We Begin

The Matrix was a movie released on 33-11-999, or as more commonly formatted (in the USA), 3-31-1999.  In the 14 years since it's debut it has become one of the most influential cultural icons of any generation, not only here in America but throughout much of the globe.  Everyone, at least those ones in Western sphere societies, somehow, can readily identify with it.  I wonder why?

No, I don't.  I know exactly why.  The Matrix was an urgent tap on the shoulder of ones who slumbered for too long.  It was Neo's alarm clock going off after he had spent the night chasing the White Rabbit.  It itself was a Red Pill, subliminal and subconsciously delivered, setting us on a collision course towards a wakeful state.

On 9-11-2001, WTC #1 and #2 were offered to Americans as the Red Pill and the Blue Pill.  Except there was no choice: we were force-fed the Blue Pill, a concoction of Prozac, Viagra, Extenz, and Meth.  A review of our history from that choreographed day to now reveals all too plainly the grotesque tragedy of America the Empire as it played out towards its predictably inevitable demise.  Today, America is a mere rumor of what was once upon a time a respected nation of common statesmen and country scholars; the land of the free and home of the brave.  Oh, what a sad irony those words now elicit.

So here it is on a 13 date, and it's 11:55 as I glance at the clock on my computer.  This day is a long one in coming.  I asked Tyler to let me blog on Zero Hedge over a year ago.  I wanted to begin spreading a word, a gospel--the Gospel of Chumba.  Perhaps I am an arrogant man.  Or perhaps I see what is happening today as Biblical in proportions.  The Sequle, as it were, being written before our very eyes.  We are witness to the next aeon of history; the year zero.  It is begun again.

I know, I know, none of this makes any sense whatsoever.  Chumba's a douche, and Tyler's a fag for letting him on here to spew this horse shit.  My  response to you is: patience, brother.  Patience.  This is a process.  First, we need to open your eyes, but it must be done slowly.  The first actual rays of real light shining into your pupils are going to be overwhelming and painful.  This is normal.  You will be dazed and confused, cognitively dissonant.  I am going to blow your mind, and you will not like it one bit.  But you will thank me for it later.  You're welcome.

To begin this journey, you must awaken within the dream, before you can awaken out of it.  So follow the white rabbit.  Don't worry about over-sleeping and being late for work.  You're soon to find out your job or career or whatever is irrelevant anyway, once you come to the realization that modern society is merely the modern day equivalent of the Colonial American slave plantation, just with benefits like a corner office and vacation time.  It's an elaborate stage performance put on to convince you that you're free, and everyone is a player in the charade, too doped up to realize what they're watching in the TV is themselves.  A caricature for sure, but ourselves nonetheless, a carnival house reflection of what we have become.

But the crazy dream, it ends now.  Wakey wakey.  There is work to do.

I am Chumbawamba.

Why should I interpret that The Marix, comming as it does out of the main stream mediation industry, has any identifiable truth?  At first and only viewing (luckily I had ear plugs on), I found it deeply distressing for the way it twisted spiritualization principles into oh-so-self-confident pop wittyness.  And oh yeah, with guns, lots of guns (yeah, right, the thinking mammal's orgasm).

If the matrix controlled media industry is where the population, even a presumptivley disillusioned sub group, gets the subtle impressions that underlie the principles for its subconscious motivation, then the notion and practical effectiveness of ..... a circle jerk, comes to mind.

Did The Matrix give any hints about how oppressed peons can organize to formulate and assert their moral and ethical prerogatives against developed systematic control?  (uhg, borrring)  Or did it effectively keep them mired at their personal monitors with dreams of red pill convenience and potency?

"I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end.  I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.  I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see.  I'm going to show them a world without you.  A world without rules or controls, without borders or boundaries.  A world where anything is possible."

The film is a useful introduction to thinking about thought.

The guns are the sugar that help the medicine go down, but really, like a good business book, you have the most important premise after the first 1/3.

There's no accounting for taste. Peter Green's FM was boring, a blues band born too late. They never even got interesting until they put Christine McV at the microphone. I was driving a truck down I-95 in Florida the first time I heard "Go Your Own Way". Won't forget that--"Rattlesnake Shake" not so much.

Still, shovelhead's a good name. Better than panhead or knucklehead, Easy Rider notwithstanding.

we were force-fed the Blue Pill, a concoction of Prozac, Viagra, Extenz, and Meth.

will never forget that day a month or so after the demolition when i was watching the teevee and a psychiatrist was on the local news extolling the virtues of anti-depressants to "help us cope with this horrific tragedy".   that's when i knew instinctively that The Fix Was In.   call me a slow learner, i guess.

i would make the case that The Matrix (much like its zeitgeist twin, Fight Club) was made as a pre-emptive limited hangout in order to condition those in whom the themes would resonate to believe that the answer was to Fight The System, when in reality, The System (especially when its latest iteration is in terminal decline) feeds off the energy of conflict in order to survive.  i/o/w every Boogeyman needs an Anti-Boogeyman and vice versa...doppelgangers within doppelgangers ad infinitum...    see for example, Rome morphing into its dreaded enemy, the Roman Catholic Church; the British Empire morphing into its rebellious son, AmeriCo, etc etc etc.

although there are clues embedded into each of the stories (as always) as to a more effective response, it is most clearly and succinctly summed up by the great American writer Herman Melville through his character Bartleby the Scrivener:

I would prefer not to...

not as dramatic, very boring actually, no Neo, no Brad Pitt, no guns, no special effects, no macho posturing, just a simple statement made with crystal clear intent withdrawing one's consent.

hopefully Sir Chumbles will elucidate upon this in greater detail in subsequent diatribes.

reading down the thread, looks like we're in for some fun, finally.  I decided to *pop in* here, amongst friends & somewhat similars, mainly inspired by this,

not as dramatic, very boring actually, no Neo, no Brad Pitt, no guns, no special effects, no macho posturing, just a simple statement made with crystal clear intent withdrawing one's consent.

only to offer my opinion, that these specially effected movie postures, while entertaining, never quite fulfill in the way a carefully scripted film can, or even one with no scripts, just en-lightened visuals, such as Baraka, or the Qatsi trilogy provides, in my opinion, of course.  these films, and others from selected directors, have done more to provoke deep thought on the way of the world's madness, from a less Western-centric, macho-postured point of viewing.

I truly welcome the stirring of the ZH pot by Chumbawumba, and can't help but think the chosen debut might just be auspicious, in ways we've yet to acknowledge fully *here* - and of course, feathers will be ruffled, who would have it otherwise?

things have never been the way we were told to imagine.   bring it!

I suspect that can of worms will be used as a honey pot ... but who gives a fuck!?!

PS. Don't for a minute fall into the Euro-babble of Ghordius and Flaccid Penis and believe that "America is a son of the British Empire". The "United States of America" was incited by a certain group that had just been chucked out of Europe (and much of the rest of the developed world of that time) - to be used as a Trojan Horse to re-capture the European centre of power (Rome...at that time).

One of their very first acts was to set up a Central Bank. One of their second acts was to raise taxes at gunpoint. One of their third acts was to steal the Asian drug trade from the Briish East India Company. One of their fourth acts was to foment a civil war.....

well dear dawg, if one's got enough tinfoil in the bloodstream (which all of us moonbats do on occasion), one could suspect that this entire site is one joocee honeypot.   but i agree, at this point, who gives a fuck?

just to clarify, the statement was written based on the historical "fact" that the 13 colonies were under the "ownership" of the British Crown just before their "independence".    as a rebuttal to your claim, i could point to that curious trip to London that Hamilton, Franklin, et al took just before coming back to those loosely-confederated States to attend the ConCon.   but then, that would ignore TJ's backdealing with French, etc etc etc.

imho, all these arguments over who are only important in order to reveal the mechanisms of how.   the names change, but the game stays the same...

Any one who thinks America won the War of Independence...   Just didn't study their history very closely.

Why did Britain surrender?  Look what happened in the Boer War, scorched earth, concentration camps, as opposed to the War of Independence, and you see what it looks like when Britain is actually trying to win, at all costs.  The War of Independence was won by Britain, through diplomacy.
