The index tracks the performance of 25 bank and insurers unsecured securities, and today, for the first time since the Lehman bankruptcy, the Financials index surpassed the iTraxx Euro Corporate index. According to Bloomberg the inversion is indicative of "systemic stress" in the financial system and increasing expectations by financial company bondholders that in the upcoming financial restructurings, unsecured notes will likely end up getting impaired.

Madoff To Plead Guilty

U.S. Prosecutor Marc Litt says there is no plea agreement, meaning Bernie may have to lie in jail for up to 150 years. Lehman Files Status Update
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/10/2009 16:45 -0500Bankrupt Lehman Brothers posted a monthly operating report for January in which it disclosed a $1.8 billion increase in the cash of the bankrupt estate. At the end of January Lehman held total cash of $6.8 billion. The cash at LBHI alone is worth roughly 5 cents in recoveries to bondholders (assuming $150 billion in unsecured claims).
