Obama - "End Football!"

Bruce Krasting's picture

Well, the Prez didn't really say that. His words on the topic of football:

"If I had a son, I'd have to think long and hard before I let him play football."

This is another big milestone in the football story. We have hundreds of colleges and university that have big football programs; there are thousands of high schools that have teams. And the Prez says he wouldn't let his child play because of the risks? That's a hell of a message to be sending a week before the Super Bowl.

The medical evidence that connects "normal" head hits in football to mental problems years later, is not in dispute any longer. All the schools have this information, so do most of the players and their parents. Now Obama is telling that large group of people, "You're nuts!"

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama's comments end up being more of a factor than the medical evidence. That would be quite a legacy...

This topic came up on ABC this morning. (Link) George Will had this to say about football:

We have parents today, in this bubble-wrapped childhood that we now have, when they put their child on a tricycle, they put a crash helmet on them. Are those parents really apt to let them play football? This is going to be a rebellion, like the president is speaking as a parent, from the bottom up, this game is just not suited to the human body.

Steve Inskeep, NPR, responded to Will with:

There's something deeply American about the violence of this sport.

I think they're both right. America has a violent streak, we need our gladiators (and our guns). Gladiators are supposed to die, right? Who doesn't like this stuff?

Its not a shakedown, its a LBO on our backs, just like hollywood & NASCAR 'tax breaks'. Movies will be dumber, football will be gayer, and there will be more idiots on the freeway at rush hour, but they'll all conform to Reich role model specifications: Quotas.
The shakedown is when they send us the bill for this. No ticket required.

The thing that is shit about NFL or NBA or even college or high school is the extortion the run against taxpayers.   If you don't build the stadium or arena or whatever the teams wants - we will leave or "it will hurt the community."   I dumped TV years ago because the endless stories about how we had to keep the team, etc.  The endless hype about teh local team on Tv or radio.  "Oh we got pay the new coach $5 million year because Idiot State Tech's went 6-7 last year"   The alumni are upset.   Idiocy.

As someone mentioned about the rapist boy players at the Stubenville high school.  They needed to be treated with kid gloves because the HIGH SCHOOL team brought jot to a economically depressed area!  This is a high school team!  The same thing with college or NFL rapists.  Sick.  Shut it down for all I care.  maybe the sheep will wake up and nuke their TV and Hollywood's crap.

Recipe for socialist sheep breeding:

1. Introduce social security, so old people don't have to rely on the support of their children & extended family.*

2. Introduce minimum wage, so the kids, thoroughly indoctrinated and having no marketable skills (except the ones who get 'selected' into college or successfully evade the law; but not both) can survive being kicked out by their no longer supportive rents. Extra benefits include that this wipes out all the private apprenticeship programs and the (vital) manufacturing base.

3. Manipulate women into the workforce so the State can program the kids, and the generation doesn't have time to warn them / transfer their heritage. Obviously the impact of this policy is inversely proportional to wealth; the skulls get to keep their clans.*

4. Gradually inflate the cost of living. Blame anyone who opposes.

5. Rob the private retirement accounts.   <= we are here

Yeah, nobody's allowed to get hurt through stupidity and certainly not by choice.  Only the government is allowed to decide when you get hurt or killed (for instance, sending you to war).

if sports like football went away, where would middle aged balding white males get their positive images of young black men from?

the amount of energy that these fat cucks spend adulating over people who would rob and murder them at the first opportunity never ceases to amaze me.  They go sit in stadiums and cheer people who they need police to keep away.

I always wondered ... how come young black men can jump higher, run faster, punch harder, lift more and I am told are equal in every other way but suffer from 50% unemployment?

Why wouldn't the naturally superior just unrig the game for their own benefit?  Dogs don't keep humans as pets, do they?

The answers to your question have been known for years, but are forbidden to be discussed. The reason is they are genetically primitive to any other race. They still aren't that far removed from the earliest of humans. The one's that are more advanced have Caucasian ancestors somewhere in their family tree. As for punching harder, I doubt that one. Over the last fifteen years, something dramatically has changed in the sport of boxing: Other races are dominating the sport, even whites are dominating the heavyweight ranks. I remember watching a fight twenty years ago on the USA channel. The eastern Europeans were just beginning to arrive here and get fights. On the card that night was a former Red Army champion vs. one of our black fighters, who was the reigning champ. The Russian transplant entered the ring with his small compliment of corner people, then the typical flamboyant, arrogant black fighter entered with a large "posse".

The black fighter got up in the Russian's face during the introductions, shouting all the things he was going to do to him. The Russian not only knocked him out cold in the second round, but sent him flying through the ropes, and onto the scorer's table nearby. They carted him off on a ambulance gurney. After the fight, a USA network announcer ask the Russian a question I doubt they would even ask today:"Why do you suppose there are so few American white fighters today in boxing?" I'll never forget his answer:"Because they are told they can't win. We are told we can't lose". He was right. Look back over the last fifteen years and see who has dominated the heavyweight division of boxing. Hardest punchers my ass.

What other race is capable of putting a 275 pound, 6'5" guy down the 40 meter line in 4.5 seconds? American Football is export-proof. You couldn't even see Koreans from your $10,000 upper-deck seats at the Super Bowl.

Not true. You could get a bunch of Samoans.  Some big white Russian white guys on the ofensive line and at QB, little white guys like Wes Welker, big nordic guys like lots of the tight ends in the NFL.

South Korean dudes can get pretty big and tough these days too.

The trayvons of the world might be left with skittles and raspberry tea.

He's right, it is "export proof"...it's much deeper than that, there is something about "Americans" that allows them to get their "brains knocked out and coming back for more" that they just don't understand...

This is from an old TV guide review of Rollerball:

...this science-fiction film envisions a time when major corporations will control the populace by offering them a brutal and compelling entertainment to distract from the real social issues at hand and act as a funnel for their frustrations, hatred, and resentment. While the questions raised about the relationship between corporate power and sporting events…

The movie Rollerball reminds me of what we are morphing into today.   I was having that same thought a year ago or more.   The one I really missed is how all this drone shit and Google, sats, NSA and military are all Skynet run by humans for now.  I did not see that one coming from T2.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollerball_(1975_film)

Much of it was shot at the BMW headquarters right after it was built.  I am suprised they got that kind of access.

Great movie & I was thinking the same thing for a long time. Today,  society became like Rollerball where cooperations run the country in the interest of profit at the expense of the public good.

Any rugged individual who rebels against the system will be assasinated promptedly. How sad a movie made in the 70's accurately predicted the future.

People today are too stupid & busy playing video games that they lost their original thinking thinking.

I told y'all to go look the DARPA killer bots up a couple months ago.

The robot mule can carry 300lbs 30 mi or so already.  They'll muffle it and make it semi-autonomous.  And it will sit there patientily with its 300lbs worth of gatling and ammo...oh, wait, you thought it was going to carry food to starving children?  ROTFL.  It'll sit there and wait and when it detects a "potential terrorist," it will open fire.

The RFP for the robot cheetah includes "ability to evade incoming fire" and to "subdue a noncompliant individual."  You just put two and two on what they mean by subdue.  They mean it like how they "service" targets.  They don't mean it like Domino's means it.

They will send these robot armored mules in formation ahead of troops, drones above, drones below.  They have robot snakes, robot sharks, robot sea snake...it will just go and grab you and drown you.  Or flush you out...the mules can do that pretty effectively and then the MQ above gives you a hellfire dose of freedom and democracy.

A small drone can fly into a window and detonate with shrapnel.  Supercomputing blimps overhead.  I'm not the only one who can imagine this stuff; they're way ahead of you tough guys with your bunkers, ranches, and mighty AR15s.

If you don't think they'll have predator "where'd that bullet come from" technology to ice you, you're dumb.  Just a few robot mules with the right weaponry and your ranch is a thing of the past.  They will sneak up and observe for days and then you get freedom and democracy by the 500lb measure.

All that may be true Trav, but the people that build the munitions go home at night to their unfortified homes.  The people pushing the buttons have unprotected family.  And every time they use those sorts of weapons against Americans they will send more to our side.  It's just a matter of enough people being willing to die for freedom. Most Americans think they still have too much to lose to stand up even if firearm confiscations start.  The man that does not fear death cannot be conquered.

I recommend the ceviche at the Hermanos Gonzalez stand on Avenida Serdan just east of Calle Bravo.
