If We Learn Our History, We’re NOT Doomed to Repeat It
What Is False Flag Terror?
“False flag terrorism” is defined as a government attacking its own people, then blaming others in order to justify going to war against the people it blames. Or as Wikipedia defines it:
False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one’s own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy’s strategy of tension.
The term comes from the old days of wooden ships, when one ship would hang the flag of its enemy before attacking another ship in its own navy. Because the enemy’s flag, instead of the flag of the real country of the attacking ship, was hung, it was called a “false flag” attack.
Indeed, this concept is so well-accepted that rules of engagement for naval, air and land warfare all prohibit false flag attacks.
Leaders Throughout History Have Acknowledged False Flags
Leaders throughout history have acknowledged the danger of false flags:
“This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector.”
- Plato
“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
- U.S. President James Madison
“Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death”.
- Adolph Hitler
“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
- Hermann Goering, Nazi leader.
“The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened”.
- Josef Stalin
Governments from Around the World ADMIT that they Carry Out False Flag Terror
But don’t take our word for it.
Governments from around the world admit they carry out false flag terror:
- A major with the Nazi SS admitted at the Nuremberg trials that – under orders from the chief of the Gestapo – he and some other Nazi operatives faked attacks on their own people and resources which they blamed on the Poles, to justify the invasion of Poland. Nazi general Franz Halder also testified at the Nuremberg trials that Nazi leader Hermann Goering admitted to setting fire to the German parliament building, and then falsely blaming the communists for the arson
- The CIA admits that it hired Iranians in the 1950′s to pose as Communists and stage bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its democratically-elected prime minister
- Israel admits that an Israeli terrorist cell operating in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including U.S. diplomatic facilities, then left behind “evidence” implicating the Arabs as the culprits (one of the bombs detonated prematurely, allowing the Egyptians to identify the bombers, and several of the Israelis later confessed) (and see this and this)
- The former Italian Prime Minister, an Italian judge, and the former head of Italian counterintelligence admit that NATO, with the help of the Pentagon and CIA, carried out terror bombings in Italy and other European countries in the 1950s and blamed the communists, in order to rally people’s support for their governments in Europe in their fight against communism. As one participant in this formerly-secret program stated: “You had to attack civilians, people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple. They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security” (and see this)(Italy and other European countries subject to the terror campaign had joined NATO before the bombings occurred)
- As admitted by the U.S. government, recently declassified documents show that in the 1960′s, the American Joint Chiefs of Staff signed off on a plan to blow up AMERICAN airplanes (using an elaborate plan involving the switching of airplanes), and also to commit terrorist acts on American soil, and then to blame it on the Cubans in order to justify an invasion of Cuba. See the following ABC news report; the official documents; and watch this interview with the former Washington Investigative Producer for ABC’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.
- 2 years before, American Senator George Smathers had suggested that the U.S. make “a false attack made on Guantanamo Bay which would give us the excuse of actually fomenting a fight which would then give us the excuse to go in and [overthrow Castro]“.
- And Official State Department documents show that – only nine months before the Joint Chiefs of Staff plan was proposed – the head of the Joint Chiefs and other high-level officials discussed blowing up a consulate in the Dominican Republic in order to justify an invasion of that country. The 3 plans were not carried out, but they were all discussed as serious proposals
- The South African Truth and Reconciliation Council found that, in 1989, the Civil Cooperation Bureau (a covert branch of the South African Defense Force) approached an explosives expert and asked him “to participate in an operation aimed at discrediting the ANC [the African National Congress] by bombing the police vehicle of the investigating officer into the murder incident”, thus framing the ANC for the bombing
- An Algerian diplomat and several officers in the Algerian army admit that, in the 1990s, the Algerian army frequently massacred Algerian civilians and then blamed Islamic militants for the killings (and see this video; and Agence France-Presse, 9/27/2002, French Court Dismisses Algerian Defamation Suit Against Author)
- According to the Washington Post, Indonesian police admit that the Indonesian military killed American teachers in Papua in 2002 and blamed the murders on a Papuan separatist group in order to get that group listed as a terrorist organization.
- The well-respected former Indonesian president also admits that the government probably had a role in the Bali bombings
- As reported by BBC, the New York Times, and Associated Press, Macedonian officials admit that the government murdered 7 innocent immigrants in cold blood and pretended that they were Al Qaeda soldiers attempting to assassinate Macedonian police, in order to join the “war on terror”.
- Although the FBI now admits that the 2001 anthrax attacks were carried out by one or more U.S. government scientists, a senior FBI official says that the FBI was actually told to blame the Anthrax attacks on Al Qaeda by White House officials (remember what the anthrax letters looked like). Government officials also confirm that the white House tried to link the anthrax to Iraq as a justification for regime change in that country
- Former Department of Justice lawyer John Yoo suggested in 2005 that the US should go on the offensive against al-Qaeda, having “our intelligence agencies create a false terrorist organization. It could have its own websites, recruitment centers, training camps, and fundraising operations. It could launch fake terrorist operations and claim credit for real terrorist strikes, helping to sow confusion within al-Qaeda’s ranks, causing operatives to doubt others’ identities and to question the validity of communications.”
- United Press International reported in June 2005:
U.S. intelligence officers are reporting that some of the insurgents in Iraq are using recent-model Beretta 92 pistols, but the pistols seem to have had their serial numbers erased. The numbers do not appear to have been physically removed; the pistols seem to have come off a production line without any serial numbers. Analysts suggest the lack of serial numbers indicates that the weapons were intended for intelligence operations or terrorist cells with substantial government backing. Analysts speculate that these guns are probably from either Mossad or the CIA. Analysts speculate that agent provocateurs may be using the untraceable weapons even as U.S. authorities use insurgent attacks against civilians as evidence of the illegitimacy of the resistance.
- Quebec police admitted that, in 2007, thugs carrying rocks to a peaceful protest were actually undercover Quebec police officers
- At the G20 protests in London in 2009, a British member of parliament saw plain clothes police officers attempting to incite the crowd to violence
- A Colombian army colonel has admitted that his unit murdered 57 civilians, then dressed them in uniforms and claimed they were rebels killed in combat
- U.S. soldiers have admitted that if they kill innocent Iraqis and Afghanis, they then “drop” automatic weapons near their body so they can pretend they were militants
An Important CURRENT Threat
If we do not learn our history, we are doomed to repeat it. But if people learn about false flags, they will lose their effectiveness.
This is not “old news”.
False flags to start new wars are a current threat both in Syria and in Iran:
- Former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski (who helped to create Al Qaeda to fight the soviets in Afghanistan) told the Senate that a terrorist act might be carried out in the U.S. and falsely blamed on Iran to justify war against that nation.
- Daniel Ellsberg – the famous Pentagon Papers whistleblower – said “if there is another terror attack, “I believe the president will get what he wants”, which includes war with Iran
- Robert David Steele – a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer, the second-ranking civilian in U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence, and former CIA clandestine services case officer – says that elements within the U.S. government are trying to carry out a false flag operation and blame it on Iran
- Former high-level CIA officer Michael Scheuer – who was the head of the CIA unit tasked with capturing Bin Laden – says that Israel or Saudi Arabia could be setting up Iran as a way to foment war
- Ron Paul has warned of a “Gulf of Tonkin type incident” in Iran
- Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh says many ideas have been proposed for provoking a war, including building boats that look like Iranian boats, and then putting Navy Seals on them to “start a shoot-up”
- The highly influential Brookings Institution wrote a report in 2009 called “Which Path to Persia?” which states (pages 84-85):
It would be far more preferable if the United States could cite an Iranian provocation as justification for the airstrikes before launching them. Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be.Of course, it would be very difficult for the United States to goad Iran into such a provocation without the rest of the world recognizing this game, which would then undermine it. (One method that would have some possibility of success would be to ratchet up covert regime change efforts in the hope that Tehran would retaliate overtly, or even semi-overtly, which could then be portrayed as an unprovoked act of Iranian aggression.)
- A former member of the British Parliament stated that “there is a very real danger” that the American government will stage a false flag terror attack in order to justify war against Iran
- A number of very high-level former intelligence officers – including several that personally briefed presidents every day on matters of national security – stated that better communications between the U.S. and Iran were needed to “reduce the danger of … covert, false-flag attack”

Excellent blog posting, GW!
And now, for the current news:
The Romney Directive
The Romney/Ryan campaign ordered the Democratic Party to insert new language in their campaign plank: praising the lord and recognizing Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel.
The Democratic Party immediately capitulated!
No doubt those 750,000 American workers who lost their jobs over the past six months are now filled with hope for change?
The crucial question is, was that Romney’s first directive to the Obama administration?
We think not.
Late in the Bush administration, the banker whistleblower, Bradley Birkinfeld, flew from UBS, Switzerland, to Washington, D.C., armed with a list of American super-rich tax dodgers, and on that list appeared the name of Willard Mitt Romney.
After Obama was elected president, the Obama administration prosecuted Birkenfeld into jail, and although UBS was fined for those tax dodgers, they essentially buried that list.
Of course, among the names on that list of super-rich tax dodgers there probably appeared the names of the financial backers of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Mitt Romney, but we are certain that Romney’s name was featured.
Anybody still unsure as to the obvious orchestration of American presidential elections?
All you faux crats out there, you vile rightwingers who dare call yourselves “progressives” --- stand ready for the next Romney directive!
We true progressives shall cast our vote for the authentic democrat, Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party.
Affirmative on Jill Stein, negative on Obamney!
I'm with you Sgt; Jill Stein has my vote. Unless and until we the people give a 3rd and hopefully a 4th party some teeth, we'll accomplish nothing and our Democracy will continue spinning down the drain.
"History not repeating if we learn", and "Sleepin with the devil" :
The last two posts of GW. One example of dirty cloak and dagger history repeating comes to mind to highlight how the past history of US administrations is now serial repetition of criminal mayhem big time. Lessons NOT LEARNT.
In the 1970s under Dear Henry the US/CIA carrried out Operation Condor to destabilise unfriendly regimes in South America via terrorisit activities all over different military regime countries, notably Brazil and Paraguay in those days; which repeated the lessons "learnt" in Allende's demise and olympic stadium political big time cleansing; the Chile caper itself being a repeat of Operation Phoenix in Vietnam. To the eternal shame of the US administration.
Phoenix Program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Operation Condor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Four years later after Chile the US admin. decided to eliminate Bhutto in Pakistan, a left leaning feudal demagogue who was overfriendly with China; typical Allende type figure incompatible with DC hegemonial politics. They got Zia to organise a coup d'état and do a "Pinochet" on him. So CIA tactics were repeated and we know what ZIA did in the Afghan caper and Taliban dissemination. Zia became the Pakistani Pinochet and totalitarian history repeats. And when their puppet gets uppity, you do to ZIA what the CIA did to Ngo Dinh Diem in 1963; remember him?
Ngo Dinh Diem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On his ouster and assassination... :
Upon learning of Di?m's ouster and assassination, H? Chí Minh reportedly stated: “I can scarcely believe the Americans would be so stupid.”[60] The North Vietnamese Politburo was more explicit:...
History repeats in the hubristic traditions of the CIA to 'ad nauseum'.
What chance has the current or future US administrations of learning from the past, with a track record like this one???
falak pema, your thinking makes no sense:
"..What chance has the current or future US administrations of learning from the past.."
Greed is not synonomous with learning. Period.
Battling Wall Street: the Kennedy presidency, by Donald Gibson
Thy Will Be Done, by Gerard Colby with Charlotte Dennett
None of the Transnational Capitalist Class, nor any other plutocrats are interested in "learning lessons," dood!
They do what they do in their resource wars for profit --- the Rockefellers, Mellons and Guggenheims were in the Congo from at least the early 1960s --- all for the same reason, coltan, plus other precious metals.
In Afghanistan, the Chinese mine copper, and oil and gas pipelines flow across that country to multinational facilities in India and Pakisan.
You're reasoning don't compute, citizen!
Follow the money, or don't waste people's time, please.
You don't seem to understand the theme of this post by GW : learning from the past.
My point is to learn you have to have some good faith, to know what truth and justice still mean. This good faith is not present in 50 years of american power play abroad.
And I ask the question to which I don't see a good answer : why should anything change in present day America, red or blue?
Talking about money is NOT responding to the fundamental question of ETHICS, raised by this theme : knowing right from wrong. The living blood of all communities.
Its knowing right from wrong which is essential in society for people to learn. If you don't know what the truth, or justice, means, then it hopeless.
Economic arguments are secondary to the vital ethical questions. That's the lesson of history.
MORE APPROPRIATELY, THAT IS THE LESSON OF THIS CURRENT FINANCIALISTA AND ECONOMIC CRISIS; total rip-off of first world middle class engineered by the Oligarchs...so its the Nexus of our debate; past, present and future!
Money never saved a corrupt empire. Once the mind set went, the will to fight for freedom went, and the barbarian won; poor though he be relative to the decadent empire.
You have missed the whole point of what GW is asking us : don't think like the Rockafellas if you want to save country and civilization!
That Afghan or Chinese stash is useless to people without an army to follow them, however powerful they may appear to be. Those Oligarchs, without an army of wllling men, are TOAST!
Wake up!
Good list.
What about Fransis Gary Powers and Oswald. Who shot down the U2?
I guess I missed the little known secret.
George, I was reading yesterday and I couldn't help noticing that you do not accept that 911 was an inside job. But you wouldn't just come out and admit that; instead you waffled by all kinds of deflections such as saying how delighted you were that people did not think you are radical enough, etc. So, for the sake of clarity, could you please state affirmatively what you believe concerning whether 911 was an inside job. I don't care if you say yes or no, but I lost confidence in you due to your waffling. And please don't turn the question back on me or come up with other waffling strategems.
Ha, and I thought Waffle Bot was a character on Harold and Kumar's 3D Christmas. I didn't see GW's name in the credits, but now I will look again. Good question, EClaws.
I didn't see a clear answer, either, much to my disappointment.
The question is, why is he waffling? Maybe he knows something we don't? If he out and out rejects the inside hypothesis, he would readily admit it. On the other hand, if he believes the inside hypothesis, he will waffle out of fear of reprisals. Thus, we can conclude that GW does accept the inside hypothesis but cannot admit it out of fear of the government. That seems reasonable to me, given the present state of affairs--there's plenty of reason to fear the government nowadays and not exercise your putative right of free speech. However, history shows that once this process of not speaking out due to fear gets started, it is not long before families, neighbors, and associates start ratting on each other. Since learning from history is ostensibly what this topic is about, is George completely unaware of the disconnect here?
"Pancakes are gay!" :)
Good points.
I am sure a guy as clever as GW will not take your bait. You, on the other hand, appear to have your own agenda. Who, other than those involved, can factually state who or what was behind the 911 incident. Only fools speak with authority on topics they are not certain of. Clearly, it is well within the realm of possiblity that the 911 attack was perpetrated by our own government or someone acting as their agent. Possibility does not equate to probability. Shit, we still don't know for sure who or what was behind JFK's assasination. The world is absolutely full to the gills with fools. The big question here is.......are you one of them.
Hogwash, toolshed. Hogwash.
The proof is in the multi-layered and obvious coverup in both cases.
If you can't tell by now that JFK was our folks, well, you're calling the wrong person names.
Really, the same is true for 911.
For the controlled demolitions, folks needed access to the buildings (Securacom). For the planes being switched, for the remote control mechanisms, for the media coverup, the NIST coverup, the Commission coverup (see Max Cleland--likely the first Diebold loser), the "drills" scheduled for that day, and on and on and on, the only culprits are in our establishments (gov, mil, etc).
Hogwash, man.
Yes, well you have clearly demonstrated that you are what is known as a "conspiracy nut job". Just because the available evidence does not fit the official narrative does not NECESSARILY mean there is a conspiracy. And more importantly just because YOU claim to know the truth for sure does not mean a frickin thing. I absolutely agree that in both instances (JFK and 911) there are numerous reasons to doubt the official stories and be very suspicious of misdeeds and coverups by our government. In fact I suspect you are correct in your belief that there were conspiracies involved. However, I do not know this for a FACT and neither do you! You remind me of IT dorks that make shit up when they don't actually know the answer to a technical question. Very sad.
Hey Mr Tool, does having a belief about something mean that it must be factually true, or does it mean that, given the evidence, you lean toward a certain interpretation?
Does having a different point of view mean you are automatically a conspiracy nut job, as you accuse clashfan?
Seems to me you're the stupid one in this discussion, with all due respect, of course.
Seems you are unaware of the difference between facts and ASSumptions. How sad for you.
One can easily grasp, from the troll Toolshed's rambling, missing in facts, drivel, that it's never read the Warren Commission Report, nor the 9/11 Commission Report.
Nothing further need be said.
Sarge, your knowledgeable comments filled with facts have recently catapulted you into the position of my favorite ZH commenter. Sorry: The medals I hand out are not satanic symbols like the CMH.
Did I see, though, that you are a self-defined "progressive" who supports the Green Party? I do anticipate some future disagreements, then, and you can bet I'm scared of that.
I almost voted for McKinney last time around, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. She just looks too crazy, and I just couldn't defend that incident at the capitol, regardless of how much she was harassed.
I did vote Fulani in 92, then Nader twice.
Then I quit voting. What's the point?
I do appreciate your response here. That troll is particularly irritating. I shall learn to avoid it in the future.
Toolshed,
One of my nosier neighbors asked me what I was doing a few weeks after they washed me out of flight school because I just could not get the hang of that Cessna 172.
I told them I was now flying the Boeing 767 better than some of the pilots that had 20 years flying Air Force Fast Jets and were fellow air line pilots.
They didn't believe me. Do you believe me?
Optimator, your level of stupidity deserves no response.
I haven't made shit up, Tool.
At some point, the list of suspects gets pretty narrow. Feel free to explain to me how it's even possible that anyone else could have done JFK or 911 w/out government collusion, especially considering the coverups.
crickets....
Believe whatever you want, but don't expect me to agree or care. Why do you have crickets in your pocket?
Tell that to Socrates ...
In France they call them gauffres.
Plus another one GW.
George Washington
fuck Socrates, Let Xanthippe bend your ear.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanthippe
It is only in Xenophon's Symposium where we have Socrates agree that she is (in Antisthenes' words) "the hardest to get along with of all the women there are."[7] Nevertheless, Socrates adds that he chose her precisely because of her argumentative spirit:
The vast majority of Amurikans are too fucking lazy and stupid to learn history. Get ready to repeat it.
The American people have been literally drugged by propaganda. Big lies have been exposed, but have been simply wiped out by bigger lies.
Almost. All people are lazy and will work any system of government/community/family as far as they can. We are doomed to repeat because people are still people and nothing has changed in 10,000+ years.
insanelysane
We are doomed to repeat shit because we are little biochemical machines.
You need to do some serious generational gene fucking to keep humanity from bumping into the walls.
Superb list, GW.
Curious side note - about how far the intelligence agency connections run - re the 1964 'Gulf of Tonkin' fraud, a fake claim of an attack by North Vietnamese ships on US ships, the 'false flag' that started the US Vietnam war escalation -
That 'Gulf of Tonkin' incident was operated by US Navy Admiral George Morrison, and here is a photo of him on the deck of a US naval ship with his son ... Jim Morrison of the legendary 60s band 'The Doors'.
It turns out that with Jim Morrison and the Doors, Frank Zappa, The Mamas and the Papas and many others ... all these 60s bands, who somehow 'mysteriously' came together in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, California, are made up of children of US military people and intelligence agents.
Many of them, like Jim Morrison, had no musical experience, and their recordings were often performed by studio musicians. They are also linked to the Manson Family murderers and much else.
Apparently much of that whole 60s music scene, were gathered for the CIA's programme of overnight inventing the 'hippie' movement to make sure the anti-war movement was sidetracked into drugs and hedonism and eccentric behaviour.
Re Laurel Canyon and how all those 'great 60s music groups' in America were military and intelligence agency children, the best expert is David McGowan -
Here is the photo of young Jim Morrison of 'The Doors' with his dad, Gulf of Tonkin warmonger and murderer of Vietnamese, Admiral George Morrison, on the deck of the USS Bon Homme Richard:

Bank Guy:
You are out of your mind, batshit crazy if you think David Crosby is some kind of spook who was ever, in any way a threat to anyone except whomever may have been riding in the passenger seat of his car. The name of his first solo album: "If I Could Only Remember My Name..." did not employ much in the way of hyperbole.
Before we developed an isolated and helot class to fight our wars lots of people had fathers in the military. BFD.
Frank Zappa, a very bright and drug-free guy by the way, was as about as libertarian as you can get. And yes, he really can throw down on guitar and is a serious composer. So, he was a threat to me how?
You guys are like the Dale character on 'King Of The Hill' who sees conspiracies everywhere but can't figure out that his wife is banging the Indian that's always hanging around the house.
You are out of your mind, batshit crazy if you think David Crosby is some kind of spook who was ever, in any way a threat to anyone except whomever may have been riding in the passenger seat of his car
You should really read the whole piece. Both Of David Crosbys' parents are from the Van Cortlandt/Van Shuyler/ Van Rensselaer family, who have been inbreeding for almost 300 years, while managing to be one of the most influential political families on the east coast, go ahead and google those names. David is a full fledged member of the ruling elite of this world, why do you think his sperm was in such demand, because he was an amazing musician?(Bro Tip- he was not)
Great post, Canaduh. TY. This one's for you, perhaps relevant to other elements of this thread, too. Rock on!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaOmTHaRA1g
They've got you down, they want to keep you there.
Look out for rules and regulations!
They're all fat and old.
Mercury, have you bothered to read McGowan's piece?
Didn't think so.
Instead of personally attacking a person in the thread who is explaining the piece, why not examine the piece and attack it logically? That would be more beneficial to all of us.
“So what, if anything, have we learned today? We have learned that murder and random acts of violence have been a part of the culture of the canyon since the earliest days of its development. We have also learned that spooks posing as entertainers have likewise been a part of the canyon scene since the earliest days. And, finally, we have learned that spooks who didn’t even bother to pose as entertainers were streaming into the canyon to report to work at Lookout Mountain Laboratory for at least twenty years before the first rock star set foot there.”
Big deal. California is full of weirdoes and sometime they cross paths with government employees who are often up to no good. Where do I buy the tinfoil hat?
In the early 60’s Frank Zappa, while trying to make ends meet, produced an “obscene” soundtrack for a “blue” film for undercover agents posing as frat boys. He got thrown in the clink for a few, very unpleasant weeks amidst a lot of hard-core criminals and thugs. The experience made him very, very bitter about government power and arguably he spent the rest of his career trying to cram those tapes down the American public’s throat. He also died from cancer that he blamed on exposure to toxic chemicals as a kid living on an army base back east. He testified in Congress against Tipper Gore’s stupid, anti-naughty lyrics campaign. Sorry, but he’s not your man.
But wait! Here’s a whole album called (what a giveaway!) Blues From Laurel Canyon that has British rock stars all over it!...including future ace Stones guitarist Mick Taylor! There’s a whole PhD thesis here! Go get-em!
If you’ve ever spent any time at all with musicians you’d know they aren’t the government’s best bet for….pretty much any job at all.
I should add, Mercury, that I personally knew someone who was the daughter of the former head of the DNC. She personally told me that during the Clinton years she spent time at Zappa's wife's house fund raising and such (after he had passed) and that they were big donors and supporters for the Ds (definitely not the actions of a "Libertarian" family).
That I know for a fact. She was very excited to have been there.
Actually, I've spent a lot of time with musicians. Koresh was a decent musician, too, btw.
Inside the LC is a good read. If you cherry-pick one or two points and leave them on their own, they are easily made to seem silly. The whole thing, however, builds an extremely (extremely) powerful case for the whole hippie scene to be counter-intel.
I'm not trying to "fight" you on this one, just to make a point: Counter-intel folks often do not vocally support government programs. Usually, in fact, they create public personas opposite their actual intentions. Often, too, they can be mpd, post-traumatic, mind-controlled by programming. I know a lot about Zappa, man.
The truth about things like this is often disturbing. McGowan makes the point many times that Zappa was not a druggie, btw. And that thing between Zappa and Tipper looks to me like an obviously fomented event. Think about it. Like you say, her campaign was pretty stupid.
Not only have I done a lot of time w/musicians (ugh), but I've done enough protesting to know that the protest leaders are often the rats. That one I know from personal experience and from a good, recent documentary (MM) about those kids who got arrested for planning to incite violence, egged on by their mentor who was... the rat.
Inside the LC is a good read. If you cherry-pick one or two points and leave them on their own, they are easily made to seem silly. The whole thing, however, builds an extremely (extremely) powerful case for the whole hippie scene to be counter-intel.
Well, he cleverly failed to mention any of the key points for his powerful case in his intro, body or conclusion which I suppose is just a brilliant strategy to fool squares like me.
The draft-dodging, war-protesting hippies we're secretly on the same side as Jim Morrison's war monger father? Did the hippies also purposely contract poor hygiene-related diseases not seen since the Middle Ages for extra authenticity too?
How did they get communist Vietnamese leaders, years later, to credit the US domestic protest movement as a key factor in their ultimate victory? Or was losing S. Vietnam really a secret ploy to...what?
I guess this must be counter-counter-intel...or so counter- you can't even count it, man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrJlyapt6OY
The best way to read it is to start at the beginning and continue in order. It's terrific--flat out great
But you could start w/one of the newer chapters that I'm looking at now (I haven't checked it in a few years--he keeps adding more chapters). This stuff is fascinating:
http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr110.html
Ha, first saw ST at college in 84 at the UGA theater w/other freshman and have watched it many times since. The only bad thing I can say about ST is that it spawned many other mockumentaries that are just dumb.
And for the record, I'm not calling you a square. This info is tough to digest, especially for classic rock fans like us. Hey, Joe Strummer's dad was in the British foreign service (much like our State Dept), and he was Jewish--I think several of The Clash were.
They even use the pentagram inside the circle.
But they spoke out loud and hard against TPTB.
To answer your question, McGowan's spin on the hippie movement is that the anti-war movement was clean-cut college kids until that point, and the drugs and weirdos made it look far less appealing to the mainstream.
And I will admit that McGowan makes some leaps within the lengthy book that I cannot condone. Still, the bulk of it reads like good, solid work, well-documented, logical.
Plus I think you're getting a bit into a straw man when you imply that ALL of the "draft-dodging hippies" were "on the same side" as JM's dad. I don't think that's what McGowan is claiming at all. And it's certainly not what I meant when I clumsily typed "the whole hippie scene" per se--I meant the originators of it, the purpose for creating it.
For just one example, we know that the Grateful Dead and company were basically allowed to do the original acid tests by the government. We know that surviving members have recently played at the Bohemian Grove, for example.
I think it's reasonable to suspect that ANYONE who gets to spend a lot of time in the recording studios, in front of the TV cameras, or who is propelled into the spotlight should be suspected of Luciferianism or intel (suspected loosely, that is, until further examination). Media is a powerful tool, and so is art in all of its forms. The idea that the government would not think of this or not use it in psyops is kind of naive, really.
If one researches, one finds that many, many folks in all forms of media have had intel connections. It's difficult to know about current people, but we know about folks in the fifties and sixties--major stars--who were basically spies. I don't want to drag out the discourse by listing them all here, but elite involvement in media/art is nothing new at all--here or abroad. In my field (poetry), for example, one can look at the recent editor of The Paris Review, which has long been considered a major publication. Check it out--CIA front.
And I will admit, too, that many of the TV and other stars we know about from the fifties could have been (could have been) merely holdovers from WWII who were "doing their duty" for their country. So many people, in fact, were involved in WWII that one has to consider this fact when reading McGowan's piece and seeing the evidence relating to all of these stars' parents.
I'm also not sure how much you know about Luciferianism or the elite's subculture of it, but I assure you that it's very real. This is another facet of McGowan's piece that you should recognize. And sometimes these infiltrations have little or no purpose other than having "sleeper" agents at the helm, at major positions in an industry. Folks like to believe that the satanism in rock and roll is just "tongue in cheek" stuff, overhyped, for sales. Hey, some of it may be. But it is hyperbolically heavy in the industry, tough to miss.
Further, I'm not sure that the goal in VN was actually to win. Are you? Don't you think Air America and the heroin involved were a primary objective? Don't you think MIC profits were a major consideration? The power over the populace that the war provided? The bankrupting of America really starts there, too. At the time of the JFK hit, we had very little debt, and he was printing sovereign money. The generals who coalesced against JFK were determined to have their war. Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics, Brown and Root as well were chomping at the bit to escalate. Do you really think it was all about stopping the spread of communism? The "domino theory" looks pretty stupid in hindsight. We LOST. How many SE Asian countries are communist today?
Honestly, I think that an examination of McGowan's piece will not be a waste of your time, and it's certainly an entertaining read, imo. Following the military and satanic elements through that industry is a worthwhile endeavor that will reveal much knowledge to you.
He's careful to trace the "hippie" movement back to some of the original folks. Please, read on a bit more, and then comment. If the intro and conclusion don't work well for you, I can accept that. Fine. He seems to have written the book as installments, over time, as he researched. That may be a flaw. But there is a treasure trove of good info in there, with a lot of names you might not know. IMO it's worth your time to spend at least an hour or two reading a few chapters and cross-checking some of his info.
The Dead/Leary were "allowed" to have the Acid Tests because LSD was still legal at the time.
Joe Strummer had one German/Jewish great-grandmother....which indicates or proves what?
Yes I am aware that private enterprise has sought to profit from war since the beginning of time.
It's not just the hippies now but an underlying conspiracy of US military Satan worshipers?
Have you or this nut made or identified one substantive point this entire time?
The most likely conspiracy here is that you're sitting in a cube in Bethesda and being paid with my tax dollars to write this drivel.
I thought he was more Jewish than that? Several involved w/The Clash have acknowledged Jewish roots. LSD was legal, but who made it, how did they get it, etc? Look into this more carefully, man.
You're namecalling again. Are you interested at all in the truth or just a troll?
I can't make you look at Inside the LC more carefully, but you're really missing a great piece.
If you don't understand the Luciferianism of the elite, Hollywood, and the music industry, there's a lot you don't know.
No, I'm not being paid to write this. I wish I were. Funny, I don't call you any names yet, do I? I sure don't call you a .gov agent. I guess we'll have to be suspicious of each other now, and that's sad. I'll try to avoid you in the future, for both our sakes.
I do wish you blessings, though. Jesus Christ is my lord and savior.
Peace.
Who cares if they're all 100% Jewish? You obviously think highly of them. What the fuck?
The Dead made the LSD themselves (Owsley Stanley their sound man more specifically). It's not particularly difficult and OS was hardly a Nobel level chemist. So, you look into that more carefully, man.
For someone who is interested in the truth you seem to be awfully short on actual hard information (which I've offered up where I can - you're welcome) and full of fluff and conjecture. But go ahead and show this back-and-forth to a third party and see if they draw a different conclusion.
By the way, Jesus wouldn't post a specious comment and then vote for Himself :)
The Jewishness of The Clash is just something I expect to get hit w/on ZH, so I try to mention that I am aware of it (and Strummer's dad's intel connections) whenever topics like Inside the LC come up. Call it a pre-emptive strike? Whatever.
Of course The Grateful Dead's original name was The Warlocks. The occult roots of the "hippie" movement are more than obvious. I don't know how much I need to write about that one for you.
If you would read McGowan's piece, you would learn much.
But from other sources, you can tell that Bear was initially getting it from Sandoz before he started making his own. The story that he just started making it from a chem book he found at Berkeley misses a lot of the details.
Curious that some of the CIA's experiments on unwitting subjects dosed w/LSD occured in Lexington, KY (where Bear's grandpa had been governor).

Take a look at the strong connections to British intel and occultism:
http://www.illuminati-news.com/art-and-mc/aquarian-conspiracy.htm
Leary was clearly working w/the CIA, which I'm pretty sure he's admitted.
Everything about GD was steeped in occultism (or "alchemy," fine): http://blotterati.com/writing-archive/deadisticism-the-magic-and-mystici...
More on the Hubbard/Huxley/Leary connection:
http://www.fargonebooks.com/high.html
The above, of course, gives more of the "official" story, yet one can easily see how the official story lends itself to the probable assumption that the "Summer of Love" et al were intel projects.
The CIA was behind the Menlo Park stuff where Kesey was dosed, and we know that from FOIA: http://alexincyde.blogspot.com/2010/12/quotes-from-electric-kool-aid-aci...
I'll see what else I can quickly find, but I don't know how much more of this you want.
http://espionagecentral.50megs.com/whats_new_5.html
Good, lenghty PDF here tracing it all back to Dachau. You might remember where The Doors got their name, too: http://herbogeminis.com/IMG/pdf/acid_dreams.pdf
From the immediately above one will find:
A confidential memorandum issued by the CIA's Office of
Security, which had utilized LSD for interrogation purposes
since the early 1950s, suggested that certain CIA-connected
personnel might be involved with Leary's group. This prospect
was disconcerting to Security officials, who considered
hallucinogenic drugs "extremely dangerous."
And further: It is known that during this period Leary gave LSD to Mary Pinchot, a painter and a prominent Washington socialite who was married to Cord Meyer, a highlevel CIA official. (Meyer oversaw the CIA's infiltration of the US National Student Association and the Congress for Cultural Freedom in Europe, which provided financial support to numerous Cold War liberal intellectuals and writers.) Leary and Pinchot struck up a cordial friendship during her occasional visits to Cambridge in the early 1960s. She asked him to teach her how to guide an LSD session so she could introduce the drug to her circles in Washington. 'I have this friend who's a very important man," she confided to Leary. "He's very impressed with what I've told him about my own LSD experience and what other people have told him. He wants to try it himself." Leary was intrigued, but Pinchot wouldn't tell him who she intended to turn on. Nor did she inform her LSD mentor of her marriage to a CIA bigwig. Leary explained the basic rules about set and setting, emphasizing the importance of a comfortable, sensuous environment for an LSD trip. From time to time Pinchot reported back to him. "I can't give you all the details," she said, "but top people in Washington are turning on. You'd be amazed at the sophistication of some of our leaders. We're getting a little group together ..." Leary had no way of knowing that Mary Pinchot was one of President Kennedy's girlfriends...
Whether Leary knew this or not, I don't know; but the CIA certainly knew JFK was on the drug. Meyer was of course reporting back, and said "He's changing too quickly," and here of course is a big secret that is getting out about the assassination, about how and why JFK changed and rebelled (along w/Bobby) agains the establishment. Of course, the stroke his father suffered (undoubtedly one of his handlers) played a major role in this, too. Again, SRA/MKULTRA are important to understand. The elite don't let independent, free minds ascend to the highest office. But let's not get off topic.
As I've said from the beginning, in defense of McGowan's piece (which you still haven't really examined), the leaders of the hippie movement were steeped in occultism (satanism, luciferianism, alchemy, whatever you want to call it--luciferianism is the most accurate term) and in military intelligence. McGowan's piece is freaking great. I can't wait until he adds another chapter. But a lot of the pieces to this are available all over the net, backed by solid research. The link from which I've quoted twice above will show you that much.
More on Leary's CIA connections and JFK's murder can be found here:
http://www.american-buddha.com/music.covertwarrock3.htm
From the piece:
One day after the assassination of John Kennedy, she phoned him, Leary recalled, and she was overcome with fear and grief. "They couldn't control [Kennedy] anymore," she told Leary. "He was learning too much ... They'll cover everything up." [24]
Leary was a magnet for espionage agents. He was constantly surrounded by operatives of the intelligence agencies. In the end, he paired up with G. Gordon Liddy in a traveling radio road show. Liddy was a CHAOS veteran. [25]
On September 12, 1970, Tim Leary escaped from prison, aided, according to Benjamin Woolly, "by the Weather Underground ... apparently funded by [CIA runamuck] Ronald Stark and the Brotherhood of Eternal Love." Leary's famed flight to Switzerland was facilitated by CIA contractees. "May 1971," writes Riebling, "Leary and his wife escape to Switzerland with the assistance, according to Leary, of an 'Algerian bureaucrat named Ali,' who 'made no bones about his connection to the CIA ... and [Leary says] 'that's the best mafia you can deal with in the twentieth century."'
The prison escape was financed by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, and the LSD distributed by the Brotherhood was provided by convicted CIA terrorist Ron Stark.
And you take these logical steps, then you get to this:
http://therearenosunglasses.wordpress.com/2010/01/23/was-timothy-leary-a... , which asks the q "Was TL a CIA Agent?"
And it, of course, will link back to the McGowan piece that you trash.
But whatever, dude. Blessings.
I'm done w/this. But you can do your own research and form your own conclusions. The "official" spin is that COINTELPRO was used to monitor these folks b/c they were dangerous to the establishment--the rock stars that is, Leary, etc.
If you don't have the understanding of the occultist/luciferian subculture of the elite, you'll miss a lot of the connections when you first look into this stuff.
McGowan's piece is great, man. But he's not the only one saying this stuff. Sure, others give the history w/out adding the pieces together properly, but the history is there. And plenty of others will agree w/McGowan--not as many as I'd like, but they're out there, as the immediately above demonstrates.
Well, one more, conclusions from the immediately above (last) link:
He seems tired and distracted, so I try the standard espionage trick: Knock him with some facts to get his attention. “You know, my stepmother used to work for Cord Meyer.” Which is true; she was for some years a secretary at CIA. Leary’s reaction is physical: He jerks, as if jolted by some alternating current for which he has no adapter. His eyes are bright with memory. “Cord Meyer was a pretty intense guy,” he says, smiling. I ask a couple other questions, tacking around. Then I put it to Leary like this. “You say in your book that a lot of the LSD experiments at Harvard and Berkeley were, like, paid for by CIA. So I was wondering — I mean, what were your connections with the Agency?” Suddenly he seems tight and defensive, finds the adapter and plugs it in. “They never gave me a dime,” he says. I look into his eyes, the way you do when you try to tell if someone is lying. I don’t see deception, exactly; only pain. He doesn’t say anything to me after this, so I awkwardly say goodbye and leave. Driving home, in the dark, I feel some journalistic guilt for having bothered this good-hearted sage, whose views on life are mostly right. Maybe he has actually told me the truth. The pain in his eyes was probably injured innocence, the kind I’d feel if I’d done a great life’s work and some punk kid asked me, at the end of it, if I’d been funded all along by the KGB. On the other hand, if he did collaborate with CIA, he’d hardly be at liberty to say so, would he? Might he not also feel just a bit guilty; thus the pain? And if the Agency never gave him any money, how did they get the rights to use the personality test that bears his name? I come to a red light. Flashing in my mind is a subliminal message from Leary’s “brainwashing” session: “Think for yourself — question authority.” And then I remember his warning to us, before the question & answer period: “You’re not supposed to believe anything I say.”
? I didn't vote for myself.
You're the one who is attacking and really not examining the piece. And I didn't even post the piece initially.
Tons of links on Stanley's (alleged) intel connections. Here's one.
http://pennyforyourthoughts2.blogspot.com/2011/04/bear-augustus-owsley-s...
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/aquarian.htm
From the immediately above: "Who provided the drugs that swamped the anti-war movement and the college campuses of the United States in the late 1960s? The organized crime infrastructure which had set up the Peking Connection for the opium trade in 1928—provided the same services in the 1960s and 1970s it had provided during Prohibition. This was also the same network Huxley had established contact with in Hollywood during the 1930s. The LSD connection begins with one William "Billy" Mellon Hitchcock. Hitchcock was a graduate of the University of Vienna and a scion of the millionaire Mellon banking family of Pittsburgh. (Andrew Mellon of the same family had been the U.S. Treasury Secretary throughout Prohibition.) In 1963, when Timothy Leary was thrown out of Harvard, Hitchcock rented a fifty-five-room mansion in Millbrook, New York, where the entire Leary-Huxley circle of initiates was housed until its later move back to California.26
Hitchcock was also a broker for the Lansky syndicate and for the Fiduciary Trust Co., Nassau, Grand Bahamas—a wholly owned subsidiary of Investors Overseas Services. He was formally employed by Delafield and Delafield Investments, where he worked on buying and selling vast quantities of stock in the Mary Carter Paint Co., soon to become Resorts International.
In 1967, Dr. Richard Alpert put Hitchcock in contact with Augustus Owsley Stanley III. As Owsley's agent, Hitchcock retained the law firm of Babinowitz, Boudin and Standard 27—to conduct a feasibility study of several Caribbean countries to determine the best location for the production and distribution of LSD and hashish.
During this period, Hitchcock joined Leary and his circle in California. Leary had established an LSD cult called the Brotherhood of Eternal Love and several front companies, including Mystics Art World, Inc. of Laguna Beach, California. These California-based entities ran lucrative trafficking in Mexican marijuana and LSD brought in from Switzerland and Britain. The British connection had been established directly by Hitchcock, who contracted the Charles Bruce chemical firm to import large quantities of the chemical components of LSD with financing from both Hitchcock and George Grant Hoag, the heir to the J.C. Penney dry goods fortune, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love set up LSD and hashish production-marketing operations in Costa Rica in 1968."
You can find plenty more if you try. I will see what I can dig up. Reading Inside the LC is what I'd recommend, though. The whole thing was an intel project. Stanley and Leary were well connected, man. Stanley's grandfather was a governor of Kentucky.
Very nicely put, Clashfan.
Side note re: Luciferianism and Hollywood: When I first compiled my lists of Knights of Malta and Knights of Columbus, and then came across a list of prominent or 'famous' Roman Catholics, I thought: "Wow ... everyone says the Jooz run Hollywood ... but it looks to me more like you have to be a Catholic to get ahead in Hollywood!!".
Of course, one cannot easily tell who is just a simple Catholic believer versus who has been within the clutches of the Jesuits (ie. Luciferians and crypto-Jews), but the correlation is very strong.
One other thing: The Luciferians value intelligence and artistic creativity above all else (and consider themselves to be "the smartest guys in the room"), so it's no surprise [to me] that the idols of stage, screen and song have either been groomed or recruited by them.
TY I-dog. Nice to hear from you again.
