Need a "suggestions" subforum.
I'd ditch the inline comments and link each article to its own forum post for further discussion-need an "articles" (or whatever title you like) subforum for this as well.
Sticky somewhere for allowed basic html coding in forum posts.

Looking good guys. Just a couple thoughts:
I'm not sure what your plans are for the forums but in these dark days you'll need to do quite a bit of ruthless culling if you want to avoid the moonbats taking over. This will necessarily be labor intensive until the ground rules are established and will almost certainly make someone very cranky. Marla? :)
Feel free to ignore this.
It's all about the content after all and you are doing an excellent job in that regard.

This ZH web-site needs more contrast, more distinct BORDERS of columns and more color separation between articles/comments/etc.
Probably the best design for economic type of web-site is MarketWatch.com. That design is a result of long fine tuning, including a couple of "design wars" between web-designers of MarketWatch and MarketWatch community (users).
BTW, ZeroHedge is often quoted there on MW in comments.
Another suggestion? Help fix the page loading error: "this page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js" that shows up in Internet Explorer 8 when loading this site.

Recommendation: when displaying the articles related to / tagged by glossary term, display results by post date as opposed to article title. Makes finding particular/relevant articles much easier than the arbitrary first word of the title.

Why can't I see the general content in firefox after last night? I can see sidebars etc but not main comments, now I have to go to IE which I H A T E

I came to your site via others I respected (FT Alphaville/Naked Capitalism, etc.). Your work is great. Comments not so great, except for the 5% that are exceptional.
Suggestion: help those of your commenters stuck in their mother's basement get out and see the serious work being done elsewhere where you are credited.

Separating the wheat from the chaff is getting more difficult lately with the increased traffic in the comments section.
There's a lot of excellent stuff in the comments so I slog through anyway, but wondered:
Since you read the comments, and I have faith in your nose for the good stuff, could you add a function to replace the "flag as junk" with a "wheat" and a "chaff" flag, designated by you, and allow me to view the Wheat comments first, then the chaff, or both.
The silly stuff might slow down if a comment ends up in the second tier bucket.
Please bring back longer articles on the front page. Having to click through to read is annoying. Very few blogs do the link thing, there is a reason.....

A message without context is discreditable.
A few things which could be known would be
experience, in broad terms in finance, education
and perhaps age in broad terms. Also, many
readers may like to know whether the writer
is a jew. Attacking GS, a jew run firm, by
a jew is more credible than the reverse.
facts are the context. it seems to me that the point of this site is to present facts so that readers can make their own decisions. if you really want context turn on cnbc.
why do we have to bring race into this? GS isn't mostly run by jews. paulson isn't a jew and he ran it for awhile.
Bring back diqus.. i think it was the best platform.. it did have its qwerks but it was universal on many different sites... i hate logging in to a million different blogs to make a comment...

The logo bar & the semi-permanent stories take up a lot of room. When I view your site from work, the top half of the page is taken up with stuff that doesn't change throughout the day, and often most of the rest is taken up with sticky (or bumped) posts like the ZH gear post.
Also, I usually read all your stories. On the old site I could just scroll down, reading new posts as I go. Now I have to click on every post to read it in its own window, then go back to the main page to get the next post. Maybe you could go back to posting the full text on the main page (maybe up to some fairly large limit) and have a listing of recent posts on the sidebar.
Please, please, PLEASE turn full-text RSS back on...
