It has now been slightly more than two years since I did the original version of this table. It was one of the first Banzai7 works reposted by Tyler Durden. Much has happened since then. Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse. The blatant pattern of organized criminal fraud on Wall Street has continued unabated.
The Banksta perps and their reckless, feeble and/or complicit executive managers have not been brought to justice by the incumbant clown circus and nothing leads us to believe that this state of affairs will somehow be reversed until the next economic collapse is truly upon us.
In the meantime, let us not allow anyone to perpetuate the deception that Barrack or Mitt Obamney are anything other than what they are:

No, history will judge her on the value of her work, not on what some fucktard fractional reserve banker acolyte did. Will you be judged by those who admire your work (including me)? No, your work will stand on its own, and only idiots would judge you by the comments under it. The minus one I gave for disappointment still leaves you at plus 999, btw. Still. Disappointed. I don't believe you've read her two greatest novels or the articles that followed. Guilt by association is just as invalid as ad hominem, and I'm sure you know that. MSM likes to smear her name with Greenspan's performance as lead criminal of the world, in order to dissuade people from reading her work. Still, the knowledge she unleashed is leaking out.
By the way, when Greenspan accepted the job at the Fed, I was shocked. I re-read his treatise on gold as money again and again, looking for the flaw. I found it in what was omitted. What was omitted was that nothing he said opposed fractional reserve banking and legal tender laws. In other words, he was advocating a pseudo gold standard, under government/bankster control. (And he also didn't mention that bankers and the wealthy had been trapping governments in debt even when gold was used as money.) All this is beside the point, but ... I'm just being long-winded so that you know my disappointment was not intended as a slight. I admire and am grateful for your work.
The value of Ayn Rand's work stands on its own. I used it to claim my life for myself, it woke me up out of some kind of stupid fog. That's the value it has to me.

I was impressed by her in college. Her ideas fit in with other existential ideas I was playing with way back when. But I forgot about her. Decades later she resurfaced in the political economic gestalt of the free market Taliban led by that moron Greedspan.
I have a mixed view about the efficacy of market regulation. however, I never believed the market would regulate itself. Greed, fraud and corruption in the market are not self regulated, they are self perpetuating.
The truth is the SEC was once an institution one could respect. It was relatively independent, it had very competent people and it policed the market. In 20 years it has become the laughing stock of the world. I never imagined I would be calling it a porn palace.
As I understand it, Rand had a special relationship with Greenspan. She was a mentor of some sort. As such she deserves a large measure of responsibility for the deeds of her star pupil. Deeds clearly undertaken with her teachings in mind. Mis moron rubric has caused serious damage.
A mixed economy can never 'regulate' itself. Faith in regulatory agencies seems to decline with our own realization about the perverted incentives that inevitably corrupt any bureaucracy. Even if an agency starts out with committed, honest agents, eventually they will be pushed out. The very concept of regulatory democracy itself is now being called into question as the very existence of one after another teeters towards collapse. I think the canard that everything would be all right if we just got the right people to run everything has pretty well been put to rest (or will be, soon).
I cannot speak for Rand, but I am convinced in my own judgment that she would have been horrified at the prospect of someone claiming to be educated by her taking the mantle as chairman of the largest criminal organization in the history of mankind. I think she would have loudly and publicly disowned him (generating yet another round of ad hominem attacks, no doubt). None of us are infallible. And we cannot control the actions of those we teach.
If you actually read the novels, you are the first person I've ever encountered that had the ability to forget about them. Interesting.

I've done lots of reading in my time. Most of it runs in the background. There are many things I read a long time ago that have suddenly jumped out with unexpected relevance. It keeps things interesting.
Unfortunately for people like Keynes and Rand, their names have become symbols. On the other hand, they are both dead, but their ideas live on in various permutations of Greenspans twisted reality ;-)
Can't deny that symbols with perverted meanings are the depth of understanding for most, and end up influencing events to an appalling degree. Just last week I watched a large group of people marching in a parade proudly carrying torture symbols that they worship. Still, that efforts are made to twist a body of work into an easily dismissed symbol, does not mean Rand's ideas were carried into reality by Greenspan. Because they weren't.
