Antifederalist Papers Farmer #7, 1787

"...if the representation be so formed as to give one or more of the natural classes of men in the society an undue ascendency over the others, it is imperfect; the former will gradually become masters, and the latter slaves. It is the first of all among the political balances to preserve in its proper station each of these classes."

"...this sentence was quoted by congress in 1774, and is as follows:--"In every society there is an effort continually tending to confer on one part the height of power and happiness, and to reduce the others to the extreme of weakness and misery; the intent of good laws is to opppose this effort, and to diffuse their influence universally and equally." Add to this Montesquieu's opinion, that "in a free state every man, who is supposed to be a free agent, ought to be concerned in his own government: therefore, the legislative should reside in the whole body of the people, or their representatives." It is extremely clear that these writers had in view the several orders of men in society, which we call aristocratical, democratical, merchantile, mechanic, &c. and perceived the efforts they are constantly, from interested and ambitious views, disposed to make to elevate themselves and oppress others. Each order must have a share in the business of legislation actually and efficiently. It is deceiving a people to tell them they are electors, and can chuse their legislators, if they cannot, in the nature of things, chuse men from among themselves, and genuinely like themselves."

and skosh' real-time, the Boston Pops 4th show has been interrupted for the last 1/2 hour or so due to local thunderstormz.  Radio / internet streaming of the music (rather awesome, with a long provenance) has reported the required evac of like 1/2 MM AMCITS and others out of the esplenade to "safe locations" [ya, right].

Meanwhile, on the local CBS affiliate (Mugar/Unruh) the video feed went blytheley on.  With no commentary, but lotsa' cuts as one usually sees.

and the MA ARNG Artillerists did themselves proud in the salute rounds for the 1812 Overture thingie. {historians will remember that the cannon firing inside the theater burned the house down when ol' T did the show back when}

'cept that CBS was broadcasting the rehearsal v. live feed that all of us'nz were expecting. 'cuz on the TV, they didn't announce the storm warning and evac order..

Now back live show at 2214 eastern.  We'll see if they do the 1812 Overture for real.

as trendy as it is to poke fun, it is also trendy to know a few things.  We The People are those who signed the document.  They are the ones allowed to pursue the unalienable rights and the rest of us can aspire as well.

they are the ones at this moment engaged in all manner of squid eat squid activiy.  Because they own or are buds with the real owners of the deal.

so get out there and aspire!

All the retards will come out to "support our troops" as the troops are ordered to kick doors in of innocent people and kill women and children as they sleep in their beds all in the name of keeping people in Jersey "safe".  When actually it's just practice for when they run out of women, children, old men and women, dogs and anything that basically breathes overseas, to come back here and do it in Amerika.  And as all the idiots stuff themselves with pink slime and crappy piss water beer "honoring" our troops, the troops are locked and loaded to blow their damn fool heads off.  I will NOT honor this country ar pledge my alliegence to a country that has been hijacked by lying thieving crooked murderous thug banker scum.  I will NOT do their bidding for their dirty worthless fiat shit money.  I'm awake and this independance day I want REAL independance as in get rid of this tyrannical and oppressive corrupt govt and all the crooks in it.  Let's celebrate our independance by hanging banksters in Times Square.

support the troops when elites send their own in. otherwise it is just empire building.

It's still empire building but at least they have a little skin in the game.  One reason that Alexander always won his battles is that he always took point and his men kept rushing forward trying to protect his flanks.  Can you imagine Jaime or lloyd taking point attacking a hooker convention?

Happy Dependance Day everyone..
another day to take my flag and hang it on the front of the house and wonder why I bother.
I'll give it a few hours and go count flags in the neighborhood... another disappointment awaits.

We have gone full circle from a nation that resists a tyrannical government to one that welcomes the fundamental transformation to a tyrannical government.. that is because the people of the 1700's grew up under the oppressive rule of the monarch and knew what it meant, this generation assumes that precious gift of freedom bought by patriot blood is their birthright and can never be lost.
so they are willing to pluck the low hanging fruit from the tree of slavery as tho it were inconsequential.

Well the house looks better with the stars and stripes even in the rain I suppose.

I guess we can pretend.

el Gallinazo's picture

Why don't you hang the flag upside down, the legal meaning of which is that you regard the nation to be in distress?  Perhaps a flag with all the colors inverted to be flown on Sep 11 would be a appropriate.

Let us remember on this Independence day that Freedom is the Freedom to fail as well as succeed.   Freedom to love as well as hate.   Freedom to be self-sufficient as well as dependent.    It is not, and never has been the Freedom to sponge, the Freedom to cheat, the Freedom to plot against the Republic.      Freedom is Responsibility to oneself, to one's family and friends and one's community to see it succeed and prosper, not wallow in the misery of self-pity and denial.      Responsibilty is a burden which each man, woman and child must take up to the best of their abilities, not for themselves, but rather for their children and their children's children.

We have become a nation of over-privledged crybabies, expecting the fruits of our parents and grandparents labors, without any effort on our part as well.    Children, given everything by their parents, have no understanding of the work ethic, no desire to attend to their duties and desire only for the things in life which they have denoted as being successful.   They have lost the love of a dedicated and loving mate, the adoration and respect of a child or children and live only for their electronic gadgets which must use more and more power which can be taken by a whim of nature.

We must correct our path down the lane of listlessness, the highway of hell.    Let us recall that our forefathers gave blood, sweat, tears and soul to the creation of a Republic that did not require any vow of faith.    They called for Freedom, which includes the tolerance to allow a person to decide for themselves how they wish to conduct their private affairs between themselves and their deity.    Our forefathers were not Christian, but Deists who saw full well how man would manipulate religion for his own benefit whether it be through indulgences or subserviance.

We have come a great way in 236 years.    We have outlawed slavery, yet is still exists in trafficked prostitutes and migrant workers.   We have given women equal status with men, yet still have glass ceilings and arraigned marraiges.      Despite 236 years we still have racial divides because everyone shouts about what should be done, yet no one reaches first for that shovel to start digging, preferring the flapping of lips to the exercise of muscles in the arm, back and legs.

Do not tell me how great you are.   Show me, as I am from Missouri.   Let us reach forth a hand to help those who are truely in need, without thought of payment or future benefit.    Let us open our hearts to toleration instead of hardening our hearts with fervor.    Let us use our TWO ears more than our ONE mouth.    Let us use our eyes to see for ourselves, our brains to consider in a forthright manner and our intellect to find those who can truely represent US instead of the interests that claim to be working on our behalf.

Let us demand our representatives join OUR Social Security, lose ALL pension and benefits when they are out of office and work to benefit our nation, rather than line their pockets.     Let us demand our government live within its means.     If that means cutting our spending by 50% then we must and just as all benefits by the largess, all must endure the hardship.   Do we really need a 5th generation fighter to fight 3rd generation wars?

Let us learn a craft.   Let us learn to use our hands, our imagination, our ingenuity, our creativeness!   Let us celebrate our nation's birthday with a promise, a pledge to improve our lives and to protect ourselves by our own wits.     Let us learn the way of the right and teach that to our children without all the pomp and circumstance that flows from religion or the body politic.

Happy Birthday America, may we put your feet back on the path, for all our sakes.

Can Americans Escape the Deception?
July 4, 2012

"..Think about that for a minute. If such a thing had actually happened, the President, Vice President, Congress, and media would have been demanding to know how such universal failure of every aspect of the national security state was possible. An investigation would have started immediately, not over a year later as a result of pressure from 9/11 families who could not be bought off with monetary payments. Such complete and total failure of every aspect of US security would mean that americans were not safe one single minute during the 40-year stand-off with the Soviet Union. At any moment the Soviets could have utterly destroyed the US and we would never have known what hit us."
"Washington’s “wars of liberation” are wars of world hegemony and wars of massive profits for the military/security complex. The combination of power and money that are the motives for Washington’s concocted wars are hidden motives, wrapped in the flag, patriotic sentiments, and fear of dark-skinned demonized Muslims.

Can Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth or any truth break through and liberate americans from the artificial reality created by government liars and a corrupt presstitute media, or are americans doomed to expire in the Matrix that has been created for them?

Perhaps the hope is that the economy will collapse under the would-be hegemons, and people who will not fight for principles and their liberty will fight for their economic survival." pcr

Marcus Tullius Cicero: "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."

"To be ignorant of what happened before you were born... is to live the life of a child for ever."

"The recovery of freedom is so splendid a thing that we must not shun even death when seeking to recover it."

"One of the highest praises which can be given to a public man who has chances of enriching himself is, that he remains poor. When a member of Congress, known not to be worth ten thousand dollars, returns to his home worth one hundred thousand dollars, the public have an instinct that he has, somehow or other, been untrue to himself and his country. When a great man returns home from Washington poorer than when he went, his influence is apt to survive his power; and this perpetuated influence is the highest glory of a public man,-the glory of Jefferson, of Hamilton, of Washington, like the voice of Gladstone during his retirement. Now Cicero had pre-eminently this influence as long as he lived; and it was ever exerted for the good of his country. Had his country been free, he would have died in honor. But his country was enslaved, and his voice was drowned, and he had to pay the penalty of speaking the truth about those unscrupulous men who usurped authority." American historian John Lord

For those who don't know (anAnonymous and other PRC+ PR agents) Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman senator during the tyrannical coup d'estat of the Republic of Rome. Cicero tried to kill Caesar, Caesar had Cicero executed before the Senate got him.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Tortuga's picture

Man, you're deep thinking there. I'll vote for the puppy!

Ghordius's picture

Is this not from his apology about how he, as a Consul, had the Catiline conspirators executed without due process? The same guy that as legal defender talked endlessly about how the Roman Citizen was sacrosanct could not risk having "dangerous" prisoners and could not risk keeping them alive, particularly not inside the Republic's borders.

Every age has it's preachers and moral apostles, don't mistake their (elegant) words with their (less elegant) deeds.

Tortuga's picture

If they were conspirators, they didn't deserve no process, which is exactly what we need some of today, less process, more perp walks.

God Bless America, RICO all banksters and their HO politicians and IMPEACH that racist Eric Holder.

Tijuana Donkey Show's picture

Yea, well you need to frame the full context of that statement. The Catiline conspirators had forced an issue where he didn't have time or the risk to have a trial when the Republic was in such danger. The drive to be first among equals broke the back of the Republic, and Cicero was the lucky guy who got the last ticket on the Titanic. Cicero was also a Roman elite who was a pacifist, didn't like the military, and declined even having statues of Mars in his home. He made the best worst decision at the time, I can only hope that someone in our government can go and execute a pool of lobbyists, elite,  and bankers without trial in defense of the republic, as Julius Caesar sits somewhere in their group. I come not to praise Caesar, but to bail him out.......

Ghordius's picture

LOL +1. If you put it this way, then we could "hope" for a "good" member of the current elite, a pacifist and staunch defender of the rule of law becoming prez, then facing an armed conspiracy of the gilded elites (as you say, a pool of lobbyists, bankers, etc. - there are enough private armies around), then defeating them, and then explaining in the Senate and before the press with elegant word that he could not bear to let them live and that a process - even a military jury - would not be advisable. Plenty of fresh & new precedents around of not applying national and international law in regard to prisoners. Please remember that the rebels were exactly this: prisoners. And the most dangerous part of them was what they would have said in a process.

This would then justify a young senator to oppose this breach of procedure and law, make a lot of political hay out of it and and pave the way to his future dictatorship. That easy and foreseeable.

MEN ARE EITHER RULED BY LAWS OR BY MEN, and the true king of the land is custom. you create precedents at your own peril...

blindman's picture

"Ladies and gentlemen: I little thought that when the boys woke me with their noise this morning that I should be called upon to add to their noise. But I promise not to keep you long. You have heard all there is to hear on the subject, the evidence is all in and all I have to do is to sum up the evidence and deliver the verdict. You have heard the declaration of independence with its majestic ending, which is worthy to live forever, which has been hurled at the bones of a fossilized monarch, old King George the III, who has been dead these many years, and which will continue to be hurled at him annually as long as this republic lives. You have heard the history of the nation from the first to the last--from the beginning of the revolutionary war, past the days of its great general, Grant, told in eloquent language by the orator of the day. All I have to do is to add the verdict, which is all that can be added, and that is, 'It is a successful day.' I thank the officers of the day that I am enabled to once more stand face to face with the citizens that I met thirty years ago, when I was a citizen of Iowa, and also those of a later generation. In the address to-day, I have not heard much mention made of the progress of these last few years--of the telegraph, telephone, phonograph, and other great inventions. A poet has said, 'Better fifty years of England than all the cycles of Cathay,' but I say 'Better this decade than the 900 years of Methuselah.' There is more done in one year now than Methuselah ever saw in all his life. He was probably asleep all those 900 years. When I was here thirty years ago there were 3,000 people here and they drank 3,000 barrels of whisky a day, and they drank it in public then. I know that the man who makes the last speech on an occasion like this has the best of the other speakers, as he has the last word to say, which falls like a balm on the audience--though this audience has not been bored to-day--and though I can't say that last word, I will do the next best thing I can, and that is to sit down."

williambanzai7's picture

It is amazing and ironic how we have regressed in the direction of the Soviet State.

Our economy is a command economy.

We have a huge welfare infrastructure (for both ends of the economic spectrum as you point out) that we cannot afford.

We are obsessed with spending on military, which we cannot afford.

We are smothered in so much regulation it is virtually impossible for a small entrepreneur to start a small business.

Our government spies on us incessantly.

Our internal security apparatus is growing exponentially.

Open public dissension is dealt with brutally.

Our media is a propaganda machine.

It is good to be a member of the crony party.

For years I've believed that the US is nothing more than a very wealthy banana republic where most people won't notice the criminal skimming.  The low waters of the economic crisis have now revealed the thievery and the nascent police state and proven that this theory was true.  Human nature is the same everywhere, so how could that not have been expected?
