Words of War

Bruce Krasting's picture

I had an interesting conversation with a fellow who lives in Europe and has been connected to the spook world in the past. (See this for prior discussions with him.) It went like this:

Paris

Have you been watching the events in Syria?

BK

Not really. I’m not sure what, if any, are the implications of this is.

Paris

You should. Things are moving faster and faster. For example, have you seen the level of fighting in the streets of Damascus the past few days?

.

.

.

BK

No. It seems there is fighting every day.

Paris

There is now heavy fighting in the capital of Damascus. Clearly, the opposition has grown substantially for this to happen. It also means that the fighters are being armed. They would not take on a battle in the capital unless they were well armed.

BK

Interesting. Where are they getting these arms?

Paris

The same place that the Libyans got theirs, the Qataris and the Saudis.

BK

Ah! How do the Saudis and Qataris get arms into Syria?

Paris

Through Turkey, of course. You don’t think those Turkish jets got shot down by accident do you? This was the excuse for Erdogon (Turkish President) to get involved. Now he is.

BK

Why would Erdogon want to get involved in the Syrian mess?

Paris

He sees himself as a guardian of the Sunni. What we are witnessing is the re-emergence of the Ottoman Empire. What is happening is that Syria is in a civil war, but behind this is a religious war. Sunni versus Shia. The fighting today is in the streets of Syria, but in the end, this is a war between the Saudis and the Iranians.

BK Where's this headed?

Paris

At this point, the USA is sharing any intelligence it has with all “friendly” interested parties, including the Turks, the Israelis, the Qataris and the Saudis. Given that all of these countries are also “leakers” of info, it is a safe bet that the Russians have the same info and are passing it along to the Iranians. It’s an equally safe bet the Iranians are very angry at this. In particular, they are pissed at the Qataris. And that gets us right back to the Straits of Hormuz.

.

.

BK

Are you saying Iran might attack Qatar?

Paris

No, I wouldn’t think so. That would be suicide. The Americans have two aircraft carriers and a full fleet of other ships available to crush any aggression by Iran. But that is the point, all Iran needs do is threaten Qatar, and the price of crude shoots up. With it, would go insurance charges for the ships that ply those waters. A few well-placed mines would do the trick.

BK

Do you think it will play out like that?

Paris

The Iranians truly hate the Saudis, the Saudis hate the Iranians just as much. Today there is a new excuse to hate each other, Syria.

As to the odds, who knows? But I think that the odds are greater for something to happen to escalate what we are seeing today, versus a return to regional stability.

BK

Timing?

Paris

Impossible to say. Keep in mind that Obama and Hilary Clinton have effectively put Israel on a leash as far as Iran’s nukes are concerned until after the American election. The Iranians know this, and they understand that November is not so far away. The US does not have the Israelis tied up regarding matters in Syria.

I don’t see how “they” can put a lid on all of this. There are too many moving parts. Do the Iranians have an interest in stirring up a hornet’s nest before November? Sure they do. It could be a matter of weeks.

.

Note:

Qatar produces (only) 1.3m barrels of crude a day. However, they are the largest producer of liquified natural gas (LNG) in the world. .

No, I didn't skip over the UK - I pointed out that the US is no less a Big Brother state than theirs.

How is the NZ government not rebuilding Christchurch as quickly as people would like a sign of their lack of freedom? In a free country, the state wouldn't be involved in rebuilding at all, would it? As it happens NZers are a lot happier with their country's response to the earthquake than Americans were with Katrina.

On further research I'll concede that relative to median prices, NZ house prices are up there with the UK and Aus - but this is merely a sign their housing bubble hasn't yet burst. 5 years ago, the US had higher (relative) house prices - are you suggesting that the US has somehow become more 'free' because we've had a house price crash? Despite the continuing rise of the TSA and other police state apparatus?

Cars - they have plenty of cheap imports from Japan. I know this because I bought & sold one during my holiday there.

Taxes - their tax rate / GDP rate is 34% vs the US 26%... but their government debt / GDP is 33% vs our 102%. I know which one I find find more repressive.

...especially since my wife was one of the folks they were trying to lure over there - which is where the 'open door' policy came from

As it happens, like all countries, NZ attempts to attract migrants with certain skillsets and makes it easier for them to get work visas or even resident status. But if your example of them wanting your wife proves they have an 'open door's policy, what does that say about your wife?

you are a bloody internet clown making claims

Let's see now. I've called you on virtually every claim you've made... but I'm the clown?

PS - Neither Germany, Italy, Australia, Britain or New Zealand has anything remotely like the NDAA or the TSA... but I guess you just think of those as freedom enhancers.

shhs, see, when you state simple geo-military matters as plainly as this, well, there goes half the posts here at ZH on anything to do with the military or Israel.  So remember: the US, with more military tonnage than the history of God, is a puppett of a state the size of new hampshire surrounded by bat-shit insane medieval societies.

Sounds rational to me.

The United States is not capable of being leashed any more than King Kong.  Don't pretend that a money system created by U.S. minds holds the nation in check.  The fiat system has nothing to do with the political, commercial, and military ties to the remainder of the world.

The world looks to us for answers and stable leadership.

Johnny6P, the blondes had that big ape completely wrapped up. Its very similar to the way the ZH Jew-haters are blinded by their bigotry. It comes out big-time whenever they need to vent their personal frustrations. I won't even mention the pitifully small size of their penises!

This last comment put my remarks on their level of humanity.

Bruce, conversation, this morning, on the phone. Not trying to let the spooks in on your source are you. You should study up on "OPSEC" procedures. Just saying.

who cares? caller, callee and call content have been recorded. Once that CIA spy hypercomputer comes online, it will process a transcript of all phone conversations (a-la Google but with improved speech-to-text engine) and then run through a semantic engine (and probably through a nodal analysis neural net as well or who knows what other tools they could possibly dispose of) and figure out everything which can be known about bruce, present or past.

Unless the phone conversation was throroughly encrypted, there was no OPSEC to begin with. Obfuscated language, jargon and non-related pre-agreed codewords to designate certain things might prevent sementic engines from tagging the call - at least for a few years until their sensitivity improves - but not if either party was already tagged for more focused surveillance.

Is US arming of Syrian Rebel forces supposed to be a secret?

The Legalist philosophers of China emphasized the primacy of the state over individual autonomy. The lone individual had no legitimate civil rights and any personal freedom had to strengthen the ruler. Fundamentally, the Legalists viewed the plebeian (common people of lower class) and their actions as evil and foolish. However, Legalism allowed the common people to gain in rank if they performed well. For example, soldiers would gain in rank according to the number of heads the soldiers collected.

I can understand why we are the rebels against the Syrian government given their ties to Iran.  What is with us handing over Lybia and Egypt to the muslim extremists that we are supposedly at war with?  I truly don't get this and if anybody can clue me in please do.

Yu are not at war with Muslim extremists of any kind, nor Muslim peeples, nor their governments.

Yur own government has been hijacked by sionist extremists who are trying to distract yur attention from their plans to defraud yu of all that yu own, and remove yur right to protest such plans.

So called groups like Muslim Brotherhood\Al Qaeda\etc. etc. are creations of the British MI6\Merikan CIA working under the command of israels' Mossad to create conditions suitable for a war of east against west, with sionists claiming the spoils.

The Iranian and Syrian peeples like and admire Merikans and only want peace and friendship with them. The rest is up to yu.

I thought I had some comments, but, like our best brains on this board are demonstrating by their absence, I realize, now isn't the time to expose yourself as a thinker! The perpetators have, as always, convinced themselves of their own genius, and the long term invincibility of their plans, tactics, and the superiority of their ideology, The Ideology is the most important ingredient, even more than military force, it is the motive force which sets the whole thing in motion, perhaps people are actualizing the "Will of God", as it has been explained to them by a recognized authority in these things, anyway, if it is God's will that you should have this land all you have to do is take it! With God on their side, who could fail? Many, in the past have gone into battle with God at their side, yet when they turned to Him for help, they found he had gone home early, no doubt these where believers in an inferior Ideology, I know the truth, the man on the TV told it to me!

All very interesting, and mostly spot-on. Except the part about Israel being on an American leash. It's been the other way around for decades. The Jews snap their fingers, America jumps through a hoop. Nathan Yahoo will strike Iran when he sees fit: probably far enough ahead of the US election to spike oil/gas prices and keep them spiked long enough to remove Obama and bring in the more reliable,  100% neo-con ZOGstooge Romney. At a minimum, general MidEast blow-up------>dollar collapse.....at the max, if Russia refuses to permit Isramerican take-down of Iran: WW III. 45 days and counting.

Rubbish.  The whole imbroglio in Syria is a product of Russian machinations to create a pretext for a chemical SCUD missile assault on Israel that will be used as a trigger for global nuclear war.  Moscow has been planning and executing this from top to bottom for decades:

And BTW the Syrian 'opposition' isn't getting their arms through Turkey so much as directly receiving their weaponry FROM THE SYRIAN ARMY.  Follow the link above for more.
