Why exactly aren't we having a discussion about revising/abolishing the current "progressive" tax code which is part of the deficit/debt issue for government and the wealth/income concerns across society?
Why do you want to discuss a tax code? What difference does the tax code make when the current numbers are all fudged and pickled? It is PONZI .. P.O.N.Z.I. !!!
There are no CHECKS and BALANCES and least of all a REALISTIC budget and balance sheet.
The 1% HAVE because their SYNTHETIC WEALTH is our COLLECTIVE DEBT.
Synthetic because the wealth has not been earned in the traditional sense. It wasn't THEFT until the BAILOUTS came either. But instead of taking the HIT and making REAL and necessary adjustments in 2008, they opted to PRETEND it was real and offloaded their toxic debt (=toxic wealth) to the taxpayer. And now it IS theft!
In other words. A few men's wealth is 300+ million people's debt.
It is NOT our collective debt. It is the governments debt...more properly stated, its been stuck with the Fed. The government "borrows" forty cents of every dollar it spends so even if I accepted the premise it is mine (or ours, collectively) I/we are only legally obligated for 60% of the debt...but I reject that as well.
Tax & spending bills have been passed by the House. The Senate (Reid) refuses to even hold a vote on them.
The real consequence of the current tax code is its control over the people and their activities (that is, social engineering)...I would think if you are a citizen you (or anyone earning a wage here) would want to have that discussion.

Yes, it is arcane...baseline budgeting. It defies economic logic that the departments of government would grow yearly no matter what the tax reciepts are coming in to it.

It is. They've built the entire system around it. Flat or Fair tax can be phased in giving everyone a chance to prepare. But it is not fair that some wage earners pay a higher percentage than "the rich" (whatever that winds up meaning) than someone getting taxed at a flat 15%. Just as it is not fair that someone gets someone elses taxes back as a "credit" PLUS what they paid in...pandering pols, screwing with peoples lives, social engineering.
I'm actually more pissed at what they do to the poor...its a plantation mentality run by elites...but thats a whole different deal.
