to Cyber Monday weekend, there has been absolutely no follow-through momentum as is usually seen. Chain Store same-store-sales crashed 6.3% week-over-week...
6 Of 8 Trump Supporters Stand Behind Muslim Travel Ban; Muslims Furious
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/08/2015 08:12 -0500"We're gonna have to figure it out, we can't live like this. It's going to get worse and worse, we're going to have more World Trade Centers. It's going to get worse and worse, folks. We can be politically correct and we can be stupid but it's going to be worse and worse." Donald Trump said even as an AP summary of Muslim reactions to Trump can be summarized as follows: "He's trying to alienate not only the Muslim population of the United States but all the Muslims around the world."
Crude Crashes To $36 Handle - Down 15% Since OPEC
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/08/2015 08:08 -0500How many times were we told that an OPEC decision was "priced in" - well it wasn't. WTI is now down 15% from pre-OPEC and has crashed through the $37 level for the first time since Feb 2009... time to catch a falling knife (again), or fold on all those 'recovery' bets?
World's Fifth Largest Miner Announces Massive Layoffs, Suspends Dividend, Sells 60% Of Portfolio
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/08/2015 07:41 -0500If you're in the commodities business, this is “not the time for courage” (to borrow a classic Gartman-ism). In the latest example of just how bad things have gotten, Anglo American - the world’s fifth largest miner - just kitchen sink-ed it, announcing a sweeping restructuring, a massive round of layoffs, and a dividend cut. The company will reduce its assets by some 60% while headcount will be cut by a whopping 85,000 or, nearly two thirds.

Trump Demands "Total & Complete" Shutdown Of Muslims Entering America: Full Recording Of Trump's South Carolina Rally
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 23:43 -0500Having exclaimed "is that all there is?" following President Obama's speech last night on how he would make Americans safer, Donald Trump appears to have decide to take matters into his own hands. The leading Republican presidential nominee has called for a "total and complete" moratorium on allowing Muslims to enter the United States...
Suicides In Alberta Soar In Wake Of Canada's Oilpatch Depression
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 23:40 -0500The suicide rate in Alberta has increased dramatically in the wake of mounting job losses across the province. According to the chief medical examiner's office, 30 per cent more Albertans took their lives in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. "This is staggering," said Mara Grunau, who heads the Centre for Suicide Prevention. "It's far more, far exceeds anything we would ever have expected, and we would never have expected to see this much this soon."
George Orwell, Edward Bernays & Perpetual War
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 22:00 -0500George Orwell explained the cynical mechanism of Perpetual War in "1984" as a means to control the masses through terror and scarcity. Western Civilization has been embroiled in various continuous wars since Hitler invaded Poland. The Western public has passively abided Perpetual War, not because of scarcity, but because of consumer abundance, which was developed by virtually anonymous men like Edward Bernays in the 1920s. This is how men in the shadows transformed the American citizen into the American consumer, thus turning the public into a docile, unwitting accomplice in the mayhem which envelops the globe which so enriches those on high.
China Chokes As Beijing Issues "Red Pollution Alert" For First Time Ever
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 21:30 -0500Just a week after Beijing's major literally had his head saved, thanks to a cold front which swept away some of the worst pollution ever, the city has raised the alarm once again.. but this time to a record level. For the first time ever, the municipal government has issued a so-called red pollution alert - imposed car bans and suspending schools - after acrid-smelling haze returned to the Chinese capital.
Peter Schiff Warns: "The Whole Economy Has Imploded... Collapse Is Coming"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 21:17 -0500"We’re broke. We’re basically living off of debt. We’ve had a huge transformation of the American economy. Look at all the Americans now on food stamps, on disability, on unemployment... The whole economy has imploded... the bottom hasn’t dropped out yet because we’re able to go deeper into debt. But the collapse is coming."
Weimar Greece - The Effects Of A Currency Collapse
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 21:00 -0500While no longer making headlines in the mainstream media, cash remains a scarce commodity in Greece. In response, Greeks have done what all people do when they cannot get enough currency - they improvise. Greece is right where Weimar Germany was in late 1922... In 1922, as in 2015, virtually everyone failed to recognise that monetary movement is circular in nature, not linear. All payments, for all goods and services, impact each other, in a domino effect.
China Trade Plunges, Yuan Tumbles Near Lowest Level In 4 Years
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 20:51 -0500With just nine days until The Fed - which has prepared the world, apparently - will raise rates for the first time in years (and potentialy suck up to $800 billion of liquidity from the global collateral chains of shadow stability), it appears China is doing its best to start some destabilizing efforts (which worked last time). None of this is helped by the collapse in China trade (with imports down YoY for a record 13th month, and exports falling for 5 straight months).
Will The IRS Take Your Passport?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/07/2015 20:00 -0500A little-noticed provision in the highway funding bill Congress passed this week threatens a right most Americans take for granted: the right to travel abroad. The provision in question gives the Internal Revenue Service the authority to revoke the passport of anyone the IRS claims owes more than $50,000 in back taxes.
