Co-Founder Of Reaganomics, Paul Craig Roberts, "There Is Probably More Democracy In China Than There Is In The West"

Tyler Durden's picture

Paul Craig Roberts: "The west prides itself that it is the standard for
the world, that it is a democracy. But nowehere do you see democratic
outcomes: not in Greece, not in Ireland, not in the UK, not here, the
outcomes are always to punish the innocent and reward the guilty. And
that's what the Greeks are in the streets, protesting. We see this all
over the west. There is no democracy, there are oligarchies, some of
these smaller European countries are not even run by their own
governments, they are run by Wall Street... There is probably more
democracy in China than there is in the west. Revolution is the only
answer... We are confronted with a curious situation. Throughout the
west we think we have democracy, we hold ourselves up high, we demonize
China, we talk about the mafia state of Russia, we talk about the Arabs
and so on, but where is the democracy here?"

i disagree with this guy. the high unemoployment is not caused by offshoring but by the high level of taxation and debt which doesnt allow capital accumulation. another factor is excessive regulations and bureaucracy.

offshoring is good for the economy because it contributes to bring down prices of goods and services. what disallows the creation of substitutes for low tech, low pay jobs offshored is what i describe above.

It allows capital accumulation in multinational off shore accounts. Do you know how to count? Offshoring is good for a global economy amongst nations/peoples of similar levels of cultural and socio economic needs/levels as it allows capital efficiency through useful competition. It has to be regulated amongst nations who are asymmetric in their economic and socio/cultural structures. Each entity/eco-system then may have different agendas/priorities that have to be respected according to criteria which are not just comparative advantage of economic yardsticks; like labour price/productivity and RM/land/water availability.

History 101 for individuals who are unable to fathom time extending beyond their own birth date:  When the people (useless eaters) lose everything, they lose it (thanks Gerald Celente).  Interesting times ahead methinks.  Keep issuing the food stamps.  That should keep the average sheep pacified until you can gut the 2nd admendment (and the 1th, and the 4th, etc).  The Eurozone is pretty well disarmed, so watch to see what happens there.  That should pretty much be the litmus test. Then you can make a relatively informed decision on which part of the globe might be the sanest and safest location to become a refugee.  Crazy world is justa gettin' crazier.

The shrinking difference between China's government and America's government is what's disturbing.

Trying to gauge how small that difference is at this point is meaningless.  It's getting smaller as time goes along.  That's the problem.

And they'll never be exactly the same, but they will be similar.

I don't foresee China's government sexually groping people at airports under some ridiculous "war on terror" banner.  Their government doesn't play those stupid games.

Nor do I foresee Americans facing down tanks in American streets.  Americans are too sheepish for that.
