White House Manipulating the Jobs Data? Unpossible...
ABC is reporting that the White House has told defense contractors to not issue layoff notices until after the election. They even went as far as to offer to pay for any legal fees associated with not giving employees proper notice - pardon, you will pay for any legal fees associated with the administration keeping the unemployment rate artificially low.
Two things:
1. Why aren't we hearing more about this from the mainstream media (rhetorical)?
2. Still think the jobs report yesterday was real?
We don't think so

Isnt there a new law now that a company has to give 60 day notice to workers if there is to be a mass layoff? Obama copying union rules? How do you define mass anyways? Good luck enforcing that for a financially distressed company.

How does the NFP report compare to the tax revenue for the month? If employment went up, should not tax revenue also increase? Surely one of you folks have access to such data. Help a poor unemployed white christian male out here.
There is some relation there but you need further breakdown of the tax revenue collected by the federal gov't.

I am not a fan of Matthews or Welch. But it sounds to me like Matthews is almost threatening Welch as if there is going to be some sort of price to pay for his questioning government information. It used to be the media's job to question EVERYTHING but now it seems that it has become media's job to defend everything. Sad state of affairs.

Unemployment is high for a number of reasons including unemployment benefits may be too high. I tried to hire some people last month for lawn service and I was astounded at the excuses..."too far"..."too busy"....and the best one was, "I'm making too much from unemployment. Why should I work?"
I know there's a recession but the problem is deeper then merely economic.
