The privacy-shredding Internet spying bill - CISPA - has passed the House.

Our only chance is to stop it in the Senate. Background here and here.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also urges us to contact Google, Facebook and Twitter and demand that they stand up to defeat CISPA:

Agree....and it would seem Congress and their "handlers" may be terrified of (some of) us.

Apparently nobody is sure about the source of that quote.

Like several other famous quotes, it is possibly apocryphal?

P.S.

I like your writing style Boris! ... It almost seems too cute not to be an affectation?

There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be?

We've got weapons, too.  And can fight with fists & elbows as well.  Not too afraid except for the occasional assassin that comes in the night.  But he might also be ineffective.  Let's face it - if they get some of our numbers they'll ignite a fire storm they will not be able to quench.  Injustice is injustice.  We've got extraordinaily weak leadership on numerous levels.  Where they take us is not a destination, but rather a journey.  CC Rider.

The Iraqis and Afganis found a way to fight the "beast" that is the US gov and its war machine as will the American people.

In the end the beast will be slain, mostly from the weight of its own corruption and murderous malfeasance. One need look no further than the TSA for a prime and bullyrous example.

Then foreigners, like maggots to a corpse, will spring to here and try to enslave the American people to their will, and the American people's fight will become one of repulsing the trespassers.   hujel
