Biggest Social Media Sites Censor Alternative News

censorship on Social Networking Biggest Social Media Sites Censor Alternative News

The mainstream media skews the news to defend the status quo, and serves the interests of the rich and powerful.

But at least web news sources are free of censorship … one would hope.

Unfortunately, that’s not true.

Facebook pays low-wage foreign workers to delete certain content based upon a censorship list. For example, Facebook deletes accounts created by any Palestinian resistance groups.

Digg was caught censoring stories which were controversial or too critical of the government. See this and this.

Many accuse Youtube of blatant censorship.

Reddit – the 133rd most popular website worldwide on the Internet – is also censoring.

I’m not talking about censoring specific websites (For example, I was informed today that Reddit’s News category censors all stories from this website.  But that’s just an example).  I’m talking about censoring entire categories of news media.

Specifically, Reddit’s WorldNews category has 2.5 million subscribers.  Most tv news shows have less than 2.5 million daily viewers. So that means that Reddit’s WorldNews is itself a mainstream media source in terms of numbers.  And many more people see WorldNews stories on the front page of Reddit, even if they are not subscribers to the WorldNews subreddit.

(Reddit is owned by the 46th largest company in the United States – Advance Publications – which owns a number of mainstream newspapers and magazines.)

Yet WorldNews censors blogs, and doesn’t consider them real news sources.  Here’s a discussion I had recently with WorldNews moderators:

Clipboard02 Biggest Social Media Sites Censor Alternative News

[Click for larger image.]

In fact, the top independent experts in every field – economics, business, foreign affairs, military, science, energy, etc. – have their own blogs, making blogs one of the best sources of information, a good way to fact-check the mainstream news, and the best way to read the experts’ insights direct and unfiltered.  See this, this and this.

Indeed, the whole reason that news blogs have become popular is that they get around the censorship which is ubiquitous in the mainstream television news. And social media is popular as a news source - especially among youth - because it pretends that it provides uncensored news, where a free market of popularity governs.

That’s obviously not the case, where specific websites – and entire classes of media, such as blogs – are barred.

Reddit holds itself out as a young, hip, progressive news source.  But if it is censoring blogs, it fails to live up to any of these claims.

The government already censors and manipulates social media. More proof here and here.

It is sad that the moderators of the social media sites themselves are doing the same thing.

I don't know what I could write that was worth censoring.

I wrote on Yahoo Comments that,

The reason that Congressmen pay millions to get elected to office so that they can receive a check for a few hundred thousand per year is not that strange at all.

Congressmen do this so they can make the phone calls to their corporate sponsors on Bills that may pass. Of course with the information they give, the corporations stand to make Multi-Millions. Then the Corporations pay a little into the Congressmen's Blind Trusts for the inside info.

They cut me off from posting for two weeks because of that. I do not understand why.

Of course today I wrote about that little girl harassed by the TSA.

The TSA did a great job!!! They caught that filthy, dirty little girl for not washing her hands after using the Toilet. Good. The Urea Content in Urine is a Nitrate that will swab POSITIVE. (Nitrates are used in most explosives.)     We need to catch and incarcerate EVERYONE who does not wash their hands. The Agents need to be commended for their actions. Who knows what Germs that they saved the passengers from.     Toilet Safety Administration...I have got to hand it to you.

I don't know why they delete  posts like this. I expect to be purged again.

The answer is in the previous post: an 'american' has to justify his paycheck.

It can also invite traffick. But censoring an innocuous comment, he instilled controversy. And controversy sells. A good Internet rage is good for traffick. Some guys might have picked up on that deletion, raged and started a flame war.

'American' economics is all about consumption.

You missed my sarcasm...

People do not want to read that which disturbs their delusion. The censors are not just "paycheck oriented". They actually are Human Beings subject to the same delusions as the masses. When they read something which challenges their core beliefs then they do their best to supress it as it is too painful to confront or allow.

Now I received Four Positives from the Motley Crew that reads this alternative source of information. Many here have taken the proverbial "Red Pill" and see the charade for what it is.

As for the Yahoo posts nobody was given any opportunity to start a "Flame War" because the posts were not allowed to be published in the first place. When I checked to see if the posts were made public then I found then to be non-existent. So I attempted to repost on many numerous occasions and they did not publish.

I understand that some of my reports are so controversial that the editors do not even allow the public to read them or negatively rate them.

The party line on the Girl who wiped her tush and did not wash her hands was that she "may have been exposed to Chicken Droppings." That is the story that the editors want the public to believe. My assertion makes a lot more sense. Also the editors, in their infinite wisdom, believed that I am exposing a "National Secret" when I wrote that the Swabs react with Nitrates.

"Well all a terrorist has to do is wash their hands? Now how will we catch them if they know that?" might be their line of reasoning.  The SAD TRUTH is that if a terrorist is Hell bent upon destruction there is nothing that can be done to stop them. Of course the entire TSA was created out of the ruse that there is an actual threat. It is a hysterical knee jerk reaction by a bunch of frightened Americans whom believe that Government action is somehow a panacea which it is not.

There are just too many soft targets for terrorists to choose from. Since these are not or have not been exploited, then one can REST ASSURED that Terrorism in the USA is at a MINIMAL RISK. The expenditures to prevent it,  with the corresponding losses of Civil Liberties, are blown way out of proportion to ANY ACTUAL THREAT. This is not a result of any Government intervention whatsoever. Few are out there with the intent to harm others.

Many of those previously defined Americans,  the ones whom are irrationally assessing the threat, the ones whom erroneously believe that Government is a panacea, are occupying the jobs that actively censor posts.

It is not just the one comment which I wrote that concerns them. I have wrote that they hand you aluminum canned drinks AFTER you have boarded. The Aluminum Cans can be ripped in two which creates a slashing weapon as sharp as any Box Cutter. I have exposed that the Government is INEFFECTIVE.

All of the pre boarding "Security Measures" are for image and lack any substance or credibility. Now the Government and the Corporations profitting from this nonsense do not want the public to know how absolutely ineffective the measures are.

The Government, itself, responded to the first publication of that exposure (posted on a National Rocketry Association Forum Blog) by Strip Searching me and having an Air Marshall assigned to me when I next flew. Of course when I requested the same drinks, IN ALUMINUM CANS, from the stewardess she served me. The Air Marshall, the stewardess, nor anyone else on that airplane had no clue whatsoever why I am supposedly such  a "dangerous character".

As a disclosure I have not ever hurt anyone in my life. I am not a Felon. The only "crime" I have ever been charged with and convicted for is Misdemeanor Marijuana Possession, over 30 years ago. My college roommates plants were popped by the dorm personnel. While I played a little in College. er...a lot, I do not have the time to smoke that crap presently. I GREW UP

Of course I have repeated that story on Yahoo as well as other websites. Yahoo takes it down as well as other sites.

It is not just about the money. It is about the control.

Though deserving of no such respect, the higher standards of ZH commentary demand an even-handed approach to dealing with our nefarious AnAnonymous Han contributor... therefore I will provide some notes from ground level on this topic of scatological fascination...there has been a complete absence of roadside shitting so far during this observers' 'Sino-sojourn" - indeed, I have to say that standards of personal hygiene appear to be as high as any of the western world, even the public toilets are a miracle of cleanliness...and the public spaces in general are kept at an immaculate level which the increasingly run-down stateside services can only dream of providing now.. ON THE OTHER HAND... this nuisance of Great FireWall of China throttled internet connections(Tor is disabled by means of packet splitting) is an inexcusable form of public pollution which stinks of HanBigBrotherism , every bit as anti-social and true to it's eternal nature as Aa's verbal diahrrea, and for which our Chinese critic of "Americanism" must be personally held accountable, as he holds Merikans accountable for their ism...

if the universe were a holographic fractal it would mean nothing could be calculated to certainty, you can only get "close enough that it registers a measurable effect" (measureable effect! it sounds crazy in this context - acopy, of a copy, of a copy)

the poets lie too much

even truth-obsessed madmen, with a lantern in the marketplace at dawn lie too much - it's inevitable that we never get it right

thats why there is something magical about music or the art you do WB7, and art in general - it somehow captures the quantum structure with an elegant pattern - like "the Sybil, who, uttering unadorned, un-incensed words with raving mouth, reaches out a thousand years through the god"
