Consider this, as you question the status quo so very well (and for which I personally thank you):

Perhaps your love for this country enables "them" to do what they're doing to it.

My personal opinion is that "nations" are actually the problem. Just another region to tax with a different pattern to the flag and different customs, that's all. Real freedom doesn't need any of it.
