Food Manufacturers are Fraudulently Diluting High-Quality Food with Inferior - Sometimes DANGEROUS - Quality Junk
Some of the Fake Ingredients Added to Food May be DANGEROUS
In a predictable trend, food manufacturers are fraudulently diluting high-quality food with inferior quality items.
As ABC News reports:
A new scientific examination by the non-profit food fraud detectives the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), discovered rising numbers of fake ingredients in products from olive oil to spices to fruit juice.
"Food products are not always what they purport to be," Markus Lipp, senior director for Food Standards for the independent lab in Maryland, told ABC News.
In a new database to be released Wednesday, and obtained exclusively by ABC News today, USP warns consumers, the FDA and manufacturers that the amount of food fraud they found is up by 60 percent this year.
In addition, 70% of all ground beef was found to contain "pink slime".
Butchers use "meat glue" to create "bigger" cuts of beef, chicken, lamb and fish, even though it leads to much higher levels of food poisoning:
British hamburgers were found to contain horse meat and pork ... and it could happen in the U.S. as well.
Indeed, modern red meat is arguably not really meat at all.
And selling genetically modified food without labeling them as such is arguably food fraud as well, since a large majority of Americans want genetically modified foods to be labeled, genetically engineered foods have been linked to obesity, cancer, liver failure, infertility and all sorts of other diseases (brief videos here and here), and the Food and Drug Administration doesn't even test the safety of such foods.
Bad Policy Made Food Fraud Predictable
This trend was predictable because food manufacturers have been trying to hide food inflation in various ways.
The inflation in food prices, in turn, has been caused by quantitative easing - printed in an attempt to hide bank fraud - and the use of the printed money for wild speculation by the big banks has driven up food and related commodity prices.
And - instead of fighting for safer food - the Department of Justice and FDA often target whistleblowers and do everything they can to cover up wrongdoing. The Department of Agriculture is no better. And the Feds are treating people who expose abuse in factory farms as potential errorists ... and the states want the same power.
Widespread food fraud is the predictable result.

McDogfood is missing a marketing opportunity... As you say, the stuff never rots, spoils, or decomposes so it would make the perfect "survival" food! Just load up a back pack of McBurgers and you're good! The only drawback to that is you'd probably need to have Coke in quantity as I believe that's the processing solvent for McDogfood.
anyone still stubbornly eating at "fast fud" drive-thru troughs is beyond informing. . . willful inviting of ill health.
I'm over 60 and I've been eating McDogfood all my life and have had no serious he he he he he he(WHAP!) health problems. with modernnnnnnn brain reset technoklogy, when my processors get ssssssstuk, a quick whap to the right sidee of my head resets and it's all go go go go go(whap)good.
All this stuff is good for you. USDA approved or ignored, but don't buy or sell fresh milk.
Hell, I've quit eating at the "good" restaurants. I went from being too lazy to try and make my lunch, to too disgusted not to.
It's still sad though, going to Natural Grocers and seeing all of the processed poison they sell to well-intentioned idiots. Watching people making "informed" choices over which fake-meat soy patty to buy is really depressing.
Meanwhile, I can't even remember the last time I bought something that came in a cardboard box.
I do eat deer hearts when I get one intact. Cooked right, it's great!
smoked? only way i've eaten them. and yes it was good.
Eat it??? Now you tell me. First I had trouble rolling the damn thing, and then I couldn't get it lit.
you obviously didn't grind it up fine enough. just soak it in lighter fluid, problem solved.

As the profit squeeze starts in earnest you can bet more and more bad things will be found in your food. Stop eating processed food and if you can afford it go to a local butcher or better yet get a freezer and pick your steer to butcher.
We cannot stop everyhing bad we consume. Most of you eat 9 to 10 pounds of soil a year. Most drink water from the tap and that is some real nasty stuff. Get a reverse osmosis system they are around 200 bucks and you will see alot of improvement your health. You can use the rejected water from the system to actually water your garden. If your not into farming at least raise your herbs and tomatose and some other easy varieties of vegetables if you can. This is not easy raising crops. But alot of fun. Buy seed that is not genetically altered and can you believe it these cost more then the other seeds.
If you like hot dogs and sausage get it kosher, you pay more but it is worth it. Most processed food has loads of MSG in it and that stuff is nasty. My wife and I prepare all of our food unless we are traveling or out to meet friends at the local restaurant. A corck pot can do wonders with food. Turn it on in the morning and come home to a great meal.
Jack Lalane said it best a long time when I was a kid. "If man makes it don't eat it." Processed food is bad stuff.
Another one that I really liked was "if it tastes good spit it out"
I bought a water distiller and add trace minerals I bought at Swansons back to it when finished. ProPur sells a water filter that even gets fluoride out. Dr. Mercola had an article last year that said 25 studies showed fluoride was linked to brain damage.
Don't beleive everything Mercola tells you.
This is true of anybody.
If it weren't for brain damage, I doubt that many of us could face each new day.
FLOURIDEGATE An American Tragedy
"Slime never sleeps, especially if it's pink."
I always thought pink slime was running banks, not fluffing our meat.
I'd post a pic of Jamie Dimon here if I could, and even then it might ruin someone's meal.
thanks to extremely low interest rates, operational profits keep on eroding. producers look for sneaky ways to lower their costs in orders to stay afloat. some reduce the size, some lower the quality, but all refrain from inflating the price as long as they can. the consumer is toast and very sensitive to price hikes.
Avoidance of "price shock" in food prices is paramount. If you track your own market basket of the things you buy at the grocery store, you'll find a running "non-core" inflation level that has been hitting between 10% and 30% for about 3 years now...but the squirrels in the park have been holding value...
Expanding profit margins are all that matter GW. This leads directly to expanding waistlines as well.
There is joy in (corporate) Mudville.
We've eaten all over the world and the US is by far the safest (not the best). Most do not realize that food illness has been until the last few decades so common a problem that it was taken as the norm - rotten meat, mold, lack of variety. I've lost count of how often we've been told in Asia or South America to be vigilant since there is little oversight, regulation or food safety practices. Worse, many US foods come from these countries where preparation techniques are iffy. To eat well, use fresh produce, a butcher and high quality products. The problem is in the cheap food areas.
not sure that a country that fails to label GMOs can be called "the safest."
Realize though, that due to the Fed's support of the Treasury, it is no longer about expanding margins, but retaining them in the face of a currency that is being destroyed.
Honest businesses cannot compete in this environment, so they either die, or do what it takes to survive another day.
All in all, it's just another face of the fascist business model, where survival depends more upon government connections rather than satisfying customers.
and continuing the lie that modern agriculture (dependant on oil) is not falling apart. Kill two birds (and three humans) with one genetic stone.
"shut up and eat the poison slave-scum"
in other news, they put out my eye they did, for poaching on the king's land wot. (non factory-farmed meat is a conspiracy theory)
hopefully there are enough creds left on my chip for a slave-scum slimeburger, now with twice the special new ingredient- gosh im hopin, hopin upon a star!
soylent green, by people, for people (of people)
And it's going to get alot worse, trust me. With inflation going on and the degradation of services we will be lucky to see thousands not getting poisoned from industrial manufacturers.
Does that mean I can cut my oregano with some british tea?
Geez, next thing you know we will have to start worrying about the quality of fresh cat as well.

We had a vietnamese restaurant move in a while back, and all the cats have disappeared. My neighbor got an order of takeout and said he found a collar with "Fluffy" written on it in his container.
meat is meat...no need to be such a pus.....oh never mind
38% real beef.
Maybe there is a reason it is illegal for anyone other than the USDA to test for mad cow disease in the USA?
Mrs. Horseman's manicotti stuffed with spinach from our garden, homemade ricotta and mozarella from our milk cow, and italian sausage made from our own grass-fed beef.
Mr HORSEman? Yeah I ain't gonna eat any meat from his recipes.
And isn't Italian sausage pork? Not beef?
Could Mad Cow Disease Already be Killing Thousands of Americans Every Year?

Other than that poison manicotti, I'm jealous.
As GW briefly alludes to above, modern wheat is poison, and should be avoided at all costs.

Fraud became a primary business in America: housing, education, financial markets, news media, you name it. Why will food bisiness be any different?
Whens dinner I'm in and I will bring the wine since I'm not sure I want to drink it
F that. Because the USDA are on the job, alcohol many be the only safe thing. Without fermentation, civilization as we know it does not exist.
Keep USDA, FDA, WTFDA, keep government away from Boris vodka!
