Update On Potential War Against Syria

George Washington's picture

We reported yesterday:

  • 10,000 U.S. troops – as well as French, British and Nato troops – are amassing off the coast of Syria for a potential invasion

Here are updates in this quickly-moving situation:

  • Pentagon officials say that there is no evidence that Syria is mixing chemical weapons, and “it’s not even clear that the precursors have been moved from separate storage sites to one location”
  • On the other hand, the the Syria Tribune has released a video allegedly showing Syrian rebels killing rabbits with chemical weapons, and threatening to use them against supporters of the Syrian government. (It is impossible at this point to say whether this is genuine or propaganda)
  • The U.S. will designate one of the leading Syrian rebel groups as a terrorist operation.  McClatchy notes that – until recently – the Syrian opposition blamed this terrorist group’s attacks on the government. In other words, the terrorist violence carried out by one of the main opposition groups was wrongly blamed on the Syrian government (in fact, the U.S. has backed various terrorist opposition groups in Syria)

Charlie preyed on the weak of mind & spirit for his own twisted reasons...I don't think he was that much interested in just the pure tax dodge aspects of Scientology.

I had the good fortune to work with a Scientologist, he is a good man and explained it as best he could to me. But that was my final takeaway of it as a "religion".

This guy (like me) would like nothing more than to see the evil that is Manson, dead.

Big stink about this at the Air Force Academy a few years back.

Not really sure how 'directed' it is from higher up or if it's part of the culture. The Bushido Warrior types run a bit different than the civilian crowd.

So where we at on this?

We got a mini-me dictator who, like his daddy before him, butchers or otherwise abuses "his people"...a few of those go off the plantation and start demonstrating (naturally, for being, ya know, killed and raped) get shot down like stray dogs and the jihadis see their opportunity & step into an alignment with the real rebels/patriots...who they will promptly kill or enslave if they prevail.

That about right?

Sounds like another day in the middle east.

The good things Papa Assad did are over shadowed by the many atrocities he allowed/ordered under his thirty year reign.

Think about that...thirty years. He must have been quite popular or very, very feared. It was all about power, he killed anyone who got in his way...including the "Brotherhood".

Its a very different place than Australia or America my friend...for a little while ;-)

GW: are you asserting that the Assad regime has WMD in the form of chemical weapons?  You are posting this information; so at least you are sympatico with the thesis that Assad has at least the possibility of possession.

Or is this a situation that will become "Obama lied, people died."

Maybe the Syrians have stocks that come from certain storage locations in the Bekka?

It is tough to figure out, I'll grant all of us that.

GW: are you read-in to the situation?

Israel is readying the freedom bombs for Gaza :

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/report-israel-threatens-to...

Report: Israel threatens to cancel Hamas truce if Islamic Jihad leaders enter Gaza Two members of the Iranian-backed group had planned to visit Friday, along with the leader-in-exile of Hamas Khaled Meshal.

No more truce = war.

As far as I can tell these are the initial contitions of the agreement. I don't see where Israel has a specific case or cause to assert the leaders of HAMAS should not go into Gaza, within that agreement.

--

1: (no title given for this section)

A. Israel should stop all hostilities in the Gaza Strip land, sea and air including incursions and targeting of individuals.

B. All Palestinian factions shall stop all hostilities from the Gaza Strip against Israel including rocket attacks and all attacks along the border.

C. Opening the crossings and facilitating the movements of people and transfer of goods and refraining from restricting residents' free movements and targeting residents in border areas and procedures of implementation shall be dealt with after 24 hours from the start of the ceasefire.

D. Other matters as may be requested shall be addressed.

2: Implementation mechanisms:

A. Setting up the zero hour for the ceasefire understanding to enter into effect.

B. Egypt shall receive assurances from each party that the party commits to what was agreed upon.

C. Each party shall commit itself not to perform any acts that would breach this understanding. In case of any observations Egypt as the sponsor of this understanding shall be informed to follow up.

http://www.jpost.com/Defense/Article.aspx?id=292952

--

And that would seem to indicate that it would be Israel breaking the agreement in that case, not HAMAS.

The psychotic, deranged, USSA is secretly hoping, hinting, trying to loose the "war" in the ME, declare victory, and roll up the empire.  Here is an opportunity for the Russians, or their proxy to fulfill that unspoken nightmare.  A carrier on the bottom of the Med just might do it.

and we have been told the same story about Irans weapons. but US policy is always to sell the prospective war in the most dire terms, even when you know its cakewalkn power.  you see which countries border Iran to the east and west and you realize that total hegemony of the ME could be achieved, but i suppose they need to clean up Afghanistan first. the Russians will make a machievellian bargain, which is where Syria comes in. their motivations are acute, the so called defensive missiles aimed at Moscow put there by Dick Cheney. but for the Russians to trade Syria for a rollback of those missiles, they first have to be committed to Syria, so things must get dicey, before the bargain can be made. and if the Russians roll over on Syria, Iran will be much more compliant on its nuclear program, so Russia has a strong card to play by defending Syria (symbollically before it throws them to the rebels, and government by anarchy enforced by Israel on any government which tries to establish itself- which is what you have in Iraq) Obama is a neocon, so pick a target date for US hegemony in the ME, 2025?

Sooner or later, and by all evidence it will be sooner, the US won't have enough manpower that isn't suffering from PTSD, plain old exhaustion, battle fatigue - whatever you want to call it - to be able to fight one more war with ground troops. It's already here - look at the dependence of the military of hired mercenaries "to free up troops for essential duties". Sure. And look at the increasing use of drones - not because they can do a better job than boots on the ground, as is claimed, but because we have chewed up almost all our viable boots on the ground in one meat grinder after another. As it is, the military is being forced to accept WAY substandard people just to fill the ranks - morons and criminals are welcome at any recruiting station these days. What the Federal Reserve and the bankers have done to the economy, and what the politicians have done to the constitution, the military/industrial complex has done to the cream of the crop of young America. All wasted.

How many Americans actually give a shit what Syria does or does not do to Israel, or vice versa? Sure Assad is a psychotic butcher, but he's on the other side of the world and we have plenty of psychotic butchers right here at home. I hope I don't need to make a list to back up that assertion.

When we told people ten years ago and before the Iraq war that one of the real major reasons for these protracted wars was to eliminate the American military threat so when the county is invaded there will be no armies to protect the people of America, nobody heard or cared about this sad truth.

People still do not believe this, but the facts show the the report was true and the program to eliminate the troops is still ongoing to this day.

Americans are careless about who dies or goes to fight the foreign banksters wars for profit and the eugenics programs. As long as they have their ipods and beer, and the TV and electricity is on, no one will really care. That is, until it all ends.

Pray for those poor ignorant isrealli people that will never understand how they have been created, used, and set up to be the fall guy in this coming world war. After more escalation of the war in Syria, and the possible false flag event of using chemical weapons happens, isreal will be blown off the map from every direction there is to eliminate the worlds only real terrorist nation. All as well planned of course, so do not tell anyone. The more war isreal instigates, the closer they are getting to their own country's demise. Most will say good riddance too. It is ironic that they blabberate the isrealli motto of, by deception they will make war. The history book might reflect how they too were deceived by the puppet masters that taught them this evil philosophy of murderers and war crimes commiters.

Nonsense.  It's a coincidence that the rebel leader in Syria has the same name as the rebel leader in Lybia.  Just because the IMF is supplying monetary support to the rebels and Turkey is supplying weapon support to the rebels doesn't mean AAssaadd is being provoked.

I heard everyday Syrians being interviewed when the Arab Spring first started.  Most people were happy with their way of life and had things pretty good.  They said the small rebel group was just that, extremists.  Health care, housing, the works.  People in Lybia didn't even have to pay for healthcare and housing, their evil dictator took care of them because he was rich beyond belief from owning the only evil oil exporting harber in N Africa.

Must....replace.....strong.....dictators.   Must.....divide.....and....conquer.  Must....remain....only.....superpower.

I watched a report about two months back about the rebels in Syria. These 'rebels' are walking down a street with weapons and an unarmed local old guy comes out and harangues them in front of the Australian camera crew. He basically told the rebels to fuck-off and take their killing spree elsewhere and to stop destroying their towns and homes. He was a brave guy but I don't know if he was still breathing 24 hours later.

And within that same ABC 4-Corners report a local man in his 30s approached the rebels, mistakenly thinking they're Syrian Army, and reports the location of rebel forces within the town. Again, in front on the Australian camera crew. So the rebels informed him he had made a little error of judgement, and you see him being immediately lead off into a building. An observer that went in with them said the guy was then brutally tortured for several hours, before the observer left the building.

This is what the Syrian people think of these 'free' Syrian army arseholes, they clearly wanted the Syrian Army to eradicate the rebels from their streets and towns.
