A simple strategy to gain some peace of mind, and at least feel like you are sticking it to the banks.

I like practice, not theory.

Do you feel the same way?  Are you concerned about bank runs, or just simply hate today's banks?  Want to practice disintermediation, but still need to make purchases online and pay regular bills?  Here is a simple strategy to gain some peace of mind, and at least feel like you are sticking it to the banks, in eight easy steps.

  1. Do not own CDs, nor use a checking or savings account.
  2. Do ask your employer if they will deduct and pay regular bills such as a mortgage.
  3. Do have a credit card, preferably issued by the same bank as your employer.
  4. Do minimize the monthly bills you pay (utilities) and purchases you make with this credit card.
  5. Do take your paychecks to your employer's bank and cash them.
  6. Do take some of your cash and pay off your credit card, entirely and timely, while at the bank.
  7. Do take other checks you may occasionally receive to the maker's bank and cash them.
  8. Do keep your cash some place safer than a bank (not hard to do) and invest in tangible assets.

Why can you feel good that the bank does not have your money?

Think about what the reserve requirement is, and what this means.

What are they marking to?

  • You have peace of mind even though ZIRP has destroyed any real return associated with having bank accounts...

I know many people who have closed all bank accounts.  Without exception, it has worked well, and provided peace of mind.

Wrap a brick in brown paper and attach the envelope to it.  That really gets their attention.

Perhaps there is another way to stuff up banks. We need to identify the better ones and transfer our funds there. Let the bad ones bleed.

Hmmm...that's odd. Never heard that one before. I'd try to get a casino in Vegas to give me $100k casino credit for endorsing it over to them (yeah, some of the bigger ones will), play a while maybe, wait a few days, cash in the chips a little at a time. BTW, those daily limits on credit card and debit card cash withdrawals? In Vegas, they don't always apply. Many of the casinos have deals with many of the banks to cover the bank's loss if it turns out to be fraudulent.

That is odd my credit union has never turned down my deposits.  Even 100k.  I do have a checking account as my wife is a small business owner and we need it.  Other then that I always pay my credit card off always at the end of the month.  I have two only AE and Visa.  I prefer to use my AE card.

Stop playing the debt game and starve the beast!  I never spend more then I can pay at the end of the month.

You know those things you get in the mail from Publishers Clearinghouse aren't real checks, right?

Yep, or better yet, if you have good enough credit to get credit cards, apply for every fucking one you can find on the same day (yes, I did), use all the credit you get to fund a forex account (yes, I did), wait for just the right time and go almost all-in, leaving yourself enough margin to not get knocked out before it hits a wide (for your time frame) stop. If it fails, file bankruptcy. Just don't lie about your income when you apply for the cards and there's nothing they can do about it.

If it works out (it's at least a 50-50 thing, basically), you're rich. Yes, I did, and yeah, I got lucky;) Posted all of it real-time on this site back in March thru June, from the plan, to the obtaining of the cards, to when I entered the trades and what I traded, and when I got out. It can be done and has been done and isn't really complicated at all.

(you can sign up a free forex demo account at fxcm.com in about 10 seconds by entering nothing but a fake email address, then have $50k in fake money to practice with. Works just as if it were real, using real forex market data. No downloads as you can use the web-based platform. The mechanics of it are as easy as flipping a coin.)

Now your moniker is starting to make sense.

I used to have a blog with that as part of the title, but made the mistake of putting it on blogspot (they routinely take them down, for usually mysterious reasons.) It was doing really well (Adsense) by the time they did. This kind of stuff is what was mostly posted there (alternative ways of living "off the grid" and "beating the system.")

I would add to take advantage of credit card offers like 10,000 bonus points for opening an account.  Open the acccount, spend the minimum required to get the cashback bonus, then put the card in a drawer and never use it again.

If the sign-up bonus is not sufficient to make it worth your while, send the reply mail envelope back full of rocks.

how about a little flower instead to show off your baking prowess and use of a hand grain mill

iff 45 people get injured breathing the flower powder, then so be it

You bake with flowers?  Really?

Remind me to never eat your cupcakes.
