2 Year Anniversary of Fukushima: The Accident Is NOT Contained
Nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen said today that the containment vessel at Fukushima reactor 2 has a large crack in it. Reactors 1, 2 and 3 all exploded. BBC reports today:
They know very little about what’s going on inside Reactors 1, 2, and 3 [...] They don’t really know what the state of the reactor core is.
Indeed, there is no containment at Fukushima.
Large quantities of radiation are still leaking into the Pacific Ocean. And see this.
The operator of the Fukushima plants says it's "impossible" to keep storing radioactive water in tanks, and Tepco will need to intentionally dump it into the ocean.
The area around Fukushima has become so contaminated that even the trees are radioactive.
And Tokyo is almost as irradiated as Fukushima.
Agence France-Presse notes:
Beach walkers are likely to encounter a disturbing but relentless flow of flotsam [from Japan] for years to come.
American sailors were exposed to massive doses of radiation. Conditions were so bad that they considered suicide. Many of these good men and women are now really sick. More here, here and here. (But both the Japanese and American governments have abandoned them.)
Tepco might not even meaningfully start working to decommission the plants until the radiation level drops ... decades from now (Or until the technology exists to clean it up.)
It has now been officially admitted that the accident was caused by collusion between the government and nuclear industry.
A worker at the Fukushima nuclear plan succinctly notes:
Even an elementary-school kid knows TEPCO always lies.
***
We have been fooled by the government ...
We don't mean to pick on Japan. After all, the American government is dictating nuclear policy in Japan. American reactors are even more dangerous than Fukushima. And a secret report confirms that Southern California Edison knew of major problems at the San Onofre nuclear plant ... but let the slipshod expansion and remodeling project continue anyway.

Well, good work GW.
The Relevations of St John says 1/3 of the sea will die, I guess this is the cause.
Hmmm, that means we are approaching........bad stuff.
Thanks GW, you are good to keep this alive.
For most, this is an issue long since resolved, if indeed it came to their attention at all.
For the rest of us, all we can do is not much.
The West Coast 'authorities' seem to be much more concerned about disposal of Fukushima debris on the beaches
than any concern at all for Fukushima radiation in the salmon or tuna.
Kind of makes me glad about all that pre-Fukushima canned tuna and salmon I have in the old bunker; also all the pre-2011 vintage wine. I guess they are going to have to change that old saying to: "the paranoid shall inherit the earth".
Then how is it that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are in better shape than Detroit?!
After all, they were. nuked during WWII.
Conclusion: nuke Detroit.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki did not have an infestation of "cockroaches" like Detroit does.
GW - or anyone else with the data. Just for comparison, how does the TEPCO disaster compare in terms of radiation released with all of the above ground nuclear testing that took place in the pacific in the 50s and 60s? I'm wondering if we can use the known data from the after effects of the testing to predict the likely future over the next few decades.
All this fallout added up together, and taking into account all that is being added daily, the escalating killing effects of radiation poisoning that is bio-accumulating in EVERYTHING will only exponentially increase in severity, and shorten the time it takes to effect the entire planets bio-life. There is no going back to what was, only a growing worsening of this huge issue that so many choose to ignore. Death has taken off the training wheels and is now being speeded up for every single life form on this planet.
Nowhere to run to. Nowhere to hide.

Pilot to bombardier...we are over the target.
Bombardier to Pilot...Roger that!
Not sure of the data but this is probably the worst yet. There are six reactors on site using MOX fuel. The fuel has been exposed to air and parts of the PCV, RPV and corium have been found outside and around the site. Fukushima Daiini, a second site within the Fukushima prefecture may have already had issues, but the real concern is getting access to this site as the radiation from Daichi increases. There are no remote controls for these reactors, they must be operated onsite.
Have a look around http://www.fukushima-diary.com for reports including some data as translated by Iori.
There are also plenty of videos on youtube that show the extent of the disaster such as this charming example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg1ZhCBOqkU
This is a projected path of fallout:
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/16/science/plume-graphic.html?_r=0
The difference between the underground and atmospheric tests and Fukushima is that the tests involved a small amount of highly fissile material. MOX is a heavy fuel that is producing all sorts of waste isotopes with very long half-lifes. The single stable isotope of Gold, Au197, has even been seen coating pipes within the containment units.
A number of mutations are now being seen both in the local vicinity and now further afield:

http://fukushima-diary.com/2011/12/50-of-87-green-turtles-eggs-were-deformed/
A number of albino species have also been seen, particularly Sparrows. Albino Sparrows were noted during the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster.
For anyone interested in radiation readings across the US, Radnet is worth a look:
http://www.radiationnetwork.com/
Probably the explosion kept things from getting worse with the spent rods. If left to overheat all the rods would have melted into a horrible mess and would have blown huge amounts of radiation everywhere. The explosion sent the rods flying everywhere so they can be picked up and carted away. A lone rod sitting on the ground is not a big deal. It won't melt and can be picked up by a ROV and dropped in a cannister. The craziness of Tepco was in storing the rods all together near the reactor. The should have been isolated in dry casks like the do in Germany.
TEPCO aren't the only ones storing spent fuel in less that ideal circumstances:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Point_Energy_Center#Spent_fuel
"The craziness of Tepco was in storing the rods all together near the reactor."
Have you looked at where the US stores all the spent fuel?
For example Minnesota stores it at 2 sites. One is in Monticello and the other at Prairie Island. Both locations are right on the Mississippi River. Both sites use dry casks stored within the historic flood mark.
There is a third facility that stores waste as well, the LaCrosse Boiling Water Reactor in Genoa, WI which is also on the Mississippi River.
"LaCrosse Boiling Water Reactor
The LaCrosse Boiling Water Reactor was shut down in 1987 after operating for almost 20 years. Dairyland Power Cooperative has been conducting dismantlement and decommissioning activities. It is also developing plans for a dry cask storage facility. The spent fuel storage pool is inside the containment building. This plant cannot be fully decommissioned until all of the spent fuel has been removed from the pool. There are a total of 333 spent fuel assemblies waiting to be removed from the pool."

Seems lik ethe only hopeful things in the world are coming out of Italy. Beppe Grillo and Andrea Rossi's e-Cat is going into production. Amerika is filled with subhuman monkeys and the Asians used shitty GE technology.
Maybe Rossi will save the world. FTV, F Hollywood and teh subhumans in USA.
Decline in birth rate, rise in infant mortality. Children with thyroid gland cysts and/or knots in the Fukushima Prefecture: 55,592. Expected incidence of cancer cases resulting from external exposure to radiation: 37,899 – 82,606. Expected incidence of cancer cases due to food intake: 37,266.

Washington - sad to say we've both been banging on about this since it happened. You on your blog and me to anyone I know (often with your articles, enenews, fukushima-diary etc).
No one gives a fuck, and they will to continue to not give a fuck until their hair starts falling out. Then they will blame someone else.
We're stuck on a planet with billions of people whom simply do not give a fuck. And it will kill us all. Soon.
Maybe it's just a case of "the boy who cried wolf" with you two... ever thought of that? Nobody cares because it's always a bloody conspiracy with you guys.
STFU Max, stick to fishing.
Everything IS a bloody conspiracy, since everything is controlled by the money system, and the money system is the supreme conspiracy, whereby PRIVATE banks were able to corrupt governments to legalize those private banks being able to create money out of nothing, as debts, which system the government forces everyone else to accept.
We have already been eaten by those Vicious Wolves! The reasons why most people "do not give a fuck" is that the real world is totally controlled by lies, backed by violence, and so, "giving a fuck" does not make any difference to that!
It does not matter if you care. It does not matter if you present better evidence and logical arguments, because a system based on lies, backed by violence, "does not give a fuck" about those. The only thing that can actually change a system based on lies backed by violence is more lies backed by violence. However, doing that can only make things worse.
The dilemma is that one can either present good reasons why we should not do something, or should do something, which will NOT make any real difference to the real systems which are based on lies, backed by violence, and therefore, will simply deliberately ignore anything that they do not like. OR, one can really change that system of lies backed by violence, with even more lies, backed by violence. The deeper dilemma we face is that we can either accomplish nothing, or make things worse. Tragically, articles like those written by George Washington tend to illustrate that dilemma.
We are apparently not able to change the second law of thermodynamics, which says that everything goes to hell! The most we appear able to do is try to slow down how fast we head towards hell, such as pointing out the deeper facts about atomic energy, and why it only exists because it was subsidized by atomic bombs, and can only continue to exist because the people who benefit from being able to back up their lies with violence, such as with the threat of weapons like atomic bombs, are the people who control our civilization, because our whole civilization IS a bloody conspiracy.
I think your damning inditcment of our society is disturbingly accurate. Were it not so, we would not live as we do.
As a species we are deceptive, misguided and manipulative to a man, and this is the real root of our dilemma. I have never met a person who isn't so, if you've any sensitivity to the manipulative mechanics of rhetoric you will understand this to be true.
Sad to say, but I see our society is really just an extension of our nature. It's not the society we'd like, but perhaps the one we deserve.
I don't see that we are able to avoid our fate, the obstacles to enlightenment are too great for us to scale collectively or individually, the time in which to acheive this leap is too short. We are able to see the consequences every day if we wish to look, but as you say RM, it's true that it makes little difference whether we know it or not.
The grand cosmic irony must really be that we are doomed to destroy ourselves yet have almost boundless capacity for irrational hope.
At least there's a punchline. :)
Maybe you are a moron in the "face of facts"... ever thought of that? Nobody cares because its always bloody scarier than they want to think about.
Calling a lie "a lie" or a liar "a liar" is not conjuring a conspiracy theory. Can you honestly give me some examples where our govt. or any govt. for that matter is not outright lying? Seriously, I would like to hear some current truths that eminate from the establishment that deigns to rule me. I wish to get a little of that full faith back that you seem to have. God knows it would ease my mind some.
Shirley you can't be serious.
Thanks for the input septicus. My faith remains where it belongs.
We all see this real big problem. Ignorance has always been called the greatest destroying sin. Now, this ignorance threatens ALL LIFE on the planet...even those of the lizard banksters that think they can escape all this by going underground for a hundred years.
Factoring the current radiation for just five more years:
Current life expectancy for middleaged people:
Japan: 60
Hawaii: 65
West Coast NA: 70
Just a guess; nothing backed by facts; just a reasonable assumption
Certainly solves the entitlement problem
Worse, and yes.
Oncology will be a major growth industry along the west coast.
Already is. Started about a year ago.
"...Even an elementary-school kid knows TEPCO always lies..."
indeed.....it would be nice if americans would enroll in elementary school to get some wisdom....
i predict california real estate plunging hopelessly in 5-10 years as the effects of radiation become pronounced....now is the time to get out....
how can those stupid fuck sailors be so rahrah about their government and the navy? it boggles the mind that people would allow themselves to be raped and thrown away like menstrual rags all in the worship of their satan loving, lying, murdering government.....
now it is time for the hourly, my country right or wrong thugs to come out to defend this contempt for human life.
Think about this. All, or most governments of the world are onboard with this cover up. Why? You know it has to be so bad that there is no choice. It can't be solved. The same as we here are kicking the can down the road over our economic situation because it can't be solved (without total collapse), the Fukushima meltdowns can't be solved (without permanent radiation pollution). If the truth be told on either of these issues, it'll just happen sooner. Eat, drink, and be merry........
It makes sense that Tokyo would be impacted due to the heat island effect.
Heat from cars, air conditioners, computers, etc. rises, pulling in cooler air from the surrounding countryside.
There is a still controversial theory that cities actually attract thunderstorms for similar reasons.
With all the horrible news, I don't understand why their economy is holding up at all. Any theories?
You think that;s bad? Some Toyotas are growing a third headlight,
The Buddha is as much at home in a circuit board as he is in a mountain valley, as he is in a cauldron of radioactive waste.
More likely, it's tough to break camp when you've been there for thousands of years and have nowhere to go. They may be going down with the ship. You can't just move a whole country.
Or maybe there's an actual possibility that the damage remains localized. Chernobyl wasn't the end.
If all they need is a new home, I'd gladly give them 3 of our negroes or mestizos for every Japanese immigrant, glowing or not. No? 5! 10! Name your price!
'[Why is Japan economy holding up at all?]"
Easy enough. On top of the universal governmental propensity to lie, cover up, and then lie some more about *any* incident that makes them look less than 1000% pure & perfect & noble - and kindly note I said 'universal', so all you knee-jerk puppets who want to jump in here and chime "America sucks TOO!", just like Teacher instructed you to always do, can take a pass - on top of THAT, there's the Asian notion of 'Face' at play here. Admitting disaster/error/fuckups would cause grave loss of FACE for Japan, its "leaders" (LOL), and its people....and 'loss of face' is a very very doubleplusungood unthinkable thing over there. ANYthing's worse than _that_.
So they keep calm, carry on through the ever-rising mounds of radioactivity and government/corporate bullshit, and pretend all is well. Which they'll keep doing even on their deathbeds. Rather like Wall St and the Fed are doing right now, in fact.....
Face=ego.
Truly pathetic at best.
One wonders if losing life is as great a priority as is losing face.
They kept "face" but shitcanned "sepuku"!
My theory is that the excessive radiation will cause a mutation in the Japanese Mountain Gorillas which
will cause them to grow to enormous size and they will wreak havoc in the cities of Japan crushing
buildings and the Japanese people will call these creatures " GODZILLA "
We have something similar to that in the States. We call it "BERNANKE"
But Bernanke is not crush buildings!? Only is crush common people.
How can anyone respect a government which has acted to cover up issues which are
so important to the safety and welfare of so many people. It is nothing short of
criminal behavior.
Aww, cmon, it's "for the common good". Everybody knows governments don't do anything unless it's "for the common good". After all, what good could possibly come from millions of parents and kids learning that they've been irradiated, and will eventually develop thyroid cancer? Heck, if they knew that, they might stop being productive citizens, and society would be worse off because of it. So, give your government the benefit of the doubt on things like this - they're only looking out for what best for us all...
... looks at the red pill in his hand, and wonders what might happen if he swallowed it...
Yes, zorba. The way that the social pyramid system developed atomic energy is the most extreme example of the pattern that one finds everywhere one looks! The whole world is controlled by huge lies, backed up with lots of violence. Therefore, a fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting system was used to measure the "value" of atomic energy (which was always severely distorted by the "value" of atomic bombs.)
The megadisasters caused by atomic energy plants are the symbolic leading edge of everything else in "modern" Neolithic civilization! The social pyramid system is based on being able to make decisions which require the vast majority of people to be too ignorant and afraid to understand what is really going, while a small group gets to make decisions that will maximize their own short-term interests, regardless of the longer term costs to everyone else. Science and technology implemented through a social pryamid system results in amplifying to astronomical size the basic nature of that original system, which is the triumph of fraud, backed by force.
Atomic energy was developed to make bombs, which then irrationally subsidized the production of energy, because EVERYTHING that our society decides to do is decided by a process whereby the most evil people, who are the best at being dishonest, and backing that up with violence, get to make and enforce the decisions regarding what will be done. They are able to overrule eveyone else, since the vast majority of people were already well-conditioned and brainwashed to go along with that.
As far as I can tell, every other technology, like genetic engineering, actuals ends up being developed accordingly, to maximize the short-term interests of the ruling classes, regardless of the interests of the future generations. Since the world is almost totally dominated by the best professional liars, as well illustrated by the nuclear power industry, every decision we make drives us to do more insane things. The atomic power industry could never exist without criminal collusion between that industry and the government. Without special laws that limit the amount of insurance that atomic power plant have to maintain, they would all immediately be put out of business. Atomic power plants were part of the overall pattern of privatizing profits, while socializing the losses.
When every economic decision is made using a privatized fiat money system, every economic decision is axiomatically criminally insane, from the perpective of the overall long-term interests of society as a whole. The criminal collusion between the banking industry and the government is at the heart of the criminal collusion between the atomic power industry and the government. Similarly, since insurance is one of the pillars of the current system, there is a criminal collusion between the government and the atomic power industry to fix the insurance rates. AT THE CORE OF ALL OF THOSE THINGS IS THE FUNDING OF POLITICAL PROCESSES. GENERALLY SPEAKING, 99% OF THE PEOPLE PAID FOR NOTHING, WHILE 1% PAID FOR ALL OUR POLITICS. Therefore, everywhere one looks, the same pattern exists that the laws fantastIcally benefit the short-term interests of 1% of the people, while ignoring the interests of the other 99%.
As someone who has spent several decades working on that problem, I would say that the future is extremly bleak, because there are no good reasons to believe that the criminal collusion between the government and the ruling classes is going to change in the foreseeable future, other than to get even worse!
It's Government. Gov 101: they're sociopaths, and they don't give a shit about "respect". All they want is money & power, and more of it, faster.
Can someone please spinkle more MOX on Nancy Pelosi's vine yards in Napa? Nothing like a little Cesium to create a fragrant Chardonay. A fine mist of U235 on her delicate grapes each morning.
Alternatively - let all the illegals with TB and other diseases shit all over her vineyards.
My preference for that particular vintage features just a hint of iodine with a bouquet that produces the longer flourish of tart Pu-239.

This isn't going away, much of Japan will be irradiated, just you wait and see.
