Obama Speaks Behind Closed Doors, Says "Syria Action Will Be Limited, No Ground Troops"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/30/2013 13:28 -0500The headlines come pouring in:
- OBAMA SPEAKS ON SYRIA DURING MEETING WITH BALTIC LEADERS
- OBAMA CALLS SYRIA CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACK CHALLENGE TO WORLD
- OBAMA SAYS SYRIAN USE OF CHEMICAL WEAPONS THREATENS U.S.
- OBAMA SAYS HE'LL CONTINUE TO CONSULT WITH CONGRESS ON SYRIA
- OBAMA SAYS HE HASN'T MADE FINAL DECISION ON SYRIA ATTACK
- OBAMA SAYS SYRIA ACTION WILL BE LIMITED WITH NO GROUND TROOPS
So... he hasn't made a decision, but the action will be limited. Is this like the Schrodinger economy where everything is dead if one collapses the Fed's wave function.

It seems clear that it is not "if" but "when" an attack takes place and as the following world-cloud confirms; the US "know"... as the strategy "better to ask for forgiveness than permission?" And that with the Russia meeting due next week, and a UN inspector report that appears pointless now that we have social media, that the attack will occur sooner rather than later...
Japan and US: Much of a Sameness
Submitted by Pivotfarm on 08/30/2013 08:07 -0500There’s too much of a sameness about Japan and the USA today. The Land of the Rising Sun and good old Uncle Sam have been copying each other far too much and now it seems as if they are railroading on the same train to the Land of Debt.

How Obama Got His Tomahawks
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/29/2013 13:44 -0500
The rise of Tomahawk force began in 1983 during the Reagan buildup, but the demise of the Evil Empire did not slow down its development one bit. By the end of the century the United States had about 150 surface ships and attack submarines that could launch these deadly cruise missiles and an inventory of nearly 5,000 missiles. Tomahawks have a range of seven hundred miles. This means that from their offshore platforms they can reach three-fourths of the world’s population. And during the last two decades they have been used in just this “stand-off” manner against targets in Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Libya, and others—teaching presidents that they could meddle freely without getting bloodied.
Syria: Over by Christmas or Voices from the Past?
Submitted by Pivotfarm on 08/28/2013 19:14 -0500French President François Hollande jumped straight in declaring in more Sarkozy-style fashion than ex-President Sarkozy himself that he would attack Syria. That was even before the UN investigators had been shot at by some unidentified people.
Boehner Sends Obama Letter Demanding "Clear, Unambiguous Explanation" For Syrian Intervention
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/28/2013 16:58 -0500
The letter below was sent a short while ago by House Speaker John Boehner to the president, voicing the Republican's displeasure with the Commander In chief, and criticizing the level of consultation about a potential military strike as well as demanding a clear explanation of any mission in advance of its start. Sadly, since not even Obama is quite clear why his Wall Street-based advisors demand that the US rush head first into this deficit-boosting campaign (and whose primary purpose as we have been explaining for a month is to make the Untaper possible), we doubt Boehner will get a response. Separately, as the WSJ reports, 114 House lawmakers— 97 Republicans and only 17 Democrats— have signed a letter calling on Mr. Obama to seek congressional authorization before embarking on military action in Syria. We suspect that 17 would have been substantially greater if the president engaging in unauthorized war had a last name beginning with "Buh" and ending in "Oosh."

Guest Post: 15 Signs That Obama Has Already Made The Decision To Go To War With Syria
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/26/2013 19:28 -0500
Following John Kerry's press briefing, it appears the Obama administration seems absolutely determined to help radical Islamic jihadists that have beheaded Christians, that have massacred entire Christian villages, and that have pledged loyalty to al-Qaeda topple the Assad regime and take over Syria. Yes, the Assad regime is horrible, but if these jihadist lunatics take control it will destabilize the entire region, make the prospect of a major regional war much more probable, and plunge the entire nation of Syria into a complete and utter nightmare. This is setting up to become a colossal foreign policy disaster for the United States.

In Part 1 of this article we documented the insane remedies prescribed by the mad banker scientists presiding over this preposterous fiat experiment since they blew up the lab in 2008. In Part 2 we tried to articulate why the country has allowed itself to be brought to the brink of catastrophe. There is no turning back time. The choices we’ve made and avoided making over the last one hundred years are going to come home to roost over the next fifteen years. We are in the midst of a great Crisis that will not be resolved until the mid-2020s. The appearance of stability is illusory, as the civic fabric of the country continues to tear asunder. Record high stock markets do not trickle down. The masters of propaganda seem baffled that their standard operating procedures are not generating the expected response from the serfs. They have failed to take into account the generational mood changes that occur; propaganda loses its effectiveness in proportion to the pain and distress being experienced by the citizenry.

Guest Post: Obama Picks Cass Sunstein (America’s Goebbels?) To Serve On NSA Oversight Panel
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/25/2013 20:45 -0500
“It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion.” - Goebbels
Only under the Obama Presidency, in which every appointment, minor or major, is handed only to the most corrupt, devious crony to be found, can a man like Cass Sunstein be appointed to serve on the NSA oversight panel. Cass is a noted propagandist, who has advocated that government agents should infiltrate groups and discussions that push “conspiracy theories” in order to delegitimize them. But don’t take our word for it...
NSA Agents Used Company Resources To Spy On Former Spouses
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/24/2013 09:45 -0500
Remember when Obama said it is impossible for the NSA to spy to American citizens? Well, at least one guy didn't get the memo. As AP reports, two U.S. officials said one analyst was disciplined in years past for using NSA resources to track a former spouse. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Not that we blame him of course: if one has every capability to spy on anyone, certainly including exes, and there are absolutely no checks and balances to any violating behavior, then why not? Which of course goes to the root of the problem. And the other problem: if one guy has done it, all others have done it too. They just haven't been caught yet.
US Refines "Military Options" Ahead Of Syrian Strikes
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/23/2013 07:00 -0500
Now that the US has made up its mind once more and "knows" that Wednesday's chemical attack in Syria was conducted by the government and targeting the "rebels", even as the "developed" west calls for a UN investigation to determine just that, and as the US (including the CIA), Israel and Jordan have already sent an advance military force into Syria to conduct more false flag provocations and blame it on the regime, the only next step is to soften and prepare popular opinion for what comes next. And what comes next is on the front page of the WSJ this morning: "The U.S. began refining its military options for possible strikes in Syria, officials said... Officers at the Pentagon on Thursday were updating target lists for possible airstrikes on a range of Syrian government and military installations." Then again we have seen all this before. Surely, one of these times the administration will actually go ahead and push the button instead of just talking about it.
On The Dangers Of The NSA... From March 27, 1983

The warning signs were all there. Long, long ago they were all right there. Reading this article from the New York Times, published thirty years ago, brings forth emotions of frustration, disappointment and even a sense of resentment. Resentment that many of those that came before us knew about all of this and basically did nothing.
