it used to be that if someone (including corporation now which are people) was sued for negligence the award could be just about any number, depending on the plaintiffs case (yes we really loved him, his community loved him, its a great loss) but now its pretty much based on your projected lifetime earnings. when that family of four killed in a runaway Lexus settled with Toyota for 10M, it seemed a bit low. he was CHP safety officer, middleaged. later a family in the same area (attorneys measure these things by what kind of jury you will get in your specific area) sued GM over faulty wiring in a new Corvette which burned down their home, but no injuries, they got 3M. additionally we had another runaway Toyota in SD a few weeks ago. the MSM always calls it driver error. the accelerator stuck, driver error.

speaking of meat, it seems my personal supply isn't worth what it was a few years ago.
