The madness continues, except in a more insidious way. We don't have the 'face' of a tyrant just a collection of people, groups, companies and interests loosely working together to control everything. It'll get to the point where the people wake up and realise it is too late. The worst part is I don't think there is a conspiracy to turn the USA into a police state. Instead it is just an organic process, moving at a snail's pace, piece by piece...
And of course each step closer to a police state is explained away and nearly everyone thinks that is okay and accepts these explanations. Keep posting away Banzai! Awareness of the situation is the last thing they (government, companies in the known, elites, and so forth) want.
Agreed, the changes are incremental. I've lived long enough to see a tremendous contrast from when I was a child. Socially, and economically. Most of the younger generations have little historical perspective, and the older generations feel they have too much of a vested interest to rock the boat. This is "normal" to them, with little that perceptibly changes their lives. The majority of people I talk to about things like CISPA don't give a shit, because they can't see how it could effect them personally. When what they consider necessities are impacted, the situation becomes intolerable. If I picture the U.S.'s future, it seems more likely that we'll continue to experience many small events (ie.,supply bottlenecks, isolated civil unrest), instead of a complete systemic failure over a few days. If the causes of the near banking collapse coming to light, and subsequent bailout did'nt bring about a widespread demand for a change in the status quo, what the hell will? Unfortunately, CISPA is'nt even a blip on the screen for most Americans.

No you pay their taxes, because otherwise they will come and throw your ass in prison. They are not your taxes, if they were they would be at an agreed upon rate that you contracted with them at.

practitioners. it is the thinking that you can responsibly

you can see this played out on the road as people regularly and
unconsciously drive while texting, talking on the phone or,
in the morning, applying their face paint/make up.
note: rolling a cigarette is different. once mastered, rolling cigarettes
while driving is actually good for your driving safety and skill
development. reading is a bit more problematic as is attempting to navigate
your route via the hagstrom.
