Elections are making us choke
Illusions of choice are a joke
It's all just a ploy
For sheep to enjoy
Like rabbits enjoy a good smoke

The Limerick King

Wall Street has captured the State
Of this there can be no debate
Their power will rise
As liberty dies
And standards of living deflate

The Limerick King

As Kleptos will always want more
Their Cronys get ready for war
Their force is prepared
And none will be spared
Their slogan is: "Death To The Poor!"

The Limerick King

"The really dangerous American fascist... is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power... The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity, every crack in the common front against fascism... But always and everywhere they can be identified by their appeal to prejudice and by the desire to play upon the fears and vanities of different groups in order to gain power. They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection."

-- U.S. Vice President Henry A. Wallace, quoted in the New York Times, April 9, 1944

"Today the path to total dictatorship in the U.S. can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by Congress, the President, or the people... We have a well-organized political-action group in this country, determined to destroy our Constitution and establish a one-party state... The important point to remember about this group is not its ideology but its organization. It is a dynamic, aggressive, elite corps, forcing its way through every opening, to make a breach for a collectivist one-party state. It operates secretly, silently, continuously to transform our Government without suspecting that change is under way... If I seem to be extremist, the reason is that this revolutionary clique cannot be understood, unless we accept the fact that they are extremist. It is difficult for people governed by reasonableness and morality to imagine the existence of a movement which ignores reasonableness and boasts of its determination to destroy; which ignores morality, and boasts of its cleverness in outwitting its opponents by abandoning all scruples. This ruthless power-seeking elite is a disease of our century... This group ... is answerable neither to the President, the Congress, nor the courts. It is practically irremovable."

Senator William Ezra Jenner R Indiana 1947-59

Rickie Lee Jones Living It Up
Bob Dylan - Summer Days - Live
Summer days, summer nights are gone
Summer days and the summer nights are gone
I know a place where there’s still somethin’ going on

I got a house on a hill, I got hogs all out in the mud
I got a house on a hill, I got hogs out lying in the mud
Got a long-haired woman, she got royal Indian blood

Everybody get ready—lift your glasses and sing
Everybody get ready to lift your glasses and sing
Well, I’m standin’ on the table, I’m proposing a toast to the King

Well I’m drivin’ in the flats in a Cadillac car
The girls all say, “You’re a worn-out star”
My pockets are loaded and I’m spending every dime
How can you say you love someone else when you know it’s me all the time?

Well, the fog’s so thick you can’t spy the land
The fog is so thick that you can’t even spy the land
What good are you anyway, if you can’t stand up to some old businessman?

Wedding bells ringin’, the choir is beginning to sing
Yes, the wedding bells are ringing and the choir is beginning to sing
What looks good in the day, at night is another thing

She’s looking into my eyes, she’s holding my hand
She’s looking into my eyes, she’s holding my hand
She says, “You can’t repeat the past.” I say, “You can’t? What do you mean,
you can’t? Of course you can.”

Where do you come from? Where do you go?
Sorry that’s nothin’ you would need to know
Well, my back has been to the wall for so long, it seems like it’s stuck
Why don’t you break my heart one more time just for good luck

I got eight carburetors, boys I’m using ’em all
Well, I got eight carburetors and boys, I’m using ’em all
I’m short on gas, my motor’s starting to stall

My dogs are barking, there must be someone around
My dogs are barking, there must be someone around
I got my hammer ringin’, pretty baby, but the nails ain’t goin’ down

You got something to say, speak or hold your peace
Well, you got something to say, speak now or hold your peace
If it’s information you want you can go get it from the police

Politician got on his jogging shoes
He must be running for office, got no time to lose
He been suckin’ the blood out of the genius of generosity
You been rolling your eyes—you been teasing me

Standing by God’s river, my soul is beginnin’ to shake
Standing by God’s river, my soul is beginnin’ to shake
I’m countin’ on you love, to give me a break

Well, I’m leaving in the morning as soon as the dark clouds lift
Yes, I’m leaving in the morning just as soon as the dark clouds lift
Gonna break the roof in—set fire to the place as a parting gift

Summer days, summer nights are gone
Summer days, summer nights are gone
I know a place where there’s still somethin’ going on

You can't put people in boxes without making yourself look ignorant to the facts.

Person = ZH reader = a reader + a person

Person is greedy + has a tonne of wealth = greedy

Person is not greedy + has little wealth, but wants to protect it = not greedy

Person is greedy + hasn't shit = greedy

Person is not greedy + hasn't shit = not greedy

ZH reader = has an internet connection and literacy.

Voter = has a motive or lack of.

No difference, or everybody's a litle bit different..

There's degrees of mailce, intelligence, ignorance, greed.

The truth doesn't hurt when you know you already know you're being lied to. Just saying

from Worldwide Effects of Nuclear War, 1975

It has been estimated that a weapon with a fission yield of 1 million tons TNT equivalent power (1 megaton) exploded at ground level in a 15 miles-per-hour wind would produce fallout in an ellipse extending hundreds of miles downwind from the burst point. At a distance of 20-25 miles downwind, a lethal radiation dose (600 rads) would be accumulated by a person who did not find shelter within 25 minutes after the time the fallout began. At a distance of 40-45 miles, a person would have at most 3 hours after the fallout began to find shelter. Considerably smaller radiation doses will make people seriously ill. Thus, the survival prospects of persons immediately downwind of the burst point would be slim unless they could be sheltered or evacuated.

After I tell people I'm not voting this time, I follow up with the followeing question:

What would happen if 80% of people didn't vote?

They don't really have an answer.

But I do.

I tell them that the government would therefore be indisputably illegitimate.

I don't take it any further than that, because their puzzled looks tells me all I need to know.

They mostly think I'm a kook anyway.

Parrotile's picture

Illegitimate or not, it's a case of "Once they are in power, they are untouchable".

And with the electronic vote capture systems it may not be such a difficult task to "create" a "few extra" votes, to convey a nice warm feeling of legitimacy / representation to the Great Unwashed.

The Powers That Be WILL get the result they desire, with your consent, or without.

Seems the "consent" of the American people isn't that important these days - all that matters are the wishes of the seriously influential (= those with money, other assets, or the right family connections to the New World Mafia)

Beginning with his inauguration address, Franklin D Roosevelt began blaming the economic crisis on bankers and financiers, the quest for profit, and the self-interest basis of capitalism:

Primarily this is because rulers of the exchange of mankind's goods have failed through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and have abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men. True they have tried, but their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence....The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.[75]

The thing is none of what is happening is new, just the gimmicks involved. The behavior has been seen and written about many times before.

This time is absolutely not different. Anyone who says it is is a bullshit artist.

Actually, Frederich Martin was a rich NY dandy who rote a book about idle or leisure wealth and the dangers posed by it, primarily to the wealthy class.

He wrote it turn of the last preceding century. That quote is all he is remembered for. Ironically, he apparently engaged in humanitarian endeavors to assuage public opinion.

I scanned the book and noticed the same old narrative about how the wealthy class had a lock on the intelligence essential for the proper function of society.

my neighbor keeps asking me, am i going to go heaven when i die. its not really a question, but a statement.

am i choosing heaven, (choosing jesus now) in order to go to heaven later. of course the future is indeterminate. in a hundred years there may be other choices for the after death experience, and heaven will be just one of them. the future is an empty vessel to be filled, by politicians and evangelists in the present

of course you can't think about heaven (thanks geo carlin). and since humans are rational thinking creatures, the best way to herd them around is make thinking irrelevent, make them live in the future. if we lived in the past (your teachers and preachers and stock brokers tell you no no, then more of us would pay attention to the present) if we reviewed every action of the george bush presidency for instance, the man would be in jail and the politicians working right now would be scared shitless. the last thing they want is to be held accountable for their actions.

Tijuana Donkey Show's picture

Often, I find that most peoples idea of heaven is my idea of hell. An example is anything with virgins. I want whores, blow, and liquor. Virgins are worthless, give me a paradise of nympho's with an oral fetish, and I'll back your cause. Also, pork.

williambanzai7's picture

Have you read about the neurologist who had a life death experience and now swears there is some sort of life after death consciousness? You can almost see where that is going...

science and religion ARE compatible. most technology now is beyond the average persons understanding, yet the effects (of technology) are very evident, (what is the term for evidence of gods divine prescence in the world?) which is in some ways like the second coming. mostly people are free from understanding science, but clearly benefit from its manifestations of grace and understanding. BUT to the point of what to do next Tuesday, sure our personal choice is nearly meaningless, but to paraphrase Carlin, "you've been a good audience.."

and to be a good audience doesn't mean you always laugh, but you follow the narrative, and you react, truly and genuinely. (and you do a good job Wm B, as both audience and performer, because performers react to what they are saying).

there's a new retro pub of McLuhans sayings, called the Book of Probes, with visual accompaniment, which i think you would like.

Yes, the banks will find a way to keep counting your debts even when you die. They will probably bundle the debt of dead people and sell it as package with some fancy acronym. Should be good for a few points at least.

williambanzai7's picture

The idea that ones debts are not extinguished by death is certainly not new and we can rest assured that our TBTF Overlords are workig hard to revive it.
