U.S. Government Claims – Just Like the Nazis – that the Truth Is Too Complicated and Dangerous to Disclose to the Public

JUS IN BELLO Will War Criminals Ever Be Prosecuted?JUS IN BELLO 2.0 Will War Criminals Ever Be Prosecuted?2nd and 3rd Image by William Banzai 7

In the classic history of Nazi Germany, They Thought They Were Free, Milton Mayer writes:

"What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. And their sense of identification with Hitler, their trust in him, made it easier to widen this gap and reassured those who would otherwise have worried about it.

"This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter.

Similarly, America has - little by little - gone from a nation of laws to a nation of powerful men making laws in secret.  Indeed, even Congress doesn't know half of what others are doing.

Secretive, unaccountable agencies are making life and death decisions which effect our most basic rights.  They provide "secret evidence"  to courts which cannot be checked ... and often withhold any such "evidence" even from the judges.  For example:

"I find myself stuck in a paradoxical situation in which I cannot solve a problem because of contradictory constraints and rules — a veritable Catch-22," the judge wrote. "I can find no way around the thicket of laws and precedents that effectively allow the Executive Branch of our Government to proclaim as perfectly lawful certain actions that seem on their face incompatible with our Constitution and laws, while keeping the reasons for their conclusion a secret."

The government uses "secret evidence" to spy on Americans, prosecute leaking or terrorism charges (even against U.S. soldiers) and even assassinate people.

And the government goes after whistleblowers ... and reporters who say too much (and see this).

U.S. government spokesmen pretend - just as the Nazis - that:

  • The situation is so complicated that the government has to act on information which the people could not understand
  • It is so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security

As FireDogLake notes:

Like the iron fist of the Nazis ... Americans must submit to “roving surveillance” and warrantless searches, without the requirement of a Judge’s authorization. Surveillance laws are part of a larger arsenal of weapons against political dissidents and whistle blowers.

Most Americans don’t know the Patriot Act authorizes secret charges relying on secret evidence and secret grand jury statements. Under the Patriot Act, Americans have no right to know who has accused them of what criminal activities, or the dates of the alleged offense.

They’re not even told what law was broken. The government has power to lock up Americans on military bases or other prisons without a hearing or trial. We can be detained indefinitely without any rights of due process at all.

All of this happened in Germany - as in America today - because the governments whipped up so much fear of attack by demonizing the enemy and declaring an open-ended war that people became complacent and stopped thinking for themselves.

As Mayer notes about Nazi Germany, people were too apathetic or scared to stand up for others:

Pastor Niemöller spoke for the thousands and thousands of men like me when he spoke (too modestly of himself) and said that, when the Nazis attacked the Communists, he was a little uneasy, but, after all, he was not a Communist, and so he did nothing; and then they attacked the Socialists, and he was a little uneasier, but, still, he was not a Socialist, and he did nothing; and then the schools, the press, the Jews, and so on, and he was always uneasier, but still he did nothing. And then they attacked the Church, and he was a Churchman, and he did something—but then it was too late."

The same is true in modern America.

Mayer points out:

"You see," my colleague went on, "one doesn’t see exactly where or how to move. Believe me, this is true. Each act, each occasion, is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join with you in resisting somehow. You don’t want to act, or even talk, alone; you don’t want to ‘go out of your way to make trouble.’ Why not?—Well, you are not in the habit of doing it. And it is not just fear, fear of standing alone, that restrains you; it is also genuine uncertainty.

***

"But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.

The same is happening to Americans today.  Indeed, the American government appears to be following the Nazi playbook.  The U.S. government - like the SS - may label anyone who disagrees with government policy as crazy or a potential terrorist ... and is claiming more tyrannical powers that even Hitler claimed.

If you think we're exaggerating, just listen to what the prosecutors who convicted the Nazis of war crimes say ...

Benjamin Ferencz - a former chief prosecutor for the Nuremberg Trials against the Nazis - declared:

A prima facie case can be made that the United States is guilty of the supreme crime against humanity — that being an illegal war of aggression against a sovereign nation.

See this, this, and this.  In addition, he said:

[A Nuremberg defendant said that he didn't feel bad for killing children and other innocent people]  "because we relied on the head of state, Hitler. He had more information than I had, and he told us that the Soviets planned to attack, so it was necessary in presumed self-defense."

***

It's very disappointing to find that my government today is prepared to do something for which we hanged Germans as war criminals.

Another Nuremberg prosecutor, Henry King, Jr., said that the Guantanamo trials violate the Nuremberg principles and Geneva Convention.

Allowing medical experimentation on prisoners certainly violates the Nuremberg principles.   And leading constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley notes that the government is violating the Nuremberg principles by failing to punish those who created our recent policy of torture.

Note 1:  Fascism also happened in Nazi Germany because the taxpayers became responsible for the debts of big corporations, and the corporate sector and authoritarian government worked hand-in-glove.  The same is happening in the U.S. right now.

Note 2: For Dems who assume that things improved after Bush, please note that a former Obama security adviser says that Obama is as "ruthless and indifferent to rule of law" as Bush. And see this.

Aurel Kolnai's "The War Against the West" provides tremendous detail on the pseudo-religion of national socialism.

The German interpretation of "socialism" is particularly interesting.

I don't think it is constructive to scapegoat Russians or Jews.  The US has problems that need to be solved through facing them and that requires new leadership.

For the last time, there was no holocaust, no six million dead jews, no gas chambers. The concentration camps were labor camps. People did die in them - from disease and from starvation as the war came to an end. But 50 million others in Europe and Russia died from the bombing. Why are the imaginary deaths of six million jews more important than the real deaths of 50 million Europeans or Russians?

The extermination of Jews by Nazi Germany is a historical fact. It was not however a single event or series of events, nor was the extermination limited to Jews. The term holocaust post dates the War and is a registered trade mark of Zionist propagandists, a narrative sold to the sheeple to rewrite history and gain support for the various Zionist wars and  neo-con policies.

There were and are many more victims of WWII, mostly silent, who would oppose the agenda of the Holocaust narrative propagandists.

Thats because they used the high volume summer train timetables to calculate the number, most historians make the figure at 3-5 million max, which doesnt make it any better but at least they could get their facts right, and yes i have been there and to me it doesnt matter how many died its the idea that they nazis thought they could succeed that i abhor.

Funny story, while in krakow we watched luftwaffe tornados flying over poland to bomb serb militia's doing ethnic cleansing, so the germans appear to have learnt their lesson on genocide.

Shame it took a world war for us to learn the lesson.

PS,

Stalin killed 3 million people in 38' nobdy gave a toss then.

Mao killed 10 million by starvation, nobody invaded china.

Plus, from a simple logical perspective, if they were running crematoriums non stop, day and night, for years, they still could not have "burned" that amount of people. Not only that but during war you ration FUEL - who in their right mind would piss fuel away for something like that? Ever seen some REAL interviews from some at the camps? They talk about how some had pools, and recreation, music, etc. Say propaganda all you want, but why take one side and not look at what the Soviets and Allies also were trying to push. One wonders if there is a lot of really serious distractionary stuff being purposely ramped up that may preclude most human beings ability to simply look up, and wonder. Most camps had been destroyed. The Soviets, et al, rebuilt them on what they thought they should have looked like. People died in the camps, but that was due to the Allies bombing the supply rails. So, it was a decision to feed the troops or POW's, a no brainer when involved in war. Yes, they did burn some people, and even mass graves, but these people died from starvation and this was the most sanitary proposition to keep disease from spreading.

Brutal and inhumane, you mean like when the Jewish State has small children writing propaganda on bombs used to shell Gaza? Or the interment of US CITIZENS during WWII, or the use of nukes on humans, fire bombings, spraying neighborhoods during the cold war here in Amerika with radioactive particles, and other bio weapons to see how the general public reacts? In my opinion the severe nature of questioning the "Holocaust" is motivated by a select group. Hitler DISPISED the bankers of the time due to the Treaty of Versailles and the amount of money that was needed to pay back, which actually lead to the Weimar Republic. Hitler comes along and starts by increasing manufacturing and starts to TRADE commods, NOT CURRENCY. This pissed off the bankers - which pushed the war machine AGAINST the Germans. In fact, the Germans had NO WAY OUT when it came to the "invasion of Poland" which was actually orchestrated by England. Whether Hitler invaded or not, it was going to be the same outcome, so they basically took their chances. The bankers controlled the situation and tried to tell the German people HOW they were to live, even up to the point of MISERY (Weimar Republic) - then got pissed when the German people said to hell with you, you don't control us...

Which brings us to today. Why the outrage when you question the event? Because its all about MONEY and CONTROL. The Jewish State was paid BILLIONS in reparations from WWII, some 70 years later. How long can you squeeze a turnip? So select groups quash any questioning because if people started to ask REAL questions or have doubts the money tit would dry up... make people feel guilty, feed them a line of BS, and they will be more than happy to "pay"...

That's a really twisted interpretation of history right there.  Yes, the facts of the Weimar Republic lead directly to the rise of Adolf Hitler, but all along the way, the German people cheered him on and made disastrous choices at each step.  That has a kind of familiar ring to it, I can't quite place it, Ooooh yeah, the cult of personality around Obama who is about to see if he can set the US on fire by banning guns by executive fiat.

No, its not a twisted interpretation. Yes, the people were desperate. However, if you would do real research you would realize that the England provoked the entire war at the behest of the banking machine.

You will not find a whole lot on the web, unless you REALLY look around. There has always been a push to scrub this stuff or kick it to the last page of a 4 billion page return on Google. Look at the Nuremberg transcripts, etc. If it was so cut and dry why are people lambasted for questioning it? Why are Germans, and most Europeans to this day FORBIDDEN to question it? I look at things from a logical perspective and make decisions based on that, but I ALWAYS keep an open mind... Things, many times, are not what they seem.

Purely anecdotal,

While visiting Auschwitz my brain could handle the small camp with stone buildings but when i saw the larger camp my emotions shut down and my brain prevented me from comprehending the extent of it, right after that we were swamped by israeli teens running loose around auschwitz with 4ft israeli of david flags showing (IMHO) massive disrespect and ignorance to the people who died there.

If the israeli/jewish govt sent those teens there to learn the 'lesson' of Auschwitz they failed apallingly.

Right you are.  But why are people in Europe sentenced to years in jail for investigatigating the documentation?  One was jailed for translating a document.  David Irving was acclaimed as one of the best World War II writers -- until he touched the holocaust.  He was jailed too, of course.  Something fishy in all that.

It's not because of some grand conspiracy, it's because the German people still feel very raw about the topic to this day.  They don't want folks grandstanding on holocaust denial and making even bigger fools out of the German people than they already are/were. They have a huge inferiority complex over it, and maybe that is as it should be, but the succeeding generations should be free of it as they were not even born at the time, and that is unfair to them.

Thanks, an excellent article. I think the caption on the very first image "its not fascism when we do it" exactly sums up where we are today. As you rightly describe, fascism under Hitler, Mussolini and others was not introduced overnight. It never is. It was a co-ordinated step-by-step planned behind closed doors, with every turn of the screw superficially justified as being necessary in the nation's/peoples' best interests. It rarely was. But there were plenty of people who bought into the lies and propaganda garbage and provided support for what was going on, believing they might gain.

Today, we have virtually the whole of MSM and countless Establishment talking heads (almost all with vested interests) willingly disseminating the lies and propaganda, never questioning government policies and actions even when they know the Rule of Law is being trashed.

By the time ordinary citizens come out of their comas and wake up to see the New Normal society they're living in, it will be way too late to stop it without serious civil conflict.
