Last thursday WB or was it wednesday, no it was thursday as i had just returned on the monday from the bi annual fortnight skiing trip to europe with the extended family( 3rd marriage ) just in time for the grand opening of a new titty/strip winebar in uptown manhattan).
Armed with 5 full weeks of food stamps i hit the town. After my 3rd lap dance( coulda been 4) and two bottles of crystal Champoo i needed some fresh air and staggered outside. From the corner of my eye the last thing i remember seeing was two city wall street types ( possibly they had witnessed me inside the club throwing my food stamps around and had followed me outside)
What a kicking i took! When i came round first reaction was to feel for the remaining food stamps in the inside pocket of my jacket only to find they had been substituted for 500 JPM Silver Short Contracts!
Can anyone at Z/H calculate my actual losses?

While for the most part I highly respect you ZH'ers, and WB7's efforts, I really want to know where you doucebags get off thinking SNAP benefits can be spent on lap dances (or let alone, McDz).... I can't even get hot deli food from my supermarket that way, not like it would go far enough if it did. And 4 lap dances? That's a whole month worth of food (at $3.62/day ish for 2 people). Those of us who actually use the damn things, are being pinched by helicopter Ben every month.

Someone please tell me where SNAP benes can be used in such a manner, or I'm going to start junking a**holes like you.

you're obviously a phony, SNAP issues a debit card. at midnight on the first of the month credit is issued to the account, so unless you started drinking after 12PM on the first of the month no one would want your debit card. and JPM is no where near ready to close its short on silver. your actual losses are mostly your credibility, would you like to apply for the job of Fed Reserve Chairman? that would go a long way to restoring your self esteem.

WASHINGTON -- One measure to curb gun violence in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre took a major step forward in the Senate Monday when a bipartisan group of senators agreed to push a bill designed to crack down on gun trafficking.

The measure, the Stop Illegal Trafficking of Firearms Act of 2013, merges a Democratic effort by Sens. Pat Leahy (Vt.) and Dick Durbin (Ill.) with a similar effort by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill). It also adds another Republican as a supporter, Maine's Susan Collins.

The bill would make it a crime -- with stiff penalties -- to purchase weapons on behalf of someone else who is barred from possessing weapons. Such "straw purchases" are believed to be the leading source of guns trafficked to criminals.

The future of the bill is uncertain -- as is another popular effort to strengthen background checks -- due in large part to adamant opposition from lawmakers who see any new guns laws as an infringement on the Second Amendment.

But the growing bipartisan backing for the anti-trafficking measure suggests the bill may have a chance.

"Our bill will help to keep guns out of the hands of criminals without infringing in any way on the rights of law-abiding citizens," Collins said on the Senate floor Monday, adding that the punishment for buying weapons for criminals could be up to 25 years in prison."

18 USC 922(d)(1)-(9) makes it a crime to transfer to a prohibited person.
18 USC 924(a)(2) specifies fine and up to 10 years in prison for doing so.

Not that I am a pro-gun grabber type but that bill only amends those sections in USC 922(d) (6) and 924(a) . It doesn't add duplicate laws. The section in 924 (a) (2) specifies 10 years max imprisonment the bill just ups it to 20 max and 30 under the condition if with reasonable cause to believe that any firearm involved will be used to commit a crime of violence . In fact the whole bill is nothing more than amendments to specific sections of existing laws.
