Ah, yes, watched a movie about Seward? when he had Mary Surratt hanged, not for justice but to save the Union.
On July 7, 1865, forty-two-year-old Mary Surratt, an attractive, dark-haired widow, was hanged on the gallows at the Old Arsenal Penitentiary in Washington along with three others convicted of complicity in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by a military court.Mary Surratt was the only woman of the four. She was, in fact, the first woman ever executed by the government of the United States. The execution of Mary Surratt was not a triumph of justice. It was a disgraceful political atrocity that still stains the national conscience and mars the American ideal of justice.
So, it can be said the first "war on women" was initiated by Lincoln supporters...oh my...lol.
Sounds on a par to the treatment women & children of New Manchester (outside Roswell Ga.)...a forced march into the "enemy" north...rape, pillage...ya know, "ethnic cleansing" type stuff.
But...they were our "brothers". The question now arises, can they be forgiven for forgetting their deeds?
I apoligize if this has shown up elsewhere, but I just caught the report that a federal justice commented on GS' own argument that their stated terms of "honesty" and "integrity" are merely "puffery" in federal court.
UPDATE 1-U.S. Judge Allows Investor Suit Over Goldman CDOs
By Jessica Dye
NEW YORK, June 21 (Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge said on Thursday that shareholders can proceed with a lawsuit accusing Goldman Sachs Group Inc of concealing conflicts of interest in several collateralized debt obligation transactions, the fallout from which caused Goldman's stock price to tumble.
Lawyers for Goldman argued the lawsuits and investigations themselves caused the stock price to drop, not its alleged omissions.
But "these suits and investigations can more appropriately be seen as a series of 'corrective disclosures,' because they revealed Goldman's material misstatements - and indeed pattern of making misstatements - and its conflict of interest," Crotty wrote.
In a footnote, Crotty described as "Orwellian" Goldman's argument that annual reports touting its integrity and honesty were mere opinion, and not misleading statements, as plaintiffs claimed.
“If Goldman's claim of 'honesty' and 'integrity' are simply puffery, the world of finance may be in more trouble than we recognize," he wrote.
A spokesman for Goldman declined to comment. Also named as defendants in the lawsuit are Goldman chief executive Lloyd Blankfein, chief financial officer David Viniar and chief operating officer Gary Cohn.
The case is In re Goldman Sachs Group Inc Securities Litigation, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, no. 10-3461.
Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase.
Nuff said.
He's on an even bigger bill than me.
But by the time we get to $10,000 it'll be too late.

Money is always turning point for freedom.
Good job Abe.
Hey wait a minute...,
that's not Lloyd's head, it's Rick Moranis.
OMG!
That means Lloyd is still ALIVE!

funny how female beauty perception changes in movies : from Greta Garbo in 'Camille' , to Sharon stone in 'basic instinct'.
The sexy woman has gone very Xy. We want more flesh for less sentment. The male vilainous figure stays the same : Blankfiendish in black desire.
This one is great!
Too bad we're living the nightmare.
