Whoa, that is incredibly messed up. You'd think after the first case or even the second, rituals would have changed. If you take a look at the 419 scam sites, you will be amazed at how many iterations there are of the same old scam...just like finance as far as I'm concerned.
There is an entertaining book about Wall Street speculation written 100 years ago by a lawyer named Franklyn C Keyes. If you read that book you will see how nothing has changed.
An Amazon search didn't turn up anything right away ... not that I can't dig further ... but ... do you have the book title handy or something close/approximate?

I just want to remind everyone that I do read all of your comments and I sincerely appreciate the encouragement I receive as well as the broadened perspective.
The things I post are not just creations of WilliamBanzai7 but the fruits of collaboration between WilliamBanzai7 and his friends.
Amazing work, bittersweet with both humor and foreboding. Is it still a black swan if we see it coming, if we know its there, but choose to ignore it until it overwhelms us?
Foreboding for the deceivers. When we laugh we are telling them that they are not fooling everyone. It is very hard for them to spin away the truth when it is presented in this manner.

Just wanted to post and say thanks a lot for your ongoing contributions WB7. I had an interesting little conversation with someone lately about how youtube, forums and blogs, infotech itself, etc. are the contemporary equivalents of framed canvas for modern activists/artists/commentators/etc. and their roll in not only stylishly chronicling our times but shaping perception and understanding themselves in sharing their astute visions instantly with a global "community". I and a passenger were driving a motorcycle down a suburban avenue one Sunday morn and a dog ran between two cars right into my path. Both of us were thrown off the bike and ended up in a grass lawn, the bike on its side on the pavement, the dog on the other side of the street.
The noise attracted people and the all went to check out the dog who was fortunately unhurt.
Not one human being out of the little crowd that appeared gave any thought to me and my former passenger :)

It reminds me of the joke in France about the oil scam in Africa called Françafrique. The French Gaullist bureaucracy created a special relation between hand picked leaders after De Gaulle gave those ex-colonies independence, to nurture an elitist "you scratch my back I scratch your back, crony capitalistic special relationship", in Ivory Coast, Gabon and the two Congos, later on in Angola.
When the oil bonanza began, the special crony relationship from 1979 onwards, churned up huge amounts of money that ended up in the private accounts of both African and French potentates; the new Oligarchs of Oil patch, often carried by special 'couriers' in the diplomatic bags whose size and frequency had more in common with those stretch limos than the Citroen 2CV!
When the dirty linen got exposed in some memorable law suits; where every top french politician got his name dragged through the mud, their lawyers had the gall to say "those African potentates corrupted our leaders with their inordinate wealth and we had to comply for IMPERIOUS REASONS OF STATE!" (taking huge suitcases of liquid money as kick backs over thirty years to fund political campaigns in France, plus the electronic transfers to private accounts in Schweizer land WAS reason of state!).
Pot of Françafrique was calling kettle of their hand picked leaders BLACK (no racial pun intended, as it was all generated by black gold pipeline).
If you add up all the oil production over thirty odd years and apply a 50-80 $/bbl gross margin that got siphoned by these Oligarchs you would not be far from the huge amount that this scam pilfered from the sheeple of African black gold land.

And it ain't over! How this gets split between Oil companies, local political Oligarchs and the French/UK/US/ITal political class is one of the mysteries of this age; like all over the world, in all domains of economic activity. The list is never ending...MIC, Finance, commodities, Food, water, infrastructure, medics, etc. etc. etc. The Oligarchy has the world by the nuts.
