The All-Time-High In The Dow Jones Industrial Average Is A Hoax
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/10/2014 18:47 -0500
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) Index is the only stock market index that covers both the second and the third industrial revolution. Calculating share indexes such as the Dow Jones Industrial Average and showing this index in a historical graph is a useful way to show which phase the industrial revolution is in. Changes in the DJIA shares basket, changes in the formula and stock splits during the take-off phase and acceleration phase of industrial revolutions are perfect transition-indicators. The similarities of these indicators during the last two revolutions are fascinating, but also a reason for concern. In fact the graph of the DJIA is a classic example of fictional truth, a hoax.

GM Seeks Immunity From Lawsuits Due To Bankruptcy
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/16/2014 14:14 -0500
While the law has been something the US government and General Motors have been willing to 'bend' or break in the past (absolute priority 'shifts' in bankruptcy), we suspect this latest move by Mary Barra's new GM will do more PR damage. Simply put, as many suspected given Barra's testimony and comments in the past, Reuters reports that General Motors Co will ask a bankruptcy court to block any litigation of the alleged deaths associated with the ignition switch problem since they are related to the automaker's pre-2009 bankruptcy. Of course, as we noted here, the Feds are probing the company over whether they knowingly committed bankruptcy fraud.

GM CEO Barra Lied To Congress: Docs Reveal She Knew About Steering Problem Years Ago
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/11/2014 13:49 -0500
Despite her vehement denial of knowing anything about the ignition switch problems at GM (until late December, early January), documents revealed by the Energy and Commerce Department show:
*GM'S BARRA TOLD OF STEERING PROBLEM IN 2011, DOCUMENTS SHOW
*DEGIORGIO SAYS COST FOR ALL COBALT MODELS WOULD BE $10 EACH
We are sure the lawyers will be carefully crafting her PR response to this disaster but as Chairman Fred Upton notes, "There is still much left to examine and we will continue to follow the facts... These initial documents revealed failures within the system." It seems this was the last straw for the hedge funds (GM is the most widely held) as the stock is dumping.
