2 U.S. Supreme Court Justices – And Numerous Other Top Government Officials – Warn of Dictatorship

George Washington's picture

Former Supreme Court Justice David Souter told University of New Hampshire School of Law that the “pervasive civic ignorance” in the U.S. could bring dictatorship:

I don’t worry about our losing a republican government in the United States because I’m afraid of a foreign invasion. I don’t worry about it because of a coup by the military, as has happened in some other places. What I worry about is that when problems are not addressed people will not know who is responsible, and when the problems get bad enough — as they might do for example with another serious terrorist attack, as they might do with another financial meltdown — some one person will come forward and say:  ‘Give me total power and I will solve this problem.’

That is how the Roman republic fel.  Augustus became emperor not because he arrested the Roman senate. He became emperor because he promised that he would solve problems that were not being solved.

Former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor has also warned of dictatorship.

Of course, they’re not the only ones warning of fascism.  We noted in April:

Senator Frank Church – who chaired the famous “Church Committee” into the unlawful FBI Cointel program, and who chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee – said in 1975:

“Th[e National Security Agency's]  capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left, such is the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter. There would be no place to hide.  [If a dictator ever took over, the N.S.A.] could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back.

Now, the NSA is building a $2 billion dollar facility in Utah which will use the world’s most powerful supercomputer to monitor virtually all phone calls, emails, internet usage, purchases and rentals, break all encryption, and then store everyone’s data permanently.

The former head of the program for the NSA recently held his thumb and forefinger close together, and said:

We are, like, that far from a turnkey totalitarian state

(Indeed, we are getting very close, as shown here, here and here).

As we noted in 2008:

Democratic and Republican congress members are sounding the alarm: tyranny is here.

For example:

  • Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) says:

“I have been thrown out of more meetings in this capital in the last 24 hours than I ever thought possible, as a duly elected representative of 825,000 citizens of north Texas.”

Burgess asks the Speaker of the House to post the bailout bill on the internet for at least 24 hours instead of passing the largest piece of legislation in US financial history in the “dark of night.”

Rep. Burgess’ says, “Mr. Speaker I understand we are under martial law as declared by the speaker last night.” (Note: For an explanation of what he meant by martial law, see this)

  • Congresswoman Kaptur (D-OH) says:

“My message to the American people don’t let Congress seal this deal. High financial crimes have been committed.

The normal legislative process has been shelved. Only a few insiders are doing the dealing, sounds like insider trading to me. These criminals have so much political power than can shut down the normal legislative process of the highest law making body of this land.”

We are Constitutionally sworn to protect and defend this Republic against all enemies foreign and domestic. And my friends there are enemies.”

The people pushing this deal are the very ones who are responsible for the implosion on Wall Street. They were fraudulent then and they are fraudulent now.”

Of course, there are many other indications that tyranny has already come to Amerca, including the permanent stationing of U.S. troops inside the country to quell “civil unrest” and the probable suspension of normal constitutional government for a state of emergency “continuity of government” operation.

This is not entirely new. In 2006, the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities wrote:

“House leadership invokes ‘martial law,’ forcing members to vote on key bills without full knowledge of what they are voting on: move represents erosion of the democratic process”

Indeed, many people, including high-level politicians, have been warning of tyranny in the U.S. for some time. As three of many examples:

Indeed, there is overwhelming evidence that the U.S. is quickly drifting into tyranny.  See this, this, this, this, this, this, thisthis and this.

Souter? Isn't this the same guy who voted on the case that decided local government could declare Eminent Domain, force you to sell your property to them at their price, so they could then sell it to another private interest for more money, as long as the other interest promised they would raise the tax base? That "Justice" Souter? O'Connor was no better. All of these people have brought us to where are, and now they want to appear to be innocent? TO HELL WITH ALL OF THEM.

Exactly and good catch, ObsDude --- just like Ron Paul and Barr have put forth countless pieces of anti-worker legislation, yet people mention those two douchetards like they're the holy grail or some crapola.

The three are the enemy --- just as are those who claim there's plenty of difference between all the neocons who have resided in the White House, whether their names are followed by an "R" or a "D".

Oh and btw they've pretty much been doing whatever the hell the want for a very long time anyhow. So let me guess, are these people a bunch of Obama bashing, Romney cock-sucking fools? So then it would be ok to have a dictatorship, as long as Romney is making the rules and bombing Iran. LOL, Fuck all of these people with a big rubber dick.

No. But it would be OK to have political representatives and judges that didn't ignore the US constitution and bill of rights at every opportunity, or fully go out of their way to destroy them altogether.

It might also help if the media would report the truth instead of a bunch of concocted lies to pass off as the truth, in order to gain power for an ideology that is not only a proven failure, if you believe at all in human freedom and liberty but has also killed a hundred million people.

As always, the people will suffer while a few others construct the world as they would have it, sans the freedoms and liberties and that will become the "new normal" because they wish it so. Regardless of what any previous or existing laws state. The end will be the same, the costs will be higher than before and the failure will manifest itself in words such as, "we didn't do it, they did it..." "our socialism was corrupted by (fill in the blank)....." "ya gotta break some eggs to make an omelet..." and a thousand other quotes and excuses.

The media went along for the ride in some cases but mostly, they drove truth and facts out of their stories in order that their predominate ideology Marxism, could reign and that they might be allowed to rule.

You nailed it.  Socialism is a concentration of power at the federal level, leading to authoritarianism.  Try doing anything without a government permit -- you can't even remodel your own bathroom without one.  Better wear a safety belt in your own car, and better not drive that beater to the grocery store if it doesn't have a catalytic converter.  We are hemmed in by rules, bombarded with progressive propaganda on federally sponsored news radio, and our kids are taught from a federal playbook.  Four out of 9 Supreme Court Justices have gone on record saying we have no right to keep and bear arms, while freedom of religion is turned into a mandate against religion.  Our freedom isn't being taken, we are giving it away.

Stuxnet is intended to fuck up embedded logic controllers.  I've seen it on PCs--it doesn't do so much on the computer itself.  It might impact performance a bit, it may have ports open to listen for instructions, and it might occasionally transmit outbound info.

But it won't "break" the PC.

In France, for decades before the revolution, they literally "farmed" the citizens. Tax privileges were outsourced to private companies and they had their own militia, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferme_générale. It went for quite some time. They build a wall around Paris to collect tolls for goods imported into the city.

It takes some time for the public to get moving. And even then, they only guillotined very few of the leeches.

A long time ago my late father had said that every nation needs a dictatorship every ten years so that people can be reminded of how precious their democracy is.

Tyranny no doubt will come to the US in some form at some point in time. It will not only rob people of their freedoms but will also ( rightlly or wrongly) strip them of their entitements and instead impose obligations on them as if they are serving soldiers.

Perhaps then the American people will once again read their history but more importantly realise that the more they sought from government the more they gave away. Perhaps then they might fully realise that independence applies to individuals as much as it applies to nations.

at one time one could walk up to the white house and knock on the door..the leaders then did not fear the people.

the security for a "leader" tells me all I need to know . tyranny is so obvious yet so few see it.

we are like the man walking in the fog, while tigers hunt.

I hope the US military acts even with the risk of a general becoming a ruler..at least then the pretend would end.

In a further refinement of the psy-ops that has become the specialty of the sio-nazi (taxpayer funded)secret guvernment...

Kamp Fema inmates(aka formerly 'free' Merikans)are fed a limited ration of supposedly 'tru' news, which purports to komment upon the kurrent fluid state of affairs of the day....what used to be known as news n kommentary...

but there is nothing fluid at all about this situation...time has literally stopped for Merikans...who, dispossessed even of the actual ability to appear as actors in their own tragedy, are now allowed only to witness a similucrum of 'resistance'-like reportage...flashed onto the screen by the very agents of the Big SIS SYSTEM which eroded their wil to rebel, and then, having removed that possibility, makes rebellion stil appear possible, so that remaining resisters will not even realize their incarceration!

I've just come home from taking the male sheep to town, for a final fattening up before the Kurban Bayram(for those who don't know, the festival when our Muzzie friends cut the throats of their sheep for the feast of sacrifice)...

the odiously obvious metaphor which occured to me on the drive is very depressing...with the mad rush to get NDAA reinstated by and end run around the justice system itself, I believe that the last taboo has been broken by the kosher kenyan puppet, and the program is out in the open, for all to see...

damn it, Merikans, if yu go down without even struggle, the rest of our scattered pockets of resistance will be demoralized beyond repair...I pray today will be the last day of yur extended narcolepsy.

Using a simple "replacement" affectation can make it easier to keep track of which user account you're logged onto.

So if you have a dozen message-board accounts and don't want to mix them up, you just make a list of specific affectations to use for each account, something like this:

JOYFUL = "yu" for "you"

SIMIEN = "das" for "that"

etc...

Wed, 09/19/2012 - 15:16 | 2812381 RockyRacoon

And:

MORON =  "loose" versus "lose", and all the 2s mixed up: "too", "to", "two", and don't forget the homonyms like "their", "they're", and "there".   On second thought, he must have half the accounts on all the blogs!

Aw, it happens too the best of us...sometimes we loose track of are spelling.

English just wasn't *designed* to be spelled properly.  I kinda hate the "should of" and "would of" thing myself, but I don't really blame people for it.

Language is a *spoken* form of communication.  Writing is but a pale and distorted reflection of it.

I'll give ya that, especially the "distorted" part.  One must become proficient, however, in order not to be misunderstood.  A lack of basic grammar, syntax, and proper spelling of common words makes the writer look incompetent, whether that is the case or not.  It's all about credibility.  I mean, ferchrissakes, there is a spell-check option available to all.  Not using that adds lazy to the list.

Thank yu for yur interest...I would ordinarily hesitate to bring to the attention of readers the intracacies of what are mere syntactical devices to bring out meanings that could otherwise remain buried from the view of many readers...

but since, as per usual on a thread by this particular author, the message articulated is not accorded as much importance as the method of it's delivery, or persona of the messenger...let's diverge...

Merikan, for example, if yu think of the use of the letter A as suffix in English, with the implied negative -amoral, agnostic, etc....American is an implied(and disguised)negative...in this kontext, a kabbalistic device which has been inserted into the very heart of how Merikans think of and speak of themselves....as some of us are aware of who has written the history peeple study and believe, and how seriously it diverges from the truth about things...I make a studious effort to a)break thru the wall of (false)assumptions that impose barriers upon anyone interested in finding out the truth about their situation and status as victims of a pending katastophre...b)find devices which will help underline points salient to the readers' realizing that the syntactical smoke n mirrors which are built right into the fabric of the language and peeples means of expressing themselves is holding them back from forming basic precepts about the perpetrators of the krimes performed against them...the K in Merika is a reminder that the sioNazi Operation Sunrise legacy of traitors working in yur midst has succeeded in actually changing the Republic from what it was to a hollow imitation of same...other k changes are in reference to the konstant kacophony of kosher kabbalist disinfo which emanates from the kontrolled media and their blogosphere sidekikes such as GW.

it's quite a bit of extra work, but the more I do it, the easier it gets, and the klearer my means of expressing my meaning...

suggestion box: for those who don't appreciate what I'm trying to do here on behalf of my former kith n kin back in the fallen lands...and who do not want to make an effort to understand the message....

just skip it...and let anyone who does/is get on with doing so...yur not fooling anybody here(anymore) with all the noise and dog n pony show antics which somehow find their way into posts on "GEORGES" watch that dekonstruct his schtick.
