The End Of The Fed's Self-Deluding Feedback Loop Of False Information
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/09/2015 15:55 -0500The world is bankrupt after thirty years of borrowing from the future to throw a party in the present, and the authorities can’t acknowledge that. But they can provide the conditions for disguising it, especially in the statistical hall of mirrors that once-upon-a-time produced meaningful signals for the movement of capital. The Dow, the S&P, and the NASDAQ are the only signaling mechanisms that the legacy media pays attention to, and the politicos take their cues from them, in a feedback loop of false information that begets more delusional positive psychology in those same markets.
The Recessionary Signals Of A 5% Unemployment Rate
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/09/2015 13:55 -0500"Historically, the statistical or mathematical properties of the financial markets have shifted as the economic recovery nears full employment (i.e., at about the 5% unemployment rate the contemporary recovery has reached). Traditionally, at this point in the recovery, the stock market suffers more frequent declines, bond yields rise more often, average annualized returns from both asset classes are lower, diversification benefits tend to diminish, and recession risk is enhanced."
Paul Craig Roberts Rages At "Another Phony Jobs Number"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/09/2015 10:50 -0500If the US economy were actually in economic recovery, would half of the 25-year-old population be living with parents? The real job situation is so poor that young people are unable to form households.
A 14 Handle on Silver. Again. 8 Nov, 2015
Submitted by Monetary Metals on 11/09/2015 01:30 -0500Last week, we asked if silver would have a 14 handle again. This week, the market answered yes we can! How did we know? By looking at supply and demand.
Offshoring The Economy: Why The US Is On The Road To The Third World
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/30/2015 20:05 -0500On January 6, 2004, Senator Charles Schumer and I challenged the erroneous idea that jobs offshoring was free trade in a New York Times op-ed. Our article so astounded economists that within a few days Schumer and I were summoned to a Brookings Institution conference in Washington, DC, to explain our heresy. In the nationally televised conference, I declared that the consequence of jobs offshoring would be that the US would be a Third World country in 20 years. That was 11 years ago, and the US is on course to descend to Third World status before the remaining 9 years of my prediction have expired. The evidence is everywhere.
One Chart That Explains The Stupidity Of Congress' SPR Plan
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/30/2015 10:47 -0500Buy high, sell low. The definition of stupid.
How The U.S. Government "Covers Up" 72% Inflation Before Your Very Eyes
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/23/2015 22:08 -0500Dear Bureau of Labor Statistics: please pay careful attention to this case study of how your CPI "inflation" gauge, hedonically, seasonally-adjusted or otherwise, is completely inaccurate, and how what you record as 0% inflation is really 72%!
Confusion, Delusions, & Illusions
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/20/2015 21:30 -0500Two recent surveys, along with numerous other studies and data, reveal most American households to be living on the brink of catastrophe, but continuing to act in a reckless and delusionary manner. Telling people the truth today is meaningless, as they don’t want their illusions destroyed. But destroyed they will be, when this teetering edifice of debt comes crashing down on their heads.
Oil Prices Still Not Low Enough To Fix The Markets
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/20/2015 08:25 -0500Current oil prices are simply not low enough to stop over-production. Unless external investment capital is curtailed and producers learn to live within cash flow, a production surplus and low oil prices will persist for years.
NEWSFLASH: The Fed Won't Raise Rates Until (At Least) June 2016!
Submitted by Secular Investor on 10/11/2015 08:42 -0500Get used to the fact that the Fed won't act...
Time To End Monetary Central Planning
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/07/2015 20:30 -0500Governments and their central bank creations usurped market-based monetary and banking systems to serve the plundering purposes of kings, princes, parliaments, and special interest groups who all wanted to hold the magical hand of the monetary printing press. Print up money (or its digital substitutes and surrogates in more modern times) and you can have access to all the hard work of others without the reciprocal effort. The monetary social engineers' century-long legacy in the arena of money and banking has been the booms and busts of the business cycle. The time has come to end the tragic and disruptive reign of monetary central planning.
What Happens To Our Economy As Millions Of People Lose The Habits Of Hard Work?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/07/2015 08:22 -0500Simply put, job growth is not keeping pace with population growth--specifically, the growth of the labor force which is generally defined as the population between the ages of 18 and 64. So what happens to the economy as millions of people never acquire the habits of hard work or lose them due to chronic joblessness?
Peter Schiff: The Fed Has Created A "Bad Is Good" Economy
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/05/2015 20:30 -0500The popular belief that the U.S. economy has been steadily recovering has endured months of disappointing data without losing much of its appeal. But the downright dismal September jobs report that was released last Friday may prove to be the flashing red beacon that even the most skilled apologists can't explain away. But rather than questioning the Fed's credibility in missing another forecast, most economists are lauding it for supposedly seeing weakness that others missed, which allowed it to wisely do nothing in September. But this is simply a continuation of the Fed's long-standing playbook: Talk the economy up through optimistic statements while continually holding off an actual rate hike that the Fed is concerned could undermine an economy teetering on the brink of recession.
The Looming Medicaid Time-Bomb
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/01/2015 17:30 -0500Between the demographic time bomb about to go off - that is, the growth of the elderly population far exceeding the growth of the working age population by several orders of magnitude - and then the weak economy, the huge expansion of entitlements under the health care law, and the dramatic increases of the costs of those entitlements, including for labor, what could possibly go wrong?
Goldman Sachs - Perpetuator Of The Fed's Jihad Against Savers
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/14/2015 13:15 -0500One of these days, the people of main street will rediscover their torches and pitchforks. But until they do, Goldman has apparently invented still another ruse to keep the Fed doing Wall Street’s bidding, and to thereby keep its wretched jihad against savers fully in force.
