Yesterday two things happened in North Carolina:
1. BAC held it's Annual Meeting in Charlotte and over the howling protests of an angry mob, including irate shareholders, awarded an obscene bonus package to a CEO totally undeserving of same for a myriad of reasons, including his intimate involvement in the creation of America's Mother of All TBTF shit lockers.
2. The people of North Carolina, in their infinite wisdom of the meaning of privacy and personal liberty, decided to pass a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.
As a result, Barrack Obamney announced his support of same sex marriage and Mitt Obamney voiced his continued opposition. The line has been drawn in the sand.
Those naive enough to think the withdrawal of Rick Saint Moron would clear the way for a rational rather than religious public debate of the reasons behind the sad state of the American economy, will be sadly disappointed.
The same sex marriage issue will generate an abundance of distraction running straight into the Democratic Convention, which will be held...where else?
In Charlotte.
So which city gets rewarded with the substantial economic shot of the Democratic Convention? BAC Gay Basher Town USA.

What a silly debate. "Gay Marriage". Um....o.k. How about we define Gay Divorce first; who gets the house? The dog/cats? Alimony? Who is the male/female, who is the top/bottom, does one get to pay to live in a one-bedroom apartment and pay his/her "Wife" to have dates with other people in the old home? I'm sure the American Bar Association supports Gay Marriage because they are going to make a killing on all the new Divorce cases.
The simple fact is there is no way the TPTB will allow the narrative to focus on what the real issues are. Anything to divert the mob from matters of substance.

I couldn't agree more. When the state declares what is and what isn't "marriage", it has crossed the bounderies of the seperation of church and state. As a christian, I could care less if the state wishes to allow unions between people and trees, dogs and cats or sun and moon, so what? It's the state's' right to do so.
On the other hand, a person's religious conviction allows one the right to pass judgement as to the right-ness or wrong-ness of individual conduct. This is a voluntary and subjective placement of values that individuals in the US have been guaranteed the right to assess as one sees fit.
This is the crux of "political correctness" and where it errs, imo. "Marriage" is by definition a religious ordination defining a holy sacrament administered by the church. Most bible accepting believers further recognize it as between one man and one woman. And even if a "christian" believes otherwise, that person is at liberty to associate with others of like or otherwise minded persons. That's the beauty of freedom.
The state however, does have the right to recognize unions. It can decide how they're formed and how they are dissolved. "Marriage" however is reserved as a relationship whereby "God joins together". Last time I checked, (s)elected officials did not possess divine attributes, much to their disappointment though, I'm sure.
Keep the state out of the church if one is to expect the church to stay out of the statehouse.
