People much smarter about this stuff than me, say that collapse is inevitable. I have enough knowledge and common sense to agree with that. We are past the peak of a very long cycle. Collapse? The question is not whether, but when.
When it does happen, those who know about it say we will have to construct a whole new monetary system.

What I am saying is not a threat or a warning. It is simple history. This will not be the first fall and it won't be the last.
The experience of national catharsis which occurs when corrupt state regimes are finally tossed is nothing new. It happened all over Central Europe less than two decades ago it is happening all over the Middle East.
Some of the corrupt will be pardoned in the interest of national healing. Others will be punished in many different ways, not necessarily violent. Loss of accumulated wealth and status is also nothing new.
In this day and age, tyrants and crony thieves can no longer run and hide. They know it. Imagine what the Facebook hunt will look like.
Now if TPTB wanted to avoid this kind of scenario, they would exercise restraint and do the necessary to rebalance priorities in a more fair and equitable manner.
But we have seen they are incapable of this. It is just not in their nature.
That is the Tragedy of the Commons.
