How to Clear Your Google Browsing and Video History Before the New Google "Privacy" Policy Is Implemented

George Washington's picture

Google launches its new “privacy” policy tomorrow. Many commentators have said that the new policy will weaken privacy protections, and allow Google to gather enormous amounts of information across its multiple platforms … and keep the information forever.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has two how-to guides on how to remove data from Google and Youtube searches.

Here are EFF’s instructions regarding clearing information from Google searches:

On March 1st, Google will implement its new, unified privacy policy, which will affect data Google has collected on you prior to March 1st as well as data it collects on you in the future. Until now, your Google Web History (your Google searches and sites visited) was cordoned off from Google’s other products. This protection was especially important because search data can reveal particularly sensitive information about you, including facts about your location, interests, age, sexual orientation, religion, health concerns, and more. If you want to keep Google from combining your Web History with the data they have gathered about you in their other products, such as YouTube or Google Plus, you may want to remove all items from your Web History and stop your Web History from being recorded in the future.

Here’s how you can do that:

1. Sign into your Google account.

2. Go to https://www.google.com/history

3. Click “remove all Web History.”

google history3 How to Clear Your Google Browsing and Video History Before the New Google Privacy Policy Is Implemented

4. Click “ok.”

google history4 How to Clear Your Google Browsing and Video History Before the New Google Privacy Policy Is Implemented

Note that removing your Web History also pauses it. Web History will remain off until you enable it again.

[UPDATE 2/22/2012]: Note that disabling Web History in your Google account will not prevent Google from gathering and storing this information and using it for internal purposes. It also does not change the fact that any information gathered and stored by Google could be sought by law enforcement.

With Web History enabled, Google will keep these records indefinitely; with it disabled, they will be partially anonymized after 18 months, and certain kinds of uses, including sending you customized search results, will be prevented. If you want to do more to reduce the records Google keeps, the advice in EFF’s Six Tips to Protect Your Search Privacy white paper remains relevant.

And for Youtube:

Google and Wikipedia are both CIA companies, originally funded by the CIA, erasing the truth from today's internet, trying to falsify history itself.

Google censors and manipulates search results to hide crimes of the US regime, and Google's CIA sister, Wikipedia, fills the internet with lies for the sheeple, on the 5% or 10% of topics important to CIA and Mossad.

Here's where I took my avatar from ... showing Google at work censoring the global internet:

Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia is a mafia former porn king involved in harming children, today honoured by his close friend the President of Israel, for the Wales - Wikipedia efforts to slander and kill Muslims, and to destroy the minority of Jews who remain non-Zionist.

The Wales - Wikipedia 'hive' team have known criminal backgrounds and involvements, like Wikipedia lawyer and molester of women Fred Bauder ... their willingness to spread lies to murder is why the US-CIA hired them as the Wikipedia 'team' ... Wikipedia is designed so the CIA and Mossad agents and corporate criminals can be 'anonymous' while planting bullsh*t there.

So they are very similar to you's of the world perpetually trying to revise history to advance some idiotic, inane largely paranoid delusional agenda?

 Close,

actually the entire internet is an evil zionista plot.

It is a good thing though sites like euroreportsiegheilmurderalljews.com is around to clear things up.

Interesting, this approach to manipulating the truth.  I'm reminded of embezzlement schemes that siphon small fractions of large numbers of transactions--think of the movie Office Space.

Here we have an information company that only "steals" a small percentage of search results (and the attached information) in order to funnel public opinion into illegitimate "accounts."  These accounts constitute a manufactured version of history itself that would effectively be compounded over time, the returns on which would be manufactured consent.

Time to stop feeding the beast, methinks.

Search with startpage.com instead. It returns search results from google through a proxy, which provides anonymity, and they don't track you.

If I understand correctly the German Parliament is discussing some "retaliation" against Google for those breaches - probably to be enacted through the EU channels. I wonder why I don't hear of any other political body taking this stuff seriously...

excellent thing, this startpage, thanks!

Yes, excellent.

This is a Netherlands-based company, Ixquick, which indeed does not track your search results, and protects the privacy of all web searchers.

It indeed has happened that what people has searched for on the internet via Google, is obtained by hostile parties and used against them ...

American judges gladly accept bribes to 'order' Google to turn over this information, and Google Inc. is always happy to help bribed American judges, because Google Inc. is trading favours with American judges that are of good use to help Google Inc destroy and rob other companies in US courtrooms, making the Google Inc. monopoly even bigger.

The Ixquick search engine is available in a number of languages. Click on 'Language' in the upper-right corner for more language choices, here is the main Ixquick page in standard (UK) English:

I know some of the Google people, I live just down the strret from them. They are very evil people. They are very well connected at the very highest level of our government. Just look at Google News. It's 100% main stream media brain washing propaganda. Their mantra is "DO PURE EVIL". But they're just one part of a purely evil system. It gets worse. Everything that goes through your keyboard is seen before you even hit the "enter" key, that is if you're using a comuter that is connected to the internet. It doesn't matter if you go through ATT or Verizon, all your 0's and 1's go through the governments computers and is recordered, filtered, censored, interupted, catagorized, analyzed, stored and diseminated. They know more about you than you know about yourself. The only way to not be 100% monitored on the internet is to not use the internet. Sorry but that's the way it is

"is to not use the internet."

I've been contemplating that very thing. I use only an antiquated PC to access the internet, it's at least a decade old with some 'upgrades' along the way. Have no 'smart phone' or other device and don't plan on buying any. I've told myself(and family/friends) that when this old PC bites the dust I'm done. Most of the ones I've told say I can't do it, that I'm too hooked on internet access. We'll see...

The only way to win is not to play...

Maybe. But probably not.

Examples: Polio, ZH, Transparency. Likely get a better method.

But I'm with you in spirit.
