California: A Microcosm For Impending Global Water Crisis
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/07/2015 11:27 -0500The move by California to require mandatory cuts in water use for the first time in its history has highlighted the world’s looming water crisis and increased the focus on the links between sustainable water and sustainable energy. “We need a new paradigm,” says Steven Solomon, author of Water: The Epic Struggle for Wealth, Power and Civilization. “The days when we could just go further into the mountains and find new sources of water are past. We need to make better use of the water we have.”
Wall Street Bonuses Rose 2% in 2014 To $172,860: 427% Increase In 20 Years
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/11/2015 11:22 -0500Finally some good news for brokers of ultra-luxury Manhattan real estate. Following the recent freeze in the most expensive housing segment in NYC in which "deals slowed to a trickle" as a result of the soaring US Dollar, and the crack down on offshore illegal wealth, it appeared that the final housing bubble left in the US that has yet to pop, that which focuses on properties $5 million and higher, was on the edge. Its day or reckoning may be delayed, however, following news that the most traditional buyer of high-end Manhattan real estate, Wall Street bankers themselves, may be finally coming back following a 2% increase in Wall Street bonuses in 2014, which pushed the average bonus to $172,860.

New Yorkers Consider Secession After Cuomo's Permanent Ban On Fracking
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/09/2015 10:07 -0500One could argue America was conceived from intense frustration that ultimately led to separation. Fed up with what they perceived as excessive control by the Crown, colonists to the “New England”, in essence, seceded in 1776, and thus the United States was born. Now, there is a renewed and growing secession conversation brewing, this time fueled by a commodity: Natural gas. Infuriated by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s December decision to permanently instill a ban against hydraulic fracture stimulation, or fracking, residents in 15 communities in the Southern Tier of New York are discussing the possibility of redrawing the border between New York and Pennsylvania.

NY Judge Slams Wells Fargo For Forging Documents... And Why Nothing Will Change
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/02/2015 18:31 -0500Everything that is broken with the US judicial system, explained with the help of two judges... and why nothing in this broken, corrupt system can ever be fixed until the grand reset finally sweeps every last remnant of the existing farce.

The Value Of Wealth
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/12/2015 18:30 -0500"We have to rethink our world just about from scratch. Or else. We’ve lived chasing the recovery carrot for years now, but the economy won’t recover; it can’t. There hasn’t been any real growth since at least the 1980s, the only thing there’s been is increasing debt levels that we mistook for growth." We need to do a lot more thinking, and take a far more critical look at ourselves, than we do at present. We’re not even playing it safe, we’re only playing it easy. And that’s just not enough.
All Over America, Government Officials Are Cracking Down On Preppers
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/09/2015 22:55 -0500Why would the government want to punish people that are just trying to work hard, become more self-sufficient and take care of their families? If you use alternative methods to heat your home, or if you are not connected to the utility grid, or if you collect rainwater on your property, or if you believe that parents should have the ultimate say when it comes to health decisions for their children, you could become a target for overzealous government enforcers.
New York Governor Cuomo Does Saudi Bidding, Bans Fracking In NY State
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/17/2014 13:22 -0500Having missed the entire shale boom, and with heavily-indebted shale companies now scrambling to boost liquidity or else face bankruptcy if crude prices remain at current levels, moments ago - in the latest example of blatant populist pandering - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday his administration would prohibit hydraulic fracturing statewide, citing health concerns and calling the economic benefits to drilling there limited. “I cannot support high-volume hydraulic fracturing in the great state of New York,” acting health commissioner Howard Zucker said, adding that he wouldn’t allow his own children to live near a fracking site. He said the “cumulative concerns” about fracking “give me reason to pause.”
Misery Mounts As Airline Delays & Cancellations Surge On East Coast
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/26/2014 12:46 -0500As of 1220ET, 505 flights have been cancelled in the US today (and 1,731 additional flights are subject to delays) as airlines both pre-emptively and reactively prepare for the worst case nor'easter due to hit the East Coast any hour now. Chicago O'Hare is subject to the most flight delays, followed by New York's JFK. Newark, Laguardia, and Philadeplhia airports are seeing the most cancellations currently. "In most cases, the worst time to travel in the mid-Atlantic and New England due to the storm will be on Wednesday and Wednesday night."
A Quick Look At Goldman's Takeover Of The US Judicial System: NY Fed Edition
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/20/2014 16:43 -0500One really just can't make this up. Perhaps the Fed inspector general, when he is done "fixing" the corruption at the NY Fed will be so kind to take a look at the Goldman takeover of the US judicial system next.
New York, New Jersey Begin Mandatory Quarantines In Ebola Response
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/24/2014 16:13 -0500Despite the constant confirmation that New York "is prepared, and has been prepared for months" for an Ebola outbreak (that is extremely difficult to catch apparently), it appears Governor Cuomo and NJ's Christie are more concerned than they are letting on. Having earlier admitted that the CDC's screening guidelines are "insufficient" for New York regions' population density, Reuters reports that Cuomo and Christie are considering "enhanced screening" where "all healthcare workers will be mandatorily quarantined." Cue "state of emergency" proclamation and civil liberties 'interrupted'...
