censorship on Social Networking Facebook Censors Prominent Political Critics

We’ve previously documented that the largest social media websites censor government criticism.

For example, Facebook pays low-wage foreign workers to delete certain content based upon a censorship list. For example, Facebook deletes accounts created by any Palestinian resistance groups.

Today, Facebook deactivated the Facebook accounts of some of the leading American political critics.

For example, former diplomat and U.C. Berkeley Professor Emeritus Peter Dale Scott told us that his Facebook account was suddenly deactivated today without any justification.

So did Richard Gage, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

And Michael Rivero, owner of the popular website What Really Happened.

Infowars – one of the world’s most popular alternative media sites – confirms that accounts for the following political commentators have been shut down:

  • Kurt Nimmo, writer for Infowars.com and formerly Counterpunch
  • Aaron Dykes of Infowars
  • Jason from Infowars
  • Infowar Artist

Indeed, Facebook told an Infowars reporter last year not to post anything political:

Be careful making about making political statements on facebook … facebook is about building relationships not a platform for your political viewpoint. Don’t antagonize your base. Be careful and congnizat (sic) of what you are preaching.

And Infowars also confirms that the Facebook account for Natural News – one of the most popular alternative health sites – has been shut down.

Reports are that the Facebook accounts of a number of other political critics were suspended or deactivated today as well, including:

  • Robert M. Bowman, former director of the “Star Wars” defense program under President Ronald Reagan
  • Anthony J. Hilder, popular radio host
  • William Lewis
  • Wacboston
  • Michael Murphy
  • Mike Skuthan
  • Packy Savvenas
  • Sean Wright and Katherine Albrect

We'll update this post as we receive additional information.

Not a bad idea! It's definitely doable to develop a social network site under the GNU licence. The hard part is getting the site popular. So one would need to design the site to be better than facebook.

Yes, Minion?

Well, your satan-ness, they appear to be using secret code words: "moar, Bit-Chez, and Internets."

Keep up the good work. Bring me another chalice of blood, too.

Yes, your evilness.

I don't know, now that it's deleting controversial FB users a big fat stimulus may be forthcoming from DC.

As of an hour ago, the only mainline news story covering it had 24 facebook likes.

This can only be considered as a possible pre-emptive propaganda tactic to neutralize the statists' opponents in what appears to be a New Year's full-scale infowar on the Second Amendment which by extension and natural connection will involve intentional and no less concomitant attempts in reducing the First Amendment.

Nice heads up.

Dear friends,

Facebook sucks.

Dr. Sandi's picture

Nothing in Merkin culture can be a widespread as Facebook without being toadies to our owners. I don't see what the outrage is. Facebook is what it is.

Anybody who is in any way surprised by the stupidification of the place probably needs to buy a vowel.

Yes be aware of what you preach...God forbid; your friends may not like you if they find out the truth about you!
Boycott fascistbook!

You left off the purging of Second Amendment activist accounts.

I almost wish I had a f#ckbook account so I could CANCEL it!

Eat Me, F*ckerberg, you Khazar Lackey!

You have to know THEY are coming for our gunz because THEY fear us.

Pretty soon the propaganda will be so bad they will have NAMBLA Against Gunz, Rapists Against Gunz, Burglarz Against Gunz and Cereal Killerz Against Gunz demonstrations.

Senor Banzaii, please fight back against these poltroons with your Art!

facebook is evil and if you use it you are being tracked and monitored, like HAL it even feeds on its own

and if you think that ZH will be here next month.next year cause it is its own independent website thing again if BAC can block it and if the Chinese can block half the internet it would not take much for ZH or similar to be deemed an economic terrorism threat, moreover your ISP will gladly provide the NSA with details of who exactly zer0head is along with Trav et. al.

Think about how quick Twitter is  to shut down an offending account of course offensive is in the eyes of the algo

i have a funny feeling ZeroHedge will find its way back to life even if it gets killed

they cant stop the signal

people, Nature: FINDS A WAY

lakecity55's picture

Think about it. In all my time at ZH, nobody has ever seriously threatened illegal violence.

If THEY are so scared of us they have to "track" us, then we are in worse shape than I thought.

I know from histroy that such Regimes always fall from their own perfidy.

Tommy Gunner's picture

Well... I have on numerous occassions suggested that those with automatic weapon rage turn their guns on the truly deserving - those on Wall Street instead of innocent school children

the grateful unemployed's picture

there is no such thing as illegal violence.

monad's picture

Even if you don't have anything to do with it it tracks you. Using any Firefox cookie anal-izer pointed at most websites you'll find FB tracking you through the ads.

John_Coltrane's picture

Just download ghostery and you'll be free of trackers forever.  I'm blocking 7 of 7 of them on this site right now.  And use a VPN if you don't want your ISP to be able to track your connections-all they will be able to provide is the ISP of the VPN which is likely located in Burmuda or some other island.  Taking it further, use anonymous email with public/private key encryption.  Store your emails in encrpted form.  I'm amazed at the number of public people who don't do this.   Use truecrypt to encrypte all your senstive files, especially financial data.  Be paranoid-they (.gov) are out to get you-but they aren't very smart or tech savvy.

lakecity55's picture

Here is a good Firefox Google-Killer App:

Also, keep checking your cookie things. I have only a few sites enabled to allow cookies.

I am also using some other tricks I learned in IT, but I won't go nto those.  You can easily find some good stuff on the internets.

Good Hunting, all, and....

Keep Stackin!

Lake and Monad,

That's what we need more of people suggesting things to escape from the demons trolling intelligent people with an opinion. +1

The only worthwhile use for it is to post political news to counter lamestream propaganda. The people who own The Fed have bought or bought off the big names in media (and many small ones too).

it will be fortunate for you to remember the saying of quotation from chairman Tsu Ga Berg: "as for criticism, do it in good time"

Who in their right mind even cares about Facebook, Twitter and the like?
Ego, insecurity and false pride serve as the motivating factors.

"Hi Mom, sorry I haven't made it to the hospital, I know you're dying but I've been so busy.  Thinking about you while I take a poop.  XO Dimwit"

jballz's picture

god there is nothing funnier than a comment troll dissing facebook.

You know what the difference is? This site says zerohedge in the browser window and facebook says "facebook".

Also you may actually have a human encounter with a person on your facebook page.. Not likely but possible.

Other than that, any difference is entirely in your imagination. Everything you do or say here is recorded, you are being pimped for ad revenue by anonymous strangers, and you are blathering to feed your ego or whatever other meaningless psychobabble you attribute to facebook users.

The censorship...well that's new. But either way you can kill yourself and nobody cares.

Dr. Sandi's picture

One massive difference between ZH and Facebook is quite glaring. Nobody posts their home address, personal bio or pictures of their genitals on ZH. (Generally anyway)

As a result, I have never heard of anybody being hunted down at home by vigilantes or stalkers or even the poleece for talkin' trash on Zero Hedge.

Bob's picture

Say it ain't so!  Could this be why my comments are often not visible when I'm not logged in . . . i.e., I'm not part of the "public face" ZH presents to the world of unregistered users?

Nah, couldn't be--this is Fight Club, right?

It's good to know you can trust somebody in this cold, cynical world.

if you don't mind .. maybe an example or two that appear only to someone who is logged in
