9/11 Commissioner and Co-Chair of Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 Say in Sworn Declarations that Saudi Government Linked to 9/11

George Washington's picture

Two former senators – one a 9/11 Commissioner, the other the co-chair of the joint Congressional inquiry into 9/11 – state in sworn declarations that the Saudi government backed the 9/11 attack.

The New York Times reports:

For more than a decade, questions have lingered about the possible role of the Saudi government in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, even as the royal kingdom has made itself a crucial counterterrorism partner in the eyes of American diplomats.

Now, in sworn statements that seem likely to reignite the debate, two former senators who were privy to top secret information on the Saudis’ activities say they believe that the Saudi government might have played a direct role in the terrorist attacks.

“I am convinced that there was a direct line between at least some of the terrorists who carried out the September 11th attacks and the government of Saudi Arabia,” former Senator Bob Graham, Democrat of Florida, said in an affidavit filed as part of a lawsuit brought against the Saudi government and dozens of institutions in the country by families of Sept. 11 victims and others. Mr. Graham led a joint 2002 Congressional inquiry into the attacks.

As we noted last year:

The Co-Chair of the Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 and former Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bob Graham, previously stated that an FBI informant had hosted and rented a room to two hijackers in 2000 and that, when the Inquiry sought to interview the informant, the FBI refused outright, and then hid him in an unknown location, and that a high-level FBI official stated these blocking maneuvers were undertaken under orders from the White House (confirmed here).

Today, Graham called for a new 9/11 investigation. As Raw Story notes:

Graham on Monday called on the U.S. government to reopen its investigation into 9/11 after a report found that links between Saudi Arabia and the hijackers were never disclosed by the FBI to the 2002 joint Congressional intelligence committee investigating the attacks.

“In the final report of the congressional inquiry, there was a chapter related primarily to the Saudi role in 9/11 that was totally censored, every word of the chapter has been withheld from the public,” Graham said on MSNBC’s The Dylan Ratigan Show.

“Some of the other questions we ought to be asking are if we know that the Saudis who lived in San Diego and now apparently in Sarasota received substantial assistance, what about the Saudis who lived in Phoenix, Arizona? Or Arlington, Virginia? … What was happening in those places?”

“I believe these are questions for which there are definitive answers, but the American people and largely their elected representatives have been denied that information.”

The Times continues:

His former Senate colleague, Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, a Democrat who served on the separate 9/11 Commission, said in a sworn affidavit of his own in the case that “significant questions remain unanswered” about the role of Saudi institutions. “Evidence relating to the plausible involvement of possible Saudi government agents in the September 11th attacks has never been fully pursued,” Mr. Kerrey said.

Their affidavits, which were filed on Friday and have not previously been disclosed, are part of a multibillion-dollar lawsuit that has wound its way through federal courts since 2002. An appellate court, reversing an earlier decision, said in November that foreign nations were not immune to lawsuits under certain terrorism claims, clearing the way for parts of the Saudi case to be reheard in United States District Court in Manhattan.

***

The Saudis are seeking to have the case dismissed in part because they say American inquiries — including those in which Mr. Graham and Mr. Kerrey took part — have essentially exonerated them. A recent court filing by the Saudis prominently cited the 9/11 Commission’s “exhaustive” final report, which “found no evidence that the Saudi government as an institution or senior Saudi individuals funded” Al Qaeda.

But Mr. Kerrey and Mr. Graham said that the findings should not be seen as an exoneration and that many important questions about the Saudis’ role had never been fully examined, partly because their panels simply did not have the time or resources given their wider scope.

Terry Strada of New Vernon, N.J., whose husband died in the World Trade Center, said it was “so absurd that it’s laughable” for the Saudis to claim that the federal inquiries had exonerated them.

Unanswered questions include the work of a number of Saudi-sponsored charities with financial links to Al Qaeda, as well as the role of a Saudi citizen living in San Diego at the time of the attacks, Omar al-Bayoumi, who had ties to two of the hijackers and to Saudi officials, Mr. Graham said in his affidavit.

Still, Washington has continued to stand behind Saudi Arabia publicly, with the Justice Department joining the kingdom in trying to have the lawsuits thrown out of court on the grounds that the Saudis are protected by international immunity.

As we’ve repeatedly noted:

9/11 Commissioner Bob Kerrey said that “There are ample reasons to suspect that there may be some alternative to what we outlined in our version . . . We didn’t have access . . . .” He also says that it might take “a permanent 9/11 commission” to end the remaining mysteries of September 11

Indeed, while everyone remembers the false allegations about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, most forget that the other primary justification for the war was the false linkage between Iraq and 9/11.

The failure to really investigate 9/11 led us into a disastrous war … which has virtually bankrupted our country.

Unfortunately, the endless wars in the Middle East and North Africa are about oil, not national security (and see this).

So we have idiots like MSNBC talking head Joe Scarborough saying that – even if the Saudi government backed the 9/11 attacks – Saudi oil is too important to do anything about it:

I have heard it said many times that Rothschild Satanists/Illuminists despise Israel and want it destroyed and wiped out, but I have concluded that is complete baloney, a deliberate misrepresentation, a considered and constructed deception which they have been forced to resort to as the connections become more obvious and undeniable between them.

'Satan' in various archaic Scriptures is described as the "Great deceiver", "the Father of Lies", etc.

And these Satanist/illuminati are worshiping such a 'God' ... but we're supposed to then believe what they sincerely say ... right? ... 'bout them really hating Israel, displaying pure contempt for it, and wanting it wiped out?

Hang on a minute, aren't these the same people who got it set-up as a Jewish State?

Masonic Lodges are widely reported and also admitted by former illuminist 'family' adherents, to historically be the core modern era organisation the illuminists have infiltrated and usurped.

Thus it became a Rothschild-backed organisation that we now know as 'Illuminati', which has a hidden hand of control of Freemasonry.

Have a look at the front-door panels of your local Masonic Lodge.  Take a photo.  You'll find it embossed with the "Star of David" hexagram, the same as the flag of Israel.

Now look at this aerial photograph of Heathrow Airport London, from 1955.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Aerial_photograph_of_Heathrow_Airport,...

This is how in-your-face the house of Rothschild are.

This is 'their' airport built for their 'City of London', and they don't care if you realise it.

Yeah, they must really hate Israel, given this photo is only eight years older than the State of Israel.

Israel has Red-Shield's defining symbol at their flag for a reason, it's Rothschild's territory and don't you ever forget it.

But they distance themselves from this fact via this myth that they want it destroyed.

element, even bees use this construction technique based on the hexagon

if you take the Bavarian Illuminati as the source of the Illuminati, then you would have to exclude any jewish partecipation - they were Catholic

for the Masons (originated from the builders of the cathedrals), the Star of David is the simbol of the union of the divine (triangle pointing up) and the human (triangle pointing down), which is a symbol for Jesus (same as on orthodox icons - the red/human tunic and the blue/divine mantle)

further, the early Zionists begged the Rothschilds to become prominent in their struggle, even proposed them as the new sovereign house of Israel - the Rothschilds were lukewarm to it

this "Red-Shield" propaganda meme is a bit thin, if you allow me, an incredible simplification for those who don't care for complicated history

if you really hate the scions of the Rothschilds of old, you would have to suspect that they want to bring back the gold standard that made them so powerful

Come off it please.

A hexagon is a geometric polygon.

A hexagram symbol is totally different.

Bees use it?!  The show me a bee produced hexagram on a honeycombe.

If you will allow, that really is propaganda mate.

I fail to see any definitive complex Hystery that is not riddled with every form of deliberate and accidental mythology, and also deliberate and accidental lies.

And I can't tell which is deliberate and which is accidental, let alone determine which is a lie and which is actually true.

But I can see connections and themes and I know Hystery has been systematically altered to make sure it can not be thus comprehended.

I apologise if you have been mislead into believing you can see into the past, any more than you can but mentally surmise a possible 'future'.

But I can discern enough to see what is happening now, and who's doing it, and also what was happening in the past, and who was doing it then, and I can see they are mostly the same peoples, tribes and families, organisations and structures.

So it can't all really be hidden, by time and the endless massaging of lie and myth with truth.

And it's why a sceptic's acerbic remarks or assertion of 'thin'-ness, means rather less than not a lot.

And that is why I disdain the numerous complexity versions which you seem to favour, or else are in thrall of, and why I refer to it all as a form of 'Hystery'.

And I think my spelling, capitalisation an derivation of the word is more germane and allegorically precise than the former.

I have no commitment to consistency based upon hysterical narrative, as it can not be taken seriously.  Even Hystery revisionists miss most of what really happened.

Element, if I had some more huble way of making my remarks I would have used it - English is not my best language.

There is a huge amount of lies, half-lies and half-truths on which a probing mind stumbles on the quest for truth. What I appreciate is the probing.

Yes, I agree with you, some is deliberate, some is accidental, and sometimes it's just impossible to tell the things apart.

You just happened to make a comment on a bunch of 19th century themes on which I researched and have an opinion, that's all. And yes, history is constantly being hampered with. Constantly.

Nice touch, "Hystery" - lol. But please, don't disdain complexity, IMHO it's life itself.

Yes, I've sensed that about you.

Ok you have a view.  I don't know it and I never will, as it's no-doubt more complex than you can communicate to another, even if they were somewhat up-to-speed an shared the same mental tools and connections.

A lot of people don't recognise that actual inability to communicate a full meaning via complexity.

I suppose you do, a bit, maybe.

I NEVER disdain complexity itself, that would be completely pointless,

Just the reading of too-much into it or coming to believe you've understand its key components and mystery.

That never happens - NEVER.

We, "see through a glass darkly"

I've always loved this phrase.

I have nothing against it - it's just IMO a dangerous path to use simplifications in order to convey higher truths - though this is the very way we are introduced to the world when we are children, isn't it? I think our differences in outlook are only a reflection on of our age difference.

I love that phrase too - it's similar to one of my darlings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave

Fri, 03/02/2012 - 09:31 | 2216389 Element
Element's picture

I am very familiar with that story, it brilliantly captures the problem the mind faces, and the exquisite social and political implications and dangers, and the turmoil of re-entering that cave, just to be met again with the same, when you actually know its all bollocks ... and can't communicate the truth of that.

But I realise others have to get out there themselves, and if they don't that's too bad, because I can't communicate the unspeakable, I can only watch people shadow-boxing, and getting nowhere.  At best you maybe get them to give up what they're stuck on, and move on again.

I have read a lot of complex Hystery when I was younger and I became quite the 'non-fiction' fan, until I finally realised the non-fiction was actually all still fiction.  I stopped at that point and went in many different directions and numerous dead ends.

I came to a view that the indulging of complexity of description, of the shadows, and what cast them, was a very dangerous path to take, as it was implicitly delusional.

And I discovered how right I was about that.

So I doubt the orientation difference has much to do with our respective age as I suspect I'm older than you think.

>> we can't have a criminal investigation of the crimeOfTheCentury?

The century has only just begun. I think there will be a lot more crimes worse than this one.

Even if you meant crime of the last 100 years ... probably not. Few thousand killed. Few hundred billion in gold stolen. Not such a big crime by 20th Century standards.

Not even a very big crime by the standards of the US government on foreign countries. The CIA's covert and overt wars of the last century probably killed in the order of 5-10 million people, and made trillions of dollars in return. It's not even big by the standards of US corporations (heres a crime of profit for reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster)

Really. This wasn't a very big crime. It was a very THEATRIC crime. It had to be, to wake the American public up from their TV Dinner, High Fructose Corn Syrup induced coma. To rage at the evil muslim terrorists that interupted their important lives investing in high tech companies that make nothing.

It wasn't even a very careful crime. The details of it are laughably wrong. Anyone who knows the thermal conductivity of steel, the modulus of elasticity of same at different temperatures, the momentum generated by a single floor collapsing, the engineer rule of thumb (6X max load bearing). i.e. anyone who knows anything about science and/or engineering knows that the whole thing is an elaborate hoax. It was, in fact, a bit of a rushed job.

As to the perpetrators, it was probably these people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khazars)

Go back into History. Check how a wandering tribe head was made into a King and the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia was created by the British.

Then go back to the Spanish inquisition and the trail to Turkey . Do your homework. And then you will find the answer.

Lawrence of Arabia preferred the Sheikh of Mecca, the Hashemite ancestor. But the British Raj post WW1 Ottoman demantelement, having named Hashemite princes as rulers  in Jordan (and later in Irak), having seen Saud upstart capture Hejaz, probably wanted some divide and rule shenanigans, by naming Saud clan as their elected one in Mecca and thence in Saudi Arabia. Too much Hashemite rule spoiled the broth!

Of course that Saud idiot then had the gall of finding OIL like nobody else with Aramco, once FDR shook his hand in Port Said on his return from Yalta, displacing British Raj as his good uncle from then on. Aramco, the 4 US seven-sister construct, never looked back. So the Brits had to eat their hearts out and content themselves with Kuwait, Irak and Iran.

Until Uncle Sam took over the whole shooting match by making ME oil patch petrodollar land in 1973! Pax Americana, Bitchezz!

An Assassination Attempt?

Bush awoke a little before 6:00 a.m. on September 11, pulled on shorts and an old T-shirt and laced up his running shoes. [CBS, 11/1/02] At 6:30 a.m., Bush, a reporter friend, and his Secret Service crew took a four-mile jog in the half-light of dawn around a nearby golf course. [Washington Post, 1/27/02, Washington Post, 09/11/01]

At about the same time Bush was getting ready for his jog, a van carrying several Middle Eastern men pulled up to the Colony’s guard station. The men said they were a television news crew with a scheduled “poolside” interview with the president. They asked for a certain Secret Service agent by name. The message was relayed to a Secret Service agent inside the resort, who hadn’t heard of the agent mentioned or of plans for an interview. He told the men to contact the president’s public relations office in Washington, DC, and had the van turned away. [Longboat Observer, 9/26/01]

General Ahmed Shah Massoud.

The Secret Service may have foiled an assassination attempt. Two days earlier, Ahmed Shah Massoud, leader of Afghanistan’s Northern Alliance, had been murdered by a similar ruse. Two North African men, posing as journalists from “Arabic News International,” had been requesting an interview with Massoud since late August. Ahmad Jamsheed, Massoud’s secretary, said that by the night of September 8, “they were so worried and excitable, they were begging us.” An interview was arranged for the following day. As it began, a bomb hidden in the video camera exploded, killing the two journalists. Massoud was rushed by helicopter to a hospital in Tajikistan, but was pronounced dead on arrival (although his death was not acknowledged until September 15). [International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism, 10/30/01, Newsday, 10/26/01] The assassination is widely believed to have been timed to remove the Taliban’s most popular and respected opponent in anticipation of the backlash that would occur after the 9/11 attacks. [BBC, 9/10/01, BBC, 9/10/01 (B), Time, 8/4/02, St. Petersburg Times, 9/9/02] The Northern Alliance blamed al-Qaeda and the ISI, Pakistan’s secret service, for the attacks. [Radio Free Europe, 9/10/01, Newsday, 9/15/01, Reuters, 10/4/01]

Nearly three hours after the incident at the Colony, another Longboat Key resident reported a run-in with possibly the same men. At about 8:50 (when reports of the first World Trade Center crash were first broadcast), while standing on the Sarasota bay front waiting for the presidential motorcade to pass by, this man saw two Middle Eastern men in a dilapidated van “screaming out the windows ‘Down with Bush’ and raising their fists in the air.” The FBI questioned the man, but it’s not known if this was the same van that had visited the Colony. [Longboat Observer, 9/26/01]

Later on the morning of September 11, the Secret Service searched a Sarasota apartment looking for further corroboration of Zainlabdeen Omer’s report of an assassination threat. Three Sudanese men were questioned for about ten hours. The Secret Service also raided a beauty supply store in Sarasota, whose owner, identified as “Hakim,” told the agents that “Ghandi” was a member of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army, a group fighting against the fundamentalist Muslim government in Sudan. [Hopsicker, 7/22/02]

Monica Yadav of Sarasota’s ABC News 40 reported that a few days after the Secret Service visit, the beauty supply store was closed up and Hakim was long gone. Yadav also learned that Zainlabdeen Omer had suddenly quit his jobs and vacated his apartment. “All I know is he can’t leave town,” a friend of Omer’s told Yadav. “Omer got in a lot of trouble with the law.” The Special Agent in charge of the Presidential detail in Sarasota told Yadav that Bush was never in any danger and the various warnings and possible terrorist connections were all “just a coincidence.” [Hopsicker, 7/22/02] Yet, as we will see below, there are more details of a threat against Bush before he left Sarasota.

It's all just speculation, but then again so much of that day and the official story is that way as well.

Best book I've ever read on 911 is Michael Ruppert's "Crossing the Rubicon".  Verrrry interesting.

'Synthetic Terror' by Webster Tarpley is much better without all the simplistic Peak Oil/sustainable resource and energy scarcity bias that makes Ruppert's book read like an obvious dime store crime scene.

Harry Hartounian: Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing.
Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R.! I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.
[the Sniper points to Navin's name in the phone book]

Talk about synchronicity!  New phone books arrived at our house today, and as I brought them in from the doorstep I was paraphrasing & acting out Steve Martin's routine just as you wrote it.

That fucking blows me away!  What are the odds?
