KNOW YOUR SHITTY DEAL MEMES

I'm glad that Romney has resuscitated the Muppet meme.

The picture pretty much says it all.

I have no fucking idea how much it costs to subsidize Sesame Street (probably zero).

I am, however, certain it costs far less than subsidizing Big Oil and I am even more certain that it is less than perpetually subsidizing TBTF Wall Street or Goldman's shitty solar energy malinvestment deals for that matter (who was Solyndra's investment banker? The same shitty dealers backing Romney this time around).

Don't hold your breath waiting for Frick or Frack to make that simple observation.

Just more noise to distract the Muppets.

My forty something son grew up with Sesame Street and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.  Now, he is a professor at an Asian university.

I called him and asked if he remembered the theme song to Mr Rogers.  He responded, " I suppose so, but, Dad, I am in front of a class, at the moment."

I asked him to sing it; he did and his entire class of Khmer speakers joined in.

Make your own conclusions of the value of PBS.

From Leonard Read's classic work, "Anything that's Peaceful" (p. 60) --

President Cleveland vetoed a $10,000 appropriation to purchase seed wheat for Texans who had suffered a drought.  Included in his message was the point I wish to emphasize:

“Federal aid in such cases encourages the expectation of paternal care on the part of the Government and weakens the sturdiness of our national character, while it prevents the indulgence among our people of that kindly sentiment and conduct which strengthens the bonds of a common brotherhood.”  —President S. Grover Cleveland

If PBS can't stand on their own let them fail.  If JPMorgan can't stand on its own, let them fail.  End the Fed.  Shrink the freaking government.  Put your freaking big boy pants on and deal with it.  I'm sick of the Fed's going into my pocket to pay for crap that it doesn't need to causing inflation and crony corruption.  Otherwise we're going down ala the Soviet Union in '90-91 for most of the same reasons.

If no one is willing to even cut a Federal propaganda arm like PBS, we are truly screwed.  People like you are the reason I am confident gold will gain in value and that we will end up like the Soviets were 20 years ago.  Enjoy the freaking ride to the bottom as you watch Sesame Street numbnuts.

Just show me where in the Constitution the Federal Government is authorized to fund anything beyond "protecting our borders".   That was Romney's point - the Federal Government has no business funding PBS, NPR, alphabet agencies, buying GM shares, subsidizing Chevy Volts, or loaning money to Solyndra.    These things would be a function of the individual soverign states, if they so choose.

You'd think wilth all the Ron Paulites on here that someone would actually "get it"..

Yes the "Ron Paulites" do get it...BOHICA!

There are things that Ron Paul said that I agree with 100%. There are other things that I do not comletely agree with.

However, one of the things about Ron Paul that I find very comendible is his willingness to say that cuts are required across the board, including...ahem...from the military industrial complex.

In the same night Romney tells us he wants to kill PBS but not cut a single dime from defense. Of course Barry tells us he will cut but then spends more.

Same old, same old all around.

Have any of you considered he mentioned PBS because Jim Lehrer was the moderator?  It would have been very easy to leave PBS out of it since they employ the guy moderating the debate.  I think it was an attempt to show everyone should have to justify their existence.

It's CNN, but the info seems to corroborate: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/04/fact-check-will-romney-send-big-bir...

"Sesame Workshop, which produces "Sesame Street," says on its website that 93% of production costs for the show are covered by licensing activities or corporate sponsorships, CNNMoney.com reports.

But Children's Television Workshop, which helps produce "Sesame Street," gets a decent number of grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Here are the numbers for those ready to count with the Count: In 2009, it received $2.5 million in total. In 2010, a federal Ready to Learn grant, which helps put on educational TV shows, provided about $1.5 million, and the overall digital presence for "Sesame Street" and friends got $8 million to help spread educational messages and games online in 2011."

So Mittens could ding Big Bird by nuking PBS, but more than likely the Sesame Street gang would end up elsewhere: Nickelodean, Comedy Central, or a broadcast network.  Since not everyone has cable...it would be best served on a boradcast network or just staying at PBS.

Mittens needs to be careful not piss off Hitler though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y67ebknqp1c

Let's prioritize just a little.

Projected cost of 'war on drugs' in 2013: $26 billion federal, 25 billion state and local.

Projected DHS budget for 2013: 45 billion.

Projected 'defense' budget for 2013: 672.9 billion.

Federal money for CPB: around 400 million.

So, where again should we start trimming the pork?

My parents don't watch anything other than PBS in the evenings. They contribute and so do many others.

You would never get that kind of a cultural, educational and news mix of content from the MSM.

So in terms of priority, I would rather see the money borrowed from China, actually Japan, pay for that than Blankfein's new Hampton guesthouse or some crony solar deal or another consulting contract for Giuliani & Co.

In the end, however, you can't spend money you can't print...
Ben Bernanke

Does anyone really believe PBS is the root of our problems? Is that the best anyone can come up with? Trying to dumb the population down even further to save what it costs to be in Afghanistan for two hours. As we print QE to infinity to fund the trust fund mafioso.

Trust me, the rest of the world is laughing at us, actually shaking their heads in wonderment, and with good reason.

PBS is just above MSNBC as far as political content, Soros owns that bitch, a virtual parade of clowns from CFR, CAP, and host of his IPCC coordinated climate-scam Carbon tax pushing groups regularly appear on PBS/NPR "news" programs. That's the problem for many about the public funding with PBS and especially NPR delivering Progressive propaganda at about a 4th grade level so it can't be dumbed down much further.

85% of the funding for public television comes from contributions and licensing fees. the 444 mil accounts for 15% of their operating budget and .00012% of the Federal budget.

I grew up on a lot of the children's programs they aired in the early 70's and I'm glad I was exposed to that rather than the vile mindless non stop killing kids today are being weened on via the video games parents so gleefully hand over to them...and yes (for those about to pounce) I do in fact contribute to PBS every year and have so for the better part of 12 years now and I don't mind the $1.43 per year of my tax dollars that go towards funding it in addition.
