the only hummer worth a damn was the H1 which used the military chassis. The rest of those things were just car frames with some square kind of a body on them. total waste of money .
You're right. The H2 & H3 are just the medium and small truck chassis with a box on them. They are easy to work on, and that's a good thing, because they break all of the time.

There were a ton of those around here for a while but they are disappearing now. Driven by men and women. Never met one person driving one of these that I could have a reasonable conversation with.
Strange phenomenon. The vehicle had no utility at all other than to suck gas and take up 2 parking spots. Plenty of lighting though to find your way around the already well lit residential areas..............

Obnoxious, much like their owners...at least the ones I've met. Can't say I'm sorry to see it go on the one hand...as a highway vehicle...but as a military vehicle It's unfortunate.
Then again, look at anything and everything that GM touched during the big acquisition period...it all turned to shit swirling around in the toilet, Hummer, Saab, Saturn etc. Saab became nothing but an aglomeration of GM parts raked in from various products, motly Opel I think. Fortunately the name lives on in the case of Saab.
Ford at least fixed the Jaguar electrics but when you consider the Jag wagon you just want to upchuck...what were they thinking!
The military vehicle is a separated factory, a separate company, just the civilian nonsense disappears.

Actually the US Army is no longer buying the HMMWV and is starting to phase it out of front-line service. Largely in favor of much larger, heavier and costlier mine resistant vehicles, and a few years out also a sort of large modified pickup for the non-armored utility role. HMMWV's can't be armored to a level that survives an IED well - they were never designed for that much weight, and there are other fundamental protective design features that they don't have either.

If you want to make it a case of driving a Hummer being a bad thing, then does that make driving the knockoff even worse?
Toyota's been well known for supporting despotic regimes through their Toyota Tsusho division. I would not be surprised if they looked over the Chinese copy just to get a few more Chinese immigrants in Japan to build cars in their company town. Interesting that for all that quality, Toyota cuts corners and they're exposed for being frauds.
At least General Motors looks after its own, despite getting slagged for doing exactly the same thing that the banksters take for granted. That and they've built cars in the South - when their competitors refuse to go North of the Mason-Dixon.
Now where do I go to get it serviced???? I like my Hummer. The thing will jump a ten foot ditch like it wasn't there.

The Hummer is a first class example of what alienates modern America from much of the rest of the world.
The car is an excess of everything. It is brash, fat, fugly and not very good at anything, except showing it's owner up as a complete ignorant in any sense of the word.
That Hummer is going to be axed is the logical consequence of the survival of the fittest. The only surprise is that it was made in the first place.

If they had called it the Hubris, it would have been perfect. The fact they tried and failed to sell to the Chinese says everything. I bet the Chinese had no intention of buying, but enjoyed the irony of the situation.....
