Why Capital Is Fleeing China: The Crushing Costs Of Systemic Corruption
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/04/2015 10:36 -0500Corruption isn't just bribes and influence-peddling: it's protecting the privileges of the few at the expense of the many. Rampant pollution is corruption writ large: the profits of the polluters are being protected at the expense of the millions being poisoned. What China will be left with a poisoned land stripped of talent and capital.
Sheep Led To The Slaughter: The Muzzling Of Free Speech In America

The Economics Of Bernie Sanders
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/01/2015 15:55 -0500If we could put the economics of Bernie Sanders into a nutshell, it would be this: Burden private enterprise with one directive after another, and then demonize it when it ultimately falls down under the awful weight of taxes, higher costs, and mandates. While many people believe that instituting the Sanders economic agenda would help turn the USA into another Sweden or Denmark, the more likely outcome would be turning this country into another Venezuela.

One Theory About Last Monday's ETF Implosion
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/31/2015 12:41 -0500Attempts to explain exactly what happened last Monday when prices for a whole host of ETFs and mutual funds diverged markedly from fair value abound and while there's no way to know for sure exactly what went wrong, FactSet has drawn some tentative conclusions after conducting a bit of "voodoo, tea-leaf reading."

Austrian Economics Is Now Equivalent To Terrorism Thanks To Latest Islamic State "Gold Standard" Propaganda Clip
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/30/2015 13:16 -0500What better way to mute demands for a return to sound money and the gold standard, than by making them equivalent to jihadist terrorism? Why, there are none, which may explain the hilarious appearance of the "Islamic State's" latest 55-minutes pro gold standard YouTube clip, which is nothing but a crash course in Austrian economics.
Malaysia Bans The Color Yellow As Protests Swell Into The Hundreds Of Thousands

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/29/2015 18:15 -0500It’s been noticed more than a few times that there aren’t many substantive differences between the Republicans and Democrats. What they have in common - at least the mainstream varieties - is a desire to use the state to shape society in whatever way they see fit. As Andrew Napolitano put it, "We have migrated from a two-party system into a one-party system, the big-government party. There’s a democratic wing that likes taxes and wealth transfers and assaults on commercial liberties and there’s a republican wing that likes war and deficits and assaults uncivil liberties." And both parties love prohibition, just of different things.
Mass Protests Sweep Malaysian Capital As Anger At Goldman-Backed Slush Fund Boils Over
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/29/2015 14:36 -0500Tens of thousands of demonstrators poured into the streets of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Razak whose government has been accused of obstructing an investigation into how some $700 million from the Goldman-backed 1Malaysia Development Berhad mysteriously ended up in Najib’s personal bank account. Meanwhile, the country stands on the precipice of an outright financial meltdown.

The Corruption Of American Freedom
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/28/2015 21:30 -0500Our form of government today allows revolution (theoretically) through the ballot box rather than on the battlefield. But nonetheless, the message for our political elites today is much the same as it was in 1776: They ignore the people’s contempt at their own risk.
"No Recovery For You!" Brazil Officially Enters Recession, Goldman Calls Numbers "Disquieting"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/28/2015 16:00 -0500You know what they say: when it rains it pours, especially when you’re the poster child for an epic emerging market unwind and you’re suffering through the worst inflation-growth outcome in over a decade while trying to combat dual deficits and ward off political and social upheaval.
Remembering The Summer Of 1929
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/27/2015 18:00 -0500The Summer of 1929 was unusually hot, with the stock market going up and down like a roller coaster, making investors and pundits almost dizzy. That is, until the great push up to the very height of the market in early September. It was the laissez-faire abuses of the 1920’s, the reign of supply side economics, the institutionalized political corruption of easy money, an oversized, overly influential and powerful financial/industrial sector that set the stage for the terrible Depression of the 1930’s. It also gave rise to the many reforms introduced by the FDR administration. Most of which have been steadily overturned, one by one, by the big money interests who care for nothing but themselves, and would do it again, and again, if allowed to do so.
Japan's Kuroda Denies Existence Of Currency War As China Devalues Yuan To Fresh 4 Year Lows, Injects CNY150bn Liquidity
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/26/2015 20:20 -0500The night began much like any other morning in Asia - with pure comedy gold from Japanese leadership with BOJ's Kuroda saying he is "not concerned about currency wars, there is no currency war," adding that he has "no plans for further easing." That coincided with a drift lower in Japanese stocks from the US close - but mots of Asian stock markets were green buoyed by America's victory against malicious sellers for the first time in a week. Meanwhile, in China, margin debt drops to a 7-month lows (but is still up 133% YoY). But as rumor-mongers face death squads and any broker caught not buying with both hands and feet faces prison, it is no surprise that Chinese stocks are higher in the pre-open (A50 +5%, CSI +2.7%) but large corporate bond issues are being canceled willy nilly even as China devalues Yuan to fresh 4-year lows (6.4085) and adds CNY150bn liquidity.
