Just because every radioactive cloud has a humorous lining, here is how the event that will take home prices another major leg lower is made funny, thanks to Jon Stewart.

We have " ...government of the people, by the people, for the people...", we just can't prove it.
I hereby temporarily withhold my universal disdain for all things Jon Stewart. That was a perfectly serviceable survey of the this part of our ongoing national economic and financial disaster and yes John, we are fucked.
Although the implication at the end there that, oh yeah, Barry has things under control and we can rely on him to straight-arm big banks from doing whatever the hell they want, is just a tad misleading. Also, no mention of the fact that these defaulting homeowners owe big money to someone...most likely and/or eventually YOU.
If Stewart would apply this kind of clear-eyed analysis and humor to the more universal reality that most productive Americans are neither rich nor poor enough to afford Obamunism and if in general, he would just put down the damn cowbell he might actually do more good than harm.
At least he contributed to the notion that congressional incumbents need to be relieved of their duties.
Jon Stewart is a very clever man and a hoot. get a sense of humour.
So you are saying he is qualified for the U.S. Senate?
Worked for Al Franken!
Too bad Stewart perpetuates the fantasy that Democrats will save us from the evil Republicans/Capitalists by bashing Bush in the beginning and making Obama out to be the great protector in the end. It is simple minded beliefs that perpetuate the scam.
Yes, I'm glad Obama didn't sign the "Vaseline" bill, but the Congressional Oligarchy of BOTH parties - neither of which care about America or the individual citizen or household - will ram or slip through another provision or bill in the middle of the night supporting the banks and their own interests.
Our supposed "representative" government is nothing but an illusion, they are actors who put on the political theater with us as the puppets - while selling our children's future and their own souls in the back rooms and catered banquets of D.C.
Time for revolt or slavery people; never been clearer.
There needs to be blood in the streets or the indentured servitude will progress to outright slavery (with flat screens and beer and football of course).
I have to say they teed this up perfectly for the President to look like a he is finally doing something right. If he had signed that bill into law he may as well have said, "Folks you know by now I am not running in 2012 right?"
I agree the Bush setup, bad guy bankers and savior Presidential actions do seem contrived. Does anyone else believe that the President had no idea what was in this bill while it was moving through Congress & The Senate? Why is a supposedly gridlocked congress capable of stealthily moving this bill that only benefits the bankers without a fart in the wind?
Written and rehearsed many times. Soon to be in political ads.
For what it's worth, Jon Stewart's brother is CEO of NYSE. A little "those bastards" cathartic comic relief but the take away is; as you put it: "...that Democrats will save us from the evil.
I don't think Stewart is related to Duncan Niederauer,CEO, but he may be to Larry Leibowitz, COO.
You got it, eb.
Wow .... Mers , in the name of fraud.
Shareholders played a critical role in the development of MERS. Through their capital support, MERS was able to fund expenses related to development and initial start-up.
The following organizations are Shareholders of MERS.
http://www.mersinc.org/about/shareholders.aspx
http://stopforeclosurefraud.com/2010/09/22/no-theres-no-life-at-mers/
NO. THERE’S NO LIFE AT MERSAside from not recording assignments, Mr. Arnold failed to mention that the certifying officers given authority to execute sensitive loan documents would not be paid employees of MERS. This raises the critical legal question as to how one can act as a certified officer and execute any equitable interest on behalf of any security instruments without being an employee of MERS.
On April 7, 2010, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, MERS Treasurer and Secretary William C. Hultman gave an oral sworn video/telephone deposition in the case of Bank Of New York v. Ukpe.:
Damn, didn't Madoff at least have two employees?
These idiots didn't even bother to maintain appearances! But then, they explicitly explained their service as evasion of local title registration fees on mortgaged MBS properties . . . publicly, right on the website.
God, this has degenirated into politics. Who cares the politics if he gets the message out there in a way people can understand. Makes no difference who is POTUS or in the Senate, its all the same.
It makes a huge difference.
Outstanding.
Pocket Veto = the first thing Mr. Obama has done right. CONgreff uber-sux.
Pretty sure you Stewart bashers watched one episode three years ago and then turned it off. Yes he rips the tea party a new one daily, and is no fan of repubs, but he too has become disillusioned with the dems and to some degree Obama. His biggest target? The MSM, just like ZH.
Get rid of your partisan v-chip, its right under the skin on your left ass cheek. Just need to scratch real hard.
I wholeheartedly agree Boy. But you know those partisan v-chips are a real beyatch to remove right?
Best method is to drop trou on the street and ask someone to help.
No. I watched it every night, until the night Obama was elected. It went downhill from there.
Hard to be funny when you have a guys dick in your mouth at all times.

Well said, tmosley.Really? Making fun of idiots who adore Glenn Beck and pointing out how corrupt banks our while we seemingly can do nothing is pretty funny to me.
FYI...
Beck was all over the corrupt banks (as was RollingStone) eons before Stewart figured it out.
Not a follower of Glenns'..., I'm jus sayin.
I would rather not watch at all than to watch something that is half funny, when the other half is like pulling teeth. It switches back and forth, so you can't just turn it off when he gets into an Obama love-fest.
At least the people who watch Glen Beck are trying to hit bottom. For liberals, it's all business as usual.
"At least the people who watch Glen Beck are trying to hit bottom."
That can be taken in more than one way, and every one of those ways are sad.
Boy, you're riding that gay fellatio riff pretty hard.
So is John.
I can't express my disgust with him strongly enough.
+1
Some people here are a little beyond hope.
Interesting how John points out legislation screws the public but doesn't say who is doing the screwing, i.e. the banks.

South Park HFT episode was much better! OK your $100 is deposited....aaaaaand its gone.
Gone??
Yea...gone.
Yeah baby!!! http://j.mp/bmUGsC I love the end of this clip - I just wish the MSM would actually do it!
Stewart is the Cronkite of our generation, the most trusted man on television. Think about it.
That's setting the bar quite low.
You need a garden hoe to set a bar that low. ROFLMAO!!
Cronkite was called the most trusted man in America, but Stewart may be that too. We have come a long way, and all of it down, but the man is credible, his connection with people is genuine and he skews both parties equally, even if Repubs have no sense of humor. I feel that I am left arguing that humor is better than truth because it strips away the facade (see Colberts testimony to see what a bunch of stiffs the elected types really are) But its very hard to bomb another country and laugh about it, to conduct classwarfare and make a joke about it. He may not be ready to take Washington, but he owns the MSM corporate pretty boys, and can mop the floor with them. Flag me all you want, no nothings
The piece just after with Wyatt Cynak was even better IMHO. He went to the ABA offices to talk about why strategic default is morally wrong (their position, not mine) only to find an empty HQ because ... they strategically defaulted on the loan. Much hay is then made by the clever Mr. Cynak.
That was unmistakably funny!
Stewart is a perfect example of why middle America is disconnected from the left coast and the North East. I hope the country is split up, there is no hope for these people who have come to believe the liberal line- they need to hit bottom.
Yep, at this point the US is two or even three different countries shackeled together under a common political system and held together by force. It cant last and I don't think it should- time to end a bad marriage that isnt working for anyone.
Tension builds...the dots swirl....then: "This video is not available outside the Green Curtain..."
(white letters on black background)
Ha ha ha ha, hilarious! What a comic genius! I've never seen any Roman letters which are so funny, so on-point, and so....succinct - it only takes two seconds to see the whole thing. Too bad he can't teach this technique to US politicians, there's a problem with too much methane and they talk more than cows fart. Tyler, why don't you just block all IP addresses outside the Green Curtain? Or only US viewers are important in today's world, n'est-ce pas?
What the hell are you talking about?
You must live inside the Green Curtain, so you can't see what is happening - the video is only shown to US people, not allowed for others outside.
ahh okay, the video went something like this;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK6SS4ETHWQ
Wow, Rusty, I'm greatly grateful for the link. What a revelation--I've been hearing such sentiments about the evil state piecemeal for a long time, but really couldn't relate. Now I get it. Not sure that I'll end up seeing things the same way, but I'm sure to be incorporating this kind of hypothesis into my thinking going forward.
Thanks.
Thank you for that link, Rusty.
I really enjoyed watching the man's presentation,
and I will explore his other offerings.
Great concepts, especially regarding the results of a coercive core to the monetary system.
geese!
This stuff is so funny, i had to go back and look up a video by the same genre...
Something about when he went into the 'life is just a fantasy' rant!
YUP, that's some great talk, but when the guys who own the helicopters and guns and DU rounds come a-knocking, what are you gonna do about it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GylirgHFqeQ
These guys are from Canada too, aren't they?
It's obvious, you did not listen to the man, he specifically talks about the coercive core of the monetary system.
How can anyone be so dense as to not find John Stewart funny? Its unbelievable to me. Perhaps some of you are the ones that are taking themselves too seriously.
Well, he makes some funny remarks about the gigantic shit-pile formerly known as the US economy, judicial and political system.
On the other hand it is rumored that on one occasion he incidentally or not backed over a turtle belonging to somebody connected to some political party thus turning everything related to JS into a political issue.
....and you wondered why nothing is getting done about corrupt politicians and their masters and a judicial system on the take?
We're too fooking busy looking at all kind of red herrings.
This one is on you Aldous Huxley.
LMAO
I think demographics plays a role. The avg age for fox viewers, for example, I think is over 62. For daily show is 41.
I think it goes hand-in-hand: the people that can't laugh at John Stewart are so wrapped up in their hard right political ideology that they can't see out of it.
"So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains -- and we never even know we have the key!" -- The Eagles
Oh, Jon, YOU are my DENSITY!...i mean, DESTINY!
Lots of Germans found Gorbell's rants about Churchhill being an 'English bedwetter' to be quite humorous, as well.
Wouldn't it have been easier to let those banksters just go bankrupt instead of bailing them out so they could try to double screw us with faulty court cases?
Yep. The bailout remedy always makes it worse.
He just pushes as hard as possible without going crazy. Unfortunately he's pushing against crazy.
There is no denying that Stewart cried the night Obama won the election.
That said, he regularly expresses disappointment at what the administration is doing and often ridicules it. I think he was as hopeful and is now as let-down as many Obama supporters.
Doesn't quite count as a shill.
As for "only" reading what his writers write-- think you could deliver the same lines and make them funny? I sure couldn't. He's a comedian because of his delivery. He probably contributes to the material, but relies on writers for most of it. Just like every host of every TV show in America.
The genius of this team is being able to distill complex political and financial information into a 5 minute segmant that a non-MBA/poli-sci American can actually understand. And make it interesting and funny enough that they don't change the channel to yet another cop show.
I don't like Colbert as much. Probably too simple minded or old. But at least I admit it.
He's not a shill. But jon pretends to be edgy while playing it safe. He would b lost without his writers.
After the Sanchez incident, it’s hard to laugh at Jon Stewart’s mockery of anything while the truth exists that the “oppressed minority” occupies most of the seats of power in the financial industry, an industry that has come to dominate the core of the nation’s political and social power.
The Sanchez episode has been extremely enlightening for any American paying attention. In spite of his sickening apology, Sanchez’s allegation that the occupants of control positions in the media are not an oppressed minority was dramatically correct. Obviously, his firing proves the point.
The CNN executives knew that Dershowitz, Abe Foxman and the advertising agencies with their cancellation orders were just around the corner. Now, anyone who says that there is free speech in America is more than mistaken; he is a part of the problem. Even Stewart jokes within the limits or else they will fire him, too, even if he is a Jew.
Yes, you have a right to free speech in America…as long as you don’t need a job.
Stewart is a shill for that “oppressed minority”, thumbs up JR.
One question, are all the good old boys from new england who go to prep school, then to an ivy league school, then to wall street all jews? Didn't think so.
Poor oppressed minority billionaires.
Remember what Warren Buffett says be greedy when everyone else is afraid, and be afraid when everyone else is greedy,
As long as the Fiat currency system is in place, the only thing that will rise are real hard assets, gold, metals, buildings and real estate, Markets are about not being right or wrong they are about timing and taking profits, Markets will go up, and real assets will go up as long as the yield on treasuries drop and TIps rise.
I stopped watching the daily show 10 years ago for the same reasons I don't watch Bill O'Reilly. It's mostly one-sided horse $hit. I have to admit though, that was a really funny bit. I'll never get how each side tries to portray themselves as the "good guys" when history has a mountain of evidence to the contrary.
There's a difference: No one ever said O'Reilly was funny.
I don't like his politics at all, but, I think he is pretty funny.
Pornography is funny. Obscenities are funny. Bankruptcy is funny. Loss of one’s job is funny. Loss of one’s house is funny. Family crisis because of money problems is funny. Loss of culture is funny. War is funny. And, finally, the funniest of all, the loss of one’s country to a group of private bankers who allow and promote an environment where there is no free speech. hahaha
Bankers are funny.
Most. Boring. Thread. Ever.
I hope this one accidently dies in a server crash. But it'll be the best thread ever instead.
I just wonder how much longer this can go on? Currency debasement causing price inflation in assets, mortgage fraud, ZIRP, failure of capital formation, high unemployment, confused foreign policy (esp. Afghanistan) uncontrolled spending, deficits and debt and that does not even cover the attendant corruption in government.
Can we limp along like this for a few months, a few years or a few decades? Or will we simply wake up one morning and find martial law and/or chaos?
