How Can You Help America? Let Politicians Know You Disapprove by NOT Voting Tomorrow & Buying 1oz of Physical Gold & Silver Inst
Given that every single election in our lifetimes has been a sham between two candidates that serve the same money masters that want to destroy your livelihood and that of your family, why not save your time and energy by refusing to vote in an election in which your vote will not make one iota of difference towards America’s future but instead, choose to engage in an action that can? Take advantage of the bankers' raid of the paper gold and silver futures markets last Friday and subsequent lower prices in gold and silver by visiting your local precious metals dealer instead of going to the polls tomorrow, and buy one troy ounce of physical gold and silver! One of the main reasons that the bankers have been having so much difficulty matching the successes of their previous gold and silver raids executed just a few years prior is due to the support of recent heavy physical buying in gold and silver at both the institutional and retail level. So yes, there is something you can do tomorrow that is 1000 times more constructive and helpful to America than voting. Go down to your local precious metals dealer and buy an ounce of physical gold or physical silver, or preferably, one troy ounce of both, and let the politicians that bow down to the money masters really know what you think.

oh, I agree fully. I was raised in a proper continental european fascist household - can you imagine how unsettling it is for me reading Americans calling their government fascist? I used to go spare on that. Like "you are blind and are trying to find out the colour peach by feeling one".
Nevertheless: the ivory towers never released knowledge easily - you have to raid them. As soon as Americans feel the need to know more about statecraft - in the sense the Founding Fathers did, by discussing how to shape their government so that it functions in the desired way, they will do and they will "fix it", as the saying goes.
You're a bright guy, but you should go "spare" on the european arrogance. You know little of America, nor its' history if you think one, we are not as fascist as the EU and two, capable of "fixing it".
Statecraft was a function of one's knowledge of political economy, one's class and position in society. Our founding fathers were merchantilists with a bend towards monarchy. You have bought the propaganda. The Constitution was DESIGNED to limit democratic passions and protect Elitist power and wealth.
Don't confuse the random anarchy that results from an ever expanding empire and lack of governmental control for laissez faire capitalism and free markets. Those charcteristics were the result of a country without formal regulation and we prospered for it. Once our borders were set and the gilded age sought protection from competition and the expansion into new markets- they embraced governmental power, central banking and corporate control of the political system.
So the 5% that "libertarian" GJ would get is significant, but 5% withholding votes is not?
Admit it, you still think that this system can work. If the right leader somehow gets elected, all of this will change.
In reality, the only "leader" who would actually accomplish this would be the leader who would never be involved in this to begin with.
Not going to junk you as your post may be misguided, but certainly not junk.

Exactly right, pods. A 5% move in turnout is noise. See http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/turnout.php
In 2008 the turnout was 57.48%, in 200 it was 51.3% and in 1996 it was under 50% and before 1972 it was normally above 60%, so a move of 5% doesn't break the bands of the status quo. Where a 5% showing by a 3rd party strengthens the case for debate inclusion.
As I said, if you could be sure that the turn out would drop by a large margin - exactly what would be meaningful is up for debate, but I think you'd have to drop below any other recent turnout - then that might be more important than a vote for a third party.
And I don't care if it is for Gary Johnson or someone else, so long as they can break the R and D duopoly.
For what it is worth, pods, I always read your comments.
edit: I should add that I do not think that anyone being elected as President could fix the system. The power of the executive is mythical and not nearly enough attention is paid to Congress. But, if your question is whether I think the right person being elected to the WH plus enough of the right people being elected to Congress could save this, then yes I am guilty of that optimism.
Well I know what you speak of. I was there. I voted for a guy with a porno stash in '08 using this exact same logic.
For me, it was because doing this was easy. If the right "leader" was elected, this whole thing could be turned around and I was not living under a soft, unseen tyranny.
If I was to admit that voting was not a solution, then I would be forced to act in other ways. Most assume that this would progress along the lines of soap box, ballot box, ammo box. That, and a lifetime of reinforcement that our system was the best, and we were the good guys made for a really was a difficult transition. Many a night I found myself drunk at a keyboard, searching for that one thing that I could show everyone that would open their eyes and change things. Then I realized that I can only change myself. And I realized that the single biggest thing I could do was to withdraw from the system as best as I could. Avoid credit, get out of debt, and place my saved capital in something as insulated as possible from the FRN.
Each of us has to have this internal battle, and thanks to this venue, and specifically Cog Dis's long, thoughtful discussions I am doing it in a healthy way for me and my family.
Best of luck to you!

Edit: As for me, I am just another idiot on a keyboard who happens to come up with a decent idea from time to time!
I agree PODS, we can only change ourselves, that's where it all begins.
Over the last seven days I have withdrawn every cent I have in the system and now hold on to it either in cash, gold, lead, or food. I'm working on erasing the debt but it's going to take some time.
Best of luck to you all as well!
From your lips...
Happy 5th of November, pods.
