You guys ever looked at the subreddit /r/economics? Truly an awful nightmare. Like 9th-level of Keynesian circle-jerking hell nightmare.

What a LABOR DAY aka. May Day Extravaganza from Banzai 7... laborers work overlords print... fair share in a delusional world

WB7, will you make one on the vampire squid? Would be cool I think.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

world_debt_slave's picture

I see this everyday where I work as a cashier in a grocery store. Also, serving in the US Navy this rings true from the highest to lowest levels of gov/military/corporate welfare.

"The retired case worker who contacted JW says in the three years he worked in a Sarasota food-stamp office, he found more than 500 cases of fraud but management ignored them all instead pushing a yearly quota. “They just said that if we don’t give out as many as last year, we don’t get our money,” McNees said. “It was crazy, like a three-ring circus; like the inmates were running the asylum.”"

I was told the exact same thing in the 1980's as a supply petty officer in the US Navy, spend all your budget, even if you don't need to, or we won't get the money for the next budget.

Corrupt to the core!

The Second Rule's picture

Actually, you just nailed the promotional system within the US military. It's not warrior prowess or even competence. It's the size of the budget that you control. That's how you go from being a 2-star to a 3-star to a 4-star general. It's all about the $.

Billy B. - These are classics. With Bernank the Skank on is way out, you will have to warm that keyborad for "Old Yellen". The Berkeley bitch.

I'm not so sure it will be her. Timmah has me thinking...

The henchman may be needed instead of the scholarly Keynesian if the shit gets real bad for them. He is clearly in the bullpen.

william, please do something with this.  This must come to light. Sad this hasn't been posted by Tyler.

Dewey Cheatum Howe's picture

Socialists are just passive aggresive communists. When the money runs out so does being passive aggresive then the guns have to come out next to maintain power and forced labor for the good of the state comes next. That is the path we are on if we don't start fighting back using every possible weapon within and outside the system at our disposal. Using truth to ridicule these people is only one weapon and a very powerful one in the right hands.

The Second Rule's picture

I don't know why but a sudden wave of sentimentality just rushed over me (maybe it's the martini). I was thinking how in many countries people get sued or thrown in jail for a long-ass time for shit far, FAR, FAR less controversial and provocative and incendiary than the content posted here on ZH. We really are fortunate to have the internet and this forum.

Now to the dark side (cause by nature I'm a glass is half empty kinda guy), I wonder how much longer this will last, i.e., the freedom to think and say what we want without reprisal? Seriously. I'm not talking about losing a tooth on the cardboard mat (I've lost several), I'm talking about even having this kind of a forum to air/vent our views at all. Cause it seems like everywhere I look the TPTB are closing in, abrading and eroding basic freedoms. A little bit here. A little bit there. I know for example that in the UK you could never have a website like ZH. You'd be sued for slander and shut down before sunset. Google and by extension Youtube seems to be getting more fascistic all the time, closing and/or suspending accounts for violating the TOS. And what does said TOS cover? Pretty much every goddamn thing under the sun, which means the Google Overlords can suspend your account for pretty much any goddamn reason they choose whenever it pleases them. So be glad for what's we got folks. I raise my glass to ZH and Wilhelm Bonzai.

We are "getting away with it" because we are the minority, and not a threat.  When our numbers grow and become more of a threat, they will try to take action.

In a small timeframe, I have witnessed ZH being mentioned in Yahoo Finance, in Krugman's blog and in a live ECB press conference.

I'm relatively new here. Was it always like this? I don't recall ZH being so well-known just a few months ago.

auric1234's picture

Btw, famous quote comes to mind: "First they ignore you; then they laugh at you; then they fight you; then you win"

I think Krugman has clearly moved to phase 2.

When we reach phase 3, they will shut this site down. But don't worry, this will just signal that TPTB are really desperate. Hedge accordingly!

In Minneapolis our last snow storm of the season is due to end on Thursday morning. If you need something delivered  next week here I would be happy to cart it downtown on my way to work William riding my bike.Saving a few electrons here and there.  It will all be melted by then. Like the wicked witch of the West, melting, melting.

Thanks for the artful magic.

there is a main plot and it is easily lost
resulting in aimless wandering, there the
fullness of human expression can be found
even if it accomplishes nothing but a well
trodden/lived experience of life.
times have changed.
"the future is uncertain and the end is always
near." j.m.
The Doors - Roadhouse Blues
justice, where can it be found, in the fullness
of time alone?
have the terrorists gained the highest offices
and, if so, is it even possible to ask that question
and expect a just and honest answer?
press conference question from the unwashed.
"mr. pres., what do you say to the population/s of
the country and world who recognize that their representatives are all bought and paid for by
criminals engaged in financial fraud who have
successfully perverted the laws and principles
of the country and human spirit for furtherance of
their advantage and personal gain,

"We're not trying to capitalize on the hysteria surrounding the Boston bombing, but the city is considering renaming the race, The 28 Mile Run for Your Life, Because the Terrorists Are After You.."

I'm pretty sure he said that..

blindman's picture

he also said, I heard while in a convenience
gasoline filling quick mart on their t.v.,
that "..we will continue to raise our kids (sandy
hook), go to ball games (watch out, I think he
leaked the next one with this slip) and run
in marathons (boston bombing)."
or words to that effect.
catch that? we have had no attacks at a ball
game that I can think of so I say be careful
with the ball game attending tendency. If you
hear that there will be security exercises at
any sporting event (ball game) run the other
way ! yes, seriously. they are turning the place
into a distant middle eastern cousin with all the
concomitant security issues even if they have to
create the insecurity themselves as the economic
downturn requires the spending boost and they have
tried nothing else and have run out of ideas to
assist the economy.

as has been said repeatedly the structure of the
basic unit of the system (money) is a Ponzi

That first part, that yours?  I like it!

The last part is genius.  Isn't it that easy?  Where is this question?  Please someone ask it repeatedly!

our media and journalist do not ask any
questions of any value anymore, it is all
a show and an orchestrated farce exercise
in self promotion. there is no meat to it,
remember that, where is the beef? there is
none, not that I eat meat but you know what
i'm saying. today everything is phony or
virtual or fiat and it doesn't relate to the
real people or the realness in people,
we are post modern nomads in outer/inner space
and the truth, whenever it is spoken, always
sounds like a foreign language even if it is
in your native tongue.

"A well trodden life." That would make a great book title.

Your quote is absolutely true.  It isn't the first time, it won't be the last.  History is a lesson only for those who are allowed access to the truth.  Great work as always, but the quote is the take away.
