Congress Is Less Popular than Cockroaches, Lice, Root Canals, Colonoscopies, Traffic Jams, Used Car Salesmen or Genghis Khan

George Washington's picture

We’ve previously noted that Congress is less popular among Americans than Communism, BP during the Gulf oil spill, Nixon during Watergate or King George during the American Revolution.

Public Policy Polling has a new poll out showing that Congress is less popular than:

  • Cockroaches
  • Lice
  • Root Canals
  • Colonoscopies
  • Traffic Jams
  • Used Car Salesmen
  • or Genghis Khan

The poll did not examine whether – as in China – politicians are viewed as less trustworthy than prostitutes.   But given that regulators sleep with industry-bought prostitutes, it is hard to tell where one ends and the other starts.

Postscript:  Obviously, my comparison of politicians with prostitutes is not factually correct, is over-the-top, unfair and offensive.  We extend a sincere apology … to the “professional” women.

Politicians are not prostitutes … they are in fact pimps.

The voters sell votes for Favors from their CONgress person and all the other elected Great Ones.

It's still better than having a King & his royal court, or have we gotten ourselves many kings?

We have a Congress because lobbyists cannot enact legislation by themselves and yes, that is pathetic...

I see the US government and perhaps all governments playing out a giant Stanford prison experiment, with the one exception being the fact that most prisoners have no clue that they indeed are... Prisoners.

Hard times to be a servant to the 'american' middle class.

'Americans' run a business of extorting the weak, farming the poor.

They adopt adequate behaviours as such.

It is very common for a pimp to despize prostitutes, drugs dealers drug addicts etc

Yet pimps, drugs dealers live off prostitutes, drugs addicts...

'Americans', same behaviours.

Dont feel for the 'american' servants, they learned the lesson a long time ago and know how to help themselves to compensate for the lack of gratefulness shown by their 'american' master, the 'american' middle class.

congressional representation is sent to washington
as a stud but arrives as a mule because their function
is to increase the debt of those they represent, and they
do that, while them that sent them, and they themselves,
do not know the difference between issuing money and
borrowing money. i think it is that simple and should
be obvious to anyone paying attention.
whatever. they are pimps of usury

Why so unpopular? Because a long time ago they abandoned Constitution.

If they had stayed within the limits of the Constitution, we, the People would not be in such a hell of a mess.

TSA gropee's picture

"Because a long time ago they abandoned Constitution." I believe it to be more basic than that. An abandonement of moral absolutes. No longer does a handshake seal a deal or the expectation that someone will be true to their word. We are a society that has become "me" centric and seems to trump any concern or wellbeing for another. Just my humble opinion.

Why do we keep sending the same people back?

Part of this seeming contradiction is that the Lion's share of criticism is directed at the "Congress," an abstraction, rather than named individuals. The collective "Congress" is a convenience that allows us to identify the problem but it does little to suggest a solution. Voters can continue to think (if they think at all) that the Congressmen from the other states and districts should be tossed out, but not their own.  How often have you heard your own Congressman criticized for his support of a pork barrel bill or other unpopular legislation?  Not very often and not always.

I submit that if the opinion of their Congressman were taken of voters in each district, the result would be quite different than the one reported here.

It' s a conundrum.

CH1's picture

Why do we keep sending the same people back?

It's simple:

  1. The parties only provide you with two choices, Garbage A and Garbage B.
  2. The incumbent can spend more money.
  3. Conditioning works, and they are good at it. So long as you watch TV, you'll get sucked into their game. Eat their poison and they win.

And so it goes, without end, no matter how bad they are. As long as people remain plugged into the Matrix, they will consistently act like morons.

So, if there's term limits and I take part in "Representative Democracy" through electoral politics, the person will actually represent me this time because there's term limits? Pfffft.

I could vote for someone to represent me, but they never will, because they're not me!

wonderatitall's picture

because these reps of the people are distributed and everyone who has access to a tv wants a specific outcome , everyone hates someone. since tv is wholly owned by the national socialist democrat peoples party everyone who is not a obama worshipper hates everyone. democrats just hate everyone who believes they have a right to anything that the democrat want. repubs are useless spineless cretins, so everyone on both sides hate them. mr washington here makes constant assertions about things he is always wrong about and i hate him. that sums up nicely.

split the country up. half hates the other half and the half that leans to dictatorship, the democrats hate everyone else. but at least we can all agree on one thing, we all hate the joooooos.

doesnt washington write in the weekly world news?

I have visited in the past various parliaments around the world, Washington,Ottawa, Buenos Aires,London, Kiev, Taipei Tokyo. I refuse to visit the showcase parliaments in police states. When I used to live in Washington, DC in the 1980s I could walk right up to the capital building at night and look out upon the Mall. Today that is impossible, it is an armed camp with police everywhere. Airport type security.

If you pay a prostitute, she will screw you the way you want.  You will pay Congress whether you wish to or not, and then they will screw you the way the majority voted for, not only not the way you wanted, but not even the way you voted for.

The first person to die while taking out an Obama brownshirt brigade that busts down the door to seize a gun will be a national hero (after the revolution and restoration of the constitutional republic).  The DHS is no match for about 80 million good pissed off good ol' boys.

First that's not a sound strategy. Second, how do you think this story would get out? The hand's media will make sure you think some nut blew away 7 y.o. children, not any political targets. Third, they are just willing or ignorant agents of the hand, just props to pacify the herds. They are decoys, not ducks.

willwork4food's picture

the media will make sure you think some nut blew away 7 y.o. children.

I've thought of that often, in fact everything you said is true. Even so, when a person has had enough of the bullshit, they will not care what paid decoy they are killing, and won't give a rat's ass if they say anything bad about them.

There's a wanted FBI bank robber all over the news here. He robbed at least 3 banks successfully without hurting anyone-and got away. They want us to bring him in for a $1000 reward (potential).

Fuck the reward, if I saw the dude I'd buy him a drink.

Please don't insult prostitutes by comparing them to Members of Congress. Prostitutes actually do an honest day's (or night's) work.

That's because you're on top of the one, cooperatively, while beneath the other, coercively, humanity hanging in the balance, the more so every day.

There is fucking, in other words, and there is being fucked. And there is literally a world of difference between the two.
