Bruce Springsteen Slams Wall Street Pillaging of America In Powerful New Anthem
Here are the lyrics:
No cannonballs did fly
No rifles cut us down
No bombs fell from the sky
No blood soaked the ground
No powder flash blinded the eye
No deafening thunder sounded
But just as sure as the hand of god
They brought death to my hometown
They brought death to my hometown
No shells ripped the evening sky
No cities burning down
No armies stormed the shores for which we’d die
No dictators were crowned
High off on a quiet night
I never heard a sound
The marauders raided in the dark and brought death to my hometown, boys
Death to my hometown
They destroyed our families’ factories and they took our homes
They left our bodies on the plains
The vultures picked our bones
So listen up, my Sonny boy
Be ready for when they come
For they’ll be returning sure as the rising sun
Now get yourself a song to sing and sing it ’til you’re done
Yeah, sing it hard and sing it well
Send the robber baron’s straight to hell
The greedy thieves that came around
And ate the flesh of everything they’ve found
Whose crimes have gone unpunished now
Walk the streets as free men now
And they brought death to our hometown, boys
Death to our hometown, boys
Death to our hometown, boys
Death to our hometown
This makes me want to record my own song "Feel the Power" even more.

what a tool
I remember back when me and alot of my friends would get together on a Friday or Saturday night to go see him instead of street racing in Philly on Front Street, we would usually see him at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park whenever we knew he was in town.
It was a real treat back then, you remember? The simple things.. Like grab your favorite girl and hanging out with good friends drinking beers illegally with nobodys cell phones ringing constantly, you know, The Good Ole Day's.. He was a real up and commer back then and he finnally got discovered big time.
Personally, I was never really crazy about "The Boss" or the E Street band for that matter but it always made me feel proud about a hometown boy makes good. The definition of the American dream.. then, now all you have to do is become a cult of personality and your a millionare with no redemable talent.
His songs always take me back to the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights and those endless summer rentals or the killer parties that you just can't get away with anymore... Ahh, The good day's!! But this song, Not so much, but I have respect for him doing his own thing.
Do you Bruce, and let them know what's on your mind, good reviews or other. He was an era to never be repeated again.. ever.
I didn't really change, but something must have.
springsteen will be recognized as a great american songwriter/poet long after we are all forgotten. mock him all you like, you will never change that.
He may be flawed and have a history he would rather not face but at least he is speaking out. He grew up without a lot, just another guy from Jersey, and did well with his trade.
Hopefully, this song will resonate with some people that haven't been paying attention. At least he is doing something , who else will take the stage to protest the corruption and lawlessness that is destroying so many lives?
meh, was a big fan till he started beating his ex-wife - typical liberal hypocrite
Bruce Springsteen + Born to Run = Peak. To be more specific, Jungleland.. No disrespect Boss
Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLFLrTnue9s&feature=related
Look up Springsteen steals from Van Morrison, some proof here:
http://www.greasylake.org/the-circuit/index.php?/topic/101741-bruce-rips-off-van-morrison/
Similiar to Joni Mitchell accusing Bob Dylan of stealing.
Pop music is as phoney as our Fed.
And not for nothing, Bruce has been bashing America since Born in the USA and ringing the cash register. This is the same country that gave him the American Dream and put him in the 1%.
He is as fake as Michael Moore.
And where is the Springsteen wing on Riverview Hospital in Red Bank NJ or the Springsteen Elementary School in Asbury park, NJ?
Bon Jovi whose music sucks does way more than Bruce.
Is he talking about Mitt Romney?
I heard he started playing the internationale in concert
The Boss rules!!!!!
So some fucking song is going to save us?
I'll believe that stupid shit about the time I hear 2 Live Crew bust out "In Excelius Deo".
then we'll know the shit's in the fan.
Is this Bruce or Black 47? Lyrics/music are a dead ringer for the latter.
Cut Bruce some slack. He made Courtney Cox famous....................
Sounds like something a high school sophomore would write.
You don't need to read the post below, just listen to them squeeeeeeeeal.
Bruce is an opportunist like genital warts. Listen to some real music...
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized

like them both. Bruce is still the Boss and has been active in sounding off against the powers that be since ST were born. Also, what is with the lecture after every song by ST??? Great band on record, but massively let down live as he talks too dam much.
Let it be known that the author of this post (George Washington) was a slaveowner.
Bruce will be singing that tune at an Obama rally soon.
I see he's got Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine on stage with him.
Terrible just terrible
Terrible?!
Regardless of the terrible choices that Bruce has made in politics and with his personal life, he is NOT a terrible singer, songwriter, or artist.
If you write a poem or a story and it is good, it will be recognized as such long after you die. Same goes with a painting, a statue, a film, or a song. And that's why classic songs and classic artists will be listened to and will still be "relevant" long after we're all gone.
I don't like a lot of the left-wing politics by artists. But neither do I like the right wing.
From an artistic and musical perspective, this is a good song with a catchy tune and with lyrics that may reverberate through the masses. Is he just pandering to the current angst against the bankers? Perhaps; he could be shilling for some shillings.
But I like the song and this song captures the anger that a lot of people have against banksters. They really should jail more and more of them for all the fiscal shenanigans that they created.
Bruce has not had a hit since the 80s....Methinks I smell desparation.
Bruce is always looking out for the "working man"....until one works for him. Many alledged stories of Bruce having crocodile arms and treating the "help" as would a feudal lord.
Feck 'im !
Standard stuff from him. Not all that impressed, regardless if I agree. The guy hasn't been relevant in years, and keeps trying to pretend he's young and has promising talent. He doesn't. He jumped the shark more than once and hasn't learned that what made him good early on is that he was legitimate, writing about things that really pertained to him and his life. "Glory Days", arguably the last song he's written that was even worth listening to, was his Swan Song. It was written about a friend of his, but in reality was a metaphor for his own decline.
I saw him in concert about 10 years ago 'because I had to'. In other words, I have to be able to say I saw Bruce in concert when I'm 75, don't I? But the concert was uninspired, the songs bored me, and frankly his politics are outrageous and, well, a little sad. I feel bad for him. Sure, he's got his cash, and he lives well down there in Colt's Neck, but he ain't the old blue collar boy he pretends to be. He's privileged now.
He walks the talk, I'll give him that. He gives back. Not that he has to, or that he even should, or that it matters to me. In fact, it doesn't In some ways, I think it's pathetic how much press he tries to generate with his 'giving back'. Last I looked, it's better to do that quietly and just be happy you did it. No reason to draw attention to yourself.
But relevant? Nope. He's a has-been.
When Bruce did the Super Bowl the shark jumped Bruce. That was an embarrassment to watch and even worse to listen to.
Thanks Boss!!!
tell it like it is.
First real spark of life from Bruce since '73 (Wild Innocent and E Street Shuffle). Let's see where he takes it.
Don't underestimate his ability to reach his millions of very loyal fans.
Talk about a kick ass album. The song Kittys back from Wild Innocent and E Street Shuffle is 7:07 minutes of sheer intensity. Besides Led Zeps Communication breakdown, It just doesnt get more intense than this. I remember it Kicked the shit out of my JL subwoofers. Those were the fucking days. Solid talent.
DUP
Let's see where he takes it.
Fair enough.
I know many of his loyal fans. They HELOC'ed their houses, love big government, believe that they should have giant pensions, endorse the police state. In short, I see a lot of sheep talking about their Springsteen concert experiences.
So do I, and it bores me to tears, but everyone deserves the chance to change, to learn, to redeem themselves - why not Springsteen fans?
We all deserve a chance for redemption.
Redemption in New Jersey. Now that is a song title. Maybe a movie. It sure sounds like fiction.
I was born there and did 18 hard years. As soon as the going was good I was g-o-n-e.
What a shill for the moochers. Obama's got a big smile on his face as the sheep are lined up for shearing as they bleat their two minutes of hate. Not one single Wall Street banker was elected to represent the interests of the people, but ALL of their enablers were.
I thought this was a headline from the Onion.
I have some old CDs of his, near new condition.
Where do I meet up with him to recover my investment in them?
Sounded sane to anyone watching the banksters lay waste to our way of life.
"So listen up, my Sonny boy
Be ready for when they come
For they’ll be returning sure as the rising sun"
Does anybody know if Mr. Springsteen is pro gun control like so many of the other phonies in this area?
I'd bet he's of the elitist school: Strongly in favor of control of your guns, while firmly believing that he and his security detail should have unlimited access to whatever guns they deem necessary...
Bingo!
Funny. Married to a super model and he goes screwing around with Patti. Married to Patti and he goes screwing around with ANOTHER skank....He'll right a song about ANYTHING to make a buck. That crap he wrote about 9/11 made me sick....
I saw him and the band live at the Stone Balloon in Newark, DE right after the album The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle came out. They were incredible. Clarence Clemmons stepped on my pack of smokes while he stalked across the bar. I was a fan until Born to Run came out. What a snore-fest that was. All downhill from there.
His wife is looking at him, like she does not agree
censorship! Fuck yeah!
bruce was fooled by obama like many others, he's been contributing to the libertarian party as of late
He was fooled because, like the rest of the sheep, he wanted to be fooled.
I wasn't fooled. Were you fooled?
Still spewing the 911 lie.
911
a valid touchstone
for truth
