Deep down inside, I think even William Banzai has a (maybe unconscious) nagging suspicion that buttcoin could end up as another Groupon ...

A faddish Ponzi-type fever that grabs a different audience than usual

---

Karl Denninger - computer geek as well as ZH-copying financial pundit - just wrote a long and persuasive piece, absolutely rubbishing bitcoin, including legal risks particularly in the fascist USA, and noting how it has aspects of a pyramid-like scheme to benefit its founders and early adopters:

'BitCon: Don't'

Digital currency + Web = disaster

I asked the noodle lady if she accepts Bitcoins. She bit it to make sure it's real and served me a bowl of binary noodles.

The concept of digital currency is something I started noodling years ago, so I am intrigued. However, it is not practical for me. Moreover, as we now see, it is not impervious to the human parabola virus.

Human parabola virus?  Even googling it couldn't aid in furthering my comprehension.  I am ever more confused than by a smiling Max Kaiser with combed hair.  Now if as virus you intend to infer that humans can dangerously infect anything they touch, then I am in full throttle agreement, Banz!

Thanks, I read Denningers article, here is my comment:

"legal risks" are irrelevant where we are going.

I don't know what the future holds for humanity, but it will certainly not stay in this intermediatery state of "more and more liberties taken away" and "growing police state".

From the point we are now we are obviously "going somewhere".

We will either see governments of the world cracking down on the people and basically enslaving us openly.

Or we will see a world were governments are rendered completely useless and dangerous entities that must be shuned by all of humanity.

To take a purposely anarchic system like bitcoin and to say that it faces "legal risks" is a total oxymoron.

Of course a government can intimidate you and threaten to throw you in prison....

BUT... it can only do so if large parts of the population comply and obey.

if 300 million americans stand together and decide they don't want to pay taxes anymore, what are a few IRS henchmen going to do?

Precisely. The current system has given up any pretense to moral authority. When there is so obviously one law for the rich and well connected and one law for everyone else. Why support such a blatantly immoral system?

Stick a fork in it. It's done.

Yes, that's it.

I welcome every experiment in anarchy.

If it provides valuable insight into the human psyche and is even capable of helping humanity in a never before seen way? That's something great.

We should have much more anarchical endeavors in our lifes.

We MUST have something working in place so everything can more or less go on when government starts breaking apart and showing its ugly face!

Those bastards are 100% going to completely rob, starve and kill us.

It will be too late when the "starving" part begins...
