The Twelve Steps

hedgeless_horseman's picture

The Twelve Steps

  1. We came to understand that our government is powerless over its spending - that our nation's debt had become unmanageable.
  2. We came to believe that a power greater than our fiat currency could restore us to sanity.
  3. We made a decision to turn our savings and our investments over to the care of gold, as we understand gold to be a physical asset - not a paper promise.
  4. We made a searching and fearless inventory of our wealth.
  5. We converted to gold, to Krugerrands, and to Maple Leafs, the fiat paper assets of our wealth, thus eliminating our counterparties.
  6. We were entirely ready to have gold remove all risk of default.
  7. We humbly asked the coin dealer to reduce our exposure to The Inflation Tax.
  8. We made a list of those politicians that expose us to The Inflation Tax, and became willing to work against them all.
  9. We gave direct support to Libertarians whenever possible, except when no Libertarian is on the ballot, and then we voted against the incumbent.
  10. We continued to create wealth through our own industry, and then we converted it to gold, and promptly buried it.
  11. We sought through silver coins to increase our contact with precious metal, as we understand silver to be a physical asset - not a paper promise, paying for as many day-to-day transactions with silver as possible, using our credit card (not debit) for what was not, and paying off the entire balance each month.
  12. We, having had a fiscal awakening as the result of these steps, tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Throughly have we seen a person fail who has rarely followed our path.  Haahaa.  I like this one although its not proper.  Some people also get mad when I say, sought through prayer and medication too.

The whole first paragraph of Chapter 5 really nails it. Every politician in America ought to be required to say this every day:

Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest.

It is not easy, but it is simple.  Spiritual progress.  It's a wonderful thing.  The politicians should try it, but that "honesty" business will prevent them from making any progress.

Well said - here's my list of 18 of course, with much common overlap:

  • Take Concrete Action to Align your Actions with Your Beliefs
  • Distance Yourself to whatever extent reasonable from all elements of the Broken System
  • Put your money where your mind is – financially support your deepest beliefs and convictions
  • Remove all but 10-15% of your net worth from the banking system/ financial markets
  • Take the Hit, and Close all retirement Accounts – and store the CASH yourself
  • CASH your paychecks – leave just enough in Small banks or Credit Unions to pay the bills
  • Become your own Central Banker – Put 10-20% of net worth in Physical Gold & Silver
  • Effectively Secure and Defend your Cash and Valuables
  • Limit your trading and investment exposure to financial instruments to 10-15% of net worth
  • Pay down all debts to whatever extent possible. ZERO DEBT is the ultimate goal.
  • Pay ALL credit cards used for convenience IN FULL each billing cycle
  • VOTE ONLY for LOCAL representation, especially for your local Sheriff’s
  • Don’t Vote in National Elections – What’s the point
  • Never fear expressing your 1st amendment rights in proper context and manner
  • Never abandoned the god-given inalienable right to defend your life and lawful property
  • Avoid the consumerism trap – Save and Spend money wisely and prudently
  • Conduct yourself like an enlightened gentleman of disciplined reason and sound conviction
  • Take all other Prudent Measures you deem necessary to align your actions with your beliefs

It's hightime for all macho "the-systems-fucked-whiners" to man-up and start conducting their affairs accordingly.

Sort of on topic, but, when was the last time the Fed gov't solved a problem?  I can think of things like the interstate highway system or even the TVA, but what am I missing that they either haven't punted or made things worse?

I look fondly at NASA, but not sure that any problem was really solved and the cost is just like a military project.  I would seriously like to know what good our gov't has done or problems it has solved.  There has to be something that I am missing.

The Government has solved many problems.  It just depends on how you phrase the problem and state the results.

Problem: Inflation.  Solution: Change the formula.

Problem: Pesky Truthers.  Solution: Control the media.

Problem: Deficits.  Solution:  Declare that deficits don't matter.

Problem: Supreme Court controlling government power.  Solution: Fill it with statists.

Need I go on?

Greetings good one,

Having been a friend of Bill's for just over 21 years now, this takes on a special meaning. May it go viral please.

But lets speak to your comment here.:

"The US government is the problem."

We the People are the Govt, which is so forgotten among the sheeples. If We the Peoples would be the govt, we would not have the problems that we have today. The great pretenders that call themselves leaders are only corrupted puppets of the greater bankster empire of dust and the money god. They only function from a very low vibration at the toilet bottom level of materiality. Still, we must forgive and bless their little pointed heads to move forward.

We'za peoples and others all here do not all see eye to eye always here but the good news is, we all sees! Everybody is knowing the what comes and prepares for it well. Is too bad we'za all pay for the mercenaries that are more powerful that our own army now. Sad so many were sacrificed for moolockie owl tribe killers of babies for profit. Support the troops! All de way to the unmarked graves.

Eh, we'za gonna be OK after de passage of a few of dems tings from outterz there.

Great point. Governments create more problems than they solve.

LBJ The Great Society - leads to the disintegration of American families

Clinton's National Homeownership Strategy caused massive foreclosures and growth in poverty, all so some twits at Fannie, Freddie and Bawney Frank could make millions.

Don't you guys realize that the gov't is tracking gold purchases and will show up and take it from you when it is at tis peak in price (collaspe) . They are following it more that guns.

They have done it before and will do it again!

Guns man, they are going up faster than gold.  The gunshop boys tell me the local rednecks purchased them at $1,100 take them to gunshows and roll them for $2K. Guns have tripled in price since Obummer took office. I am sure they will continue to increase in price this next four years. Inflation proof, with utiliity value with in posession, just like land, cattle,

They don't have to "take it," as they have other avenues of theft which are far more effective.

Remember, money is fungible. All they have to do is to keep shaking the tree and collect all of the goodies that the weak hands have to give up.

Bullshit.  Far too many canoe accidents and local tribes now for any reasonable chance of "taking" anything.  There will be no big bang in the end.  In the end you simply won't see the difference between detriot, mexico city, or sub-saharan africa.

Barring a culling of the herd fo epic proportions, we will all be millionaires living in the slums.  Those "crazy self-sufficient folks" will have the good life, well those with the means to defend their tribe anyway.

Got your tribe in order yet?  You better.

IMO, it's just a less destructive drug, where one goes from being a non-functional drunk, to a functional 12-step addict. That people can worship a little plastic chip, valuing it higher than their own life... well, I see it as merely a lesser of two evils in the form of a coping strategy.

Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it is intellectually dishonest enough to keep some people from ever truly recovering, instead remaining a victim their whole lives, using meetings as a further crutch and means of escapism.

The 12 steps of AA are only one larger step in the right direction.....towards a much more important understanding of who we really are and why we are here.

I used to think we were mortal beings seeking a spiritual experience.  I now believe we are really spiritual beings having a short-lived physical experience.  Being the hard-headed fool that I have been most of my life, it has taken me over 75 years to finally get it.
