VP Biden Wins Prestigious “Postpony” Award
The Vice President had this to say yesterday:
No changes in Social Security?? Joe B "guarantees" that? Who is he making this promise to? There are only two possibilities. Either Biden is flat out lying, or he is a fool.
Social Security is a “here and now” issue. It should be a matter that is part of the debate in the coming election. Charles Blahous, a Social Security Trustee, had this to say last weekend about the current status of America’s biggest entitlement program (Link):
“To me, urgent doesn’t begin to describe it. I would say we’re somewhere between critical and too late to deal with it.”
Critical? Too late? If this is what a Trustee of Social Security is saying, then what is Biden selling?
I’m going to give Biden an award for his words. I call it the “Postpony”. I’m tired of the phrase, “kick the can down the road”. When Biden spoke about SS he was kicking the can. He was pushing a strategy of postponing a debate/resolution of something that is important for the country’s medium and longer-term future. This is politics at its worst. Joe B. is just trying to buy some votes. So the VEEP gets the “POSTPONY”. A picture of the plaque:

I can’t think of an election where the VP candidate actually made a difference in the final vote. Maybe 2012 will be different.
Those who are under 50 today, and working, are going to get stiffed (big time) by Social Security. They will have 12.4% of their wages sucked out of their pockets and into a sinkhole. That money will be used to “deliver” on the promise that Joey B made to the baby boomers in VA yesterday. When those who were born after 1965 try to retire, there will be no money left in the SS Trust Fund. The under 50 set will recieve only 70% of what the boomers get (Current law). That's a lot of people who should be thinking about this issue as they vote.
I’m looking forward to the debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan (I’m not in love with this guy either). A question that I would like them to answer:
The Social Security Trust Fund reported to Congress that the Social Security Disability Fund will run out in 2015. Either benefits for 12mm people will get cut by 30% (current law), or any shortfall (mega $s) will have to come from more deficits and debt.
The next Administration will have to “fix” this problem. This is not a maybe; it’s a sure thing. What are the candidate’s plans for this fix?

payroll taxes should be abolished. 401k's and ira and all the other savings accounts---education included----should be rolled up into ONE voluntary tax savings retirement account that has a limit of 100k dollars per year contribution per beneficiary tax free and untaxed upon withdrawal.

as for restructuring social security. that is easy. ALL ss. recipients should have to pass a means test every year to recieve it.
1) other than the primary residence ----all financial and real property above 1 million dollars disqualifies you from recieving social security.
2) every year youre income is above 100k disqualifies you from recieving your social security.

next up ----gutting the medical insurance system-----my vote is for fully socializing medicare in order to gut it. All people below the age of 60 get basic health care. all people above that age --the people who account for 90% of the cost of treatment-----must be dealt with because they are bankrupting the entire system. if you want the best healthcare to live forever you better be rich. the value of a young persons health ---in terms of labor---is far more useful to a healthy society---than the current situation we have in which the old are bankrupting the healthcare system so that the young cannot access healthcare. the 'public' healthcare we had BEFORE obama care was broken. obama is going to break it even more ---makes no difference-----the only progress that can be made is after the system totally breaks down to the point where it can no longer be ignored that it is broken.
The first thing to be done is to establish death panels. somehow the republicans made this sound 'bad' . call it death panels or call it not allowing the current model of healthcare to bankrupt the taxpayers so that old people can funnel money to private health providers. the entire system operates right now in the same manner as a crookedly run nursing home meant , above all else, to bilk as much money from its residents as possible by pronlonging their sickness----not prolonging their health.
all seniors under government care must accept whatever care they can be afforded at the cheapest possible cost, and if there is no money to keep them alive an extra 6 months for 300k dollars----then too bad for them---their fucking grandkids deserve not to have to be forced to not have affordable medicare because their 80 year old grandma wanted to 'live'' as a sick person paying the private insurers retarded money to keep her in a hospital for 6 months till she died.
there are a lot of ways to go with this:
- Collect Social as long as you don't own or drive a car.
- Discharge student loans by annual percentage provided you agree not to have a child, a greater percentage amount providd you don't own or drive a car.
- Food stamps, Section 8, disability benefits only if you agree not to have a child, own or drive a car.
- Pay Medicare benefits directly to patients not to MDs (I guarantee there would be a lot of hard bargaining going on in doctors' offices!) Payments by Medicare would be limited to amounts contributed. (Get finance credit out of healthcare and costs would plunge.)
- Cram down mortgages and bankrupt entities producing fraudulent loans prosecuting all fraud cases that come to light (probably need to double the prison population).
- Depositors would have the right to retrieve a percentage of their deposits in specie (would banks have to be careful or not? A percentage of bank capital would by necessity be specie as would reserves.)
- Etc. It's not hard to come up with good ideas when you swap conservation with waste.
I wish we could see the 'exploits' of all candidates, wouldn't it be nice to see the real men we will vote for.
