Why Liberals Should be Outraged that the IRS Targeted Conservatives
The IRS started targeting Tea Party members, "Patriots" and similar conservatives starting in 2010.
But the IRS' harassment of conservatives expanded way beyond those groups.
As United Press International reports:
U.S. Internal Revenue Service inquiry of conservative groups included those lobbying to "make America a better place to live," new details emerging about the IRS investigation indicated. That lever goes beyond what the IRS admitted Friday, which was that it targeted groups with "Tea Party" or "patriot" in their names, several media outlets reported Monday, based on draft findings from disclosures to congressional investigators by the Treasury Department's inspector general for tax administration.
***
At various points over the past two years, the Cincinnati IRS office, which is in charge of evaluating applications for tax-exempt status, focused on groups making statements that "criticize how the country is being run" and those involved in educating Americans "on the Constitution and Bill of Rights," the draft report cited by The Washington Post indicated.
By June 2011 some IRS specialists were probing applications of groups focusing on "government spending, government debt or taxes [and] education of the public by advocacy/lobbying to 'make America a better place to live,'" the report cited by the Journal indicated.
The inspector general's investigation also found the head of the IRS tax-exempt-organizations division knew as early as June 2011 conservative groups were being inappropriately targeted -- several months before Douglas Shulman, IRS commissioner at the time, denied to a congressional committee the agency was targeting conservative groups, the newspapers said
Liberals should not assume that this is the "other guy's" fight.
The targeting of conservatives under a Democratic administration could switch to a targeting of liberals under a subsequent Republican administration.
Congressman Mike Rogers is correct when he says:
I don't care if you're a conservative, a liberal, a Democrat or a Republican, this should send a chill up your spine.
Remember, governments always target the "out" group first, and - if we don't protest - spread the abuse to include everyone.
It is ironic - and downright Orwellian - that the IRS targeted people trying to educate Americans on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Unfortunately, this is not entirely surprising, given that the Bill of Rights have been fatally wounded by the Bush and Obama administrations, and that liking the Founding Fathers or being “reverent of individual liberty” could get one branded as a potential terrorist.
And the IRS is acting like Big Brother ... spying on our shopping records, travel, social interactions, health records and files from other government investigators. The IRS targeting those who try to educate people about taxes is analogous to the Federal Reserve using web-based counter-espionage to attack critics of Fed policies.
Welcome to modern America ...
Postscript: Those who assume that the Tea Party is made up of a bunch of crazies may be interested in learning that - despite the divide-and-conquer tricks that the mainstream media peddles - the Occupy movement and the Tea Party were originally protesting the exact same things: the malignant, symbiotic relationship between big government and big corporations, and the destruction to our economy caused by the unchecked power of the Federal Reserve.

We are missing the bigger picture here people...
Steve Forbes was right....
We need either some sort of Fair Tax or Very Simple Flat Tax with a de minimis IRS organization, that boarders on a stripped down book-keeping firm performing the most mundane and ancillary duties, because the system is that simple.
The corruption is in the code, take it away, take away their power to do stuff like this. Take away the shrimp buffets from the K-Street Lobbyist and their fellow oinkers over in the House and Senate...
Everyone knows that the corruption is in the code.
The bottom line is that for now, it is more profitable to commit outright fraud and deception rather than producing things of real value.
Here ya go George...always keep an eye on the other hand in this circus...Benghazi.
"The brother of a top Obama administration official is also the president of CBS News, and the network may be days away from dropping one of its top investigative reporters for covering the administration’s scandals too aggressively.
CBS News executives have reportedly expressed frustration with their own reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, who has steadily covered the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack in Libya since late last year.
“Network sources” told Politico Wednesday that CBS executives feel Attkisson’s Benghazi coverage is bordering on advocacy, and Attkisson “can’t get some of her stories on the air.”

I have been waiting most of my adult life for some republican to have the balls to make the IRS audit Jesse Jackson's three non-profit organizations. It is sad that republicans are like Ken Dolls; smooth in the front.
wake me up when their women are clubbed and pepper sprayed in the streets....
Forget about bringing up realities like this to tea party folks. It's so far beyond the comprehension of most tea party types they won't understand the words you wrote in the sequence you wrote them.
Besides, they're conservatives which means they only care when things affect them and only them, personally. They couldn't care less about something that happens to some non-conservative out there on the street. In fact, few if any of them will see themselves in the same category as an occupy person getting pepper sprayed. Empathy is beyond their capabilities. But they do a great job at the whole poor, persecuted Christian white male whine fest when they get their toes slightly stepped upon. That's when they whine that everyone else needs to to feel sorry for them and align with them because NOW it's serious if the shit's landing on them too instead of just everyone else.
I was listening to NPR last night. They were talking about single mothers in Mexico and how they have seen a dramatic increase in this trend. They describe how it is actually an indication of social progress where women are liberated and no longer need men and how this is also showing up in the increased employment of women. They said Mexicans do not call them single parents as that is politically incorrect. Instead they refer to them as Women, head of Houshold. The progressive utopian view is that we all must work in an official capacity as per the State, (as tax payers) and parenting is a secondary issue best handled by the State. No problem here, No chance of moral hazard or unintended concequences either. The only thing important is that whether we be gay or black or female, we MUST either work for the STATE or be dependent on the STATE. Obviously nothing can go wrong here. Progressives believe in things that effect others and are doing everything they can to be sure that their caring agenda is put in front of every other. Every tyrant the world has experienced in the last hundred years has imposed the agenda for the "people" Hitler to Lenin to Mao. They did this with considerable possible public support. Impose their vision of social and economic justice, and anyone who stood in their way was dealt with appropriately. Progressives to the end.
Uh...yeah. EVErY non-conservative person is a statist hypocrite who wants to exterminate anyone who does not conform. Maybe the whole problem is intolerant idealists of ALL types who think their way is the only way. It seems that kind of thinking infects all ditffernt kinds of folks, even those who talk the most about freedom, meaning freedom as defined by themselves.
Good one GW. Short, sweet, and to the point.
Liberals are largely stupid - I can't tell you how many liberal friends I had who I could have what seemed to be an intelligent conversation with when Bush was President (as we had common disgust for the Neocon Republicans) but who now can find no wrong with Obama while he continues the same policies (war, destruction of civil liberties, and control by criminal banksters) They are the ultimate hipocrites and fools-worse than Republicans. We are a nation of sheeple fools, crying out to be a nation of serfs in an Orwellian police state.
That is because they have shit between their ears instead of brains.

Support our brave Allied heroes! ... what could possibly go wrong ... they're real sweethearts? (oops, sorry)
EDIT: ... and they just did! ... 2014? ... 2 0 1 4 ?!
http://rt.com/news/britain-syria-double-aid-224/
It's all perfectly innocent, and I'm sure they didn't really intend to make the Syrian apocalypse so much more violent, for so much longer ... that would be wrong! ... it ... it just sorta turned out that way .. it could have happened to anyone ... no, really!
Hey Britain! You are what you do.
Good post GW.
Everyone should be outraged...Johnson did it, Nixon, Clinton...now O'Barry.
O'Barry knew about it and he lied through his teeth today saying..."I first learned about this from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this,”
Bullshit. This goes back to 2010.
http://abcnews.go.com/images/Politics/Appendix%20VI%20and%20Appendix%20VII.PDF
It's an outrage when the shoe is on the other foot. Cry me a river.
Commissioner Douglas H. Shulman, who was appointed by President Bush in 2008 and held by President Obama, left the agency in Nov. 9, 2012. Any pre-election misconduct would have had to occur on his watch
Bush appointed him based on his qualifications, not his political party affiliation. Does anyone know who he contributed to in the elections? It is a public record.
I'm shocked, shocked I say!
That a statist (head of the IRS, no less) would have knowledge of a witch hunt against people saying we are Taxed Enough Already!
Whats this world coming to ;-)
When a natural disaster strikes, fraudsters come out of the woodwork to collect donations and disappear. The flurry of organizations registering with "tea party" themes provides excellent cover for fraudsters to steal under the guise of "fighting tyranny." Frankly, an IRS that didn't stick its nose in this kind of stuff from time to time wouldn't be doing its job.
More like the Clinton Bush funds for Haiti, etc...
bullshit - go after fraudsters-the Democrats have plenty of them.
I think they call them Obama campaign bundlers instead of fraudsters...it sounds so, harsh...lol...kinda like Phil Falcone & LightSquared ;-)
Fine, by all means go after the fraudsters. I've just had enough of the "I shall not be questioned about anything ever" attitude espoused by so-called conservatives. It's right up there with the mealy-mouthed defenses of the "free" market while you do everything possible to cripple it (wah, I don't want to label my product, an informed consumer might choose differently and, golly, then I might have to compete). You're not always right, you're not always entitled to what you want, and sometimes you do have to answer to other people.
So how many progressive thieves masquerading as teabaggers did the IRS find?
You want the "free shit army" to care about something other than free shit? Good luck with that.
Well done GW
Conservatives have been whipped into a frothy rage by the news that IRS tax scrutiny targeted more than just Tea Party groups.

Forgive my pompous sounding manner, but this is an excellent time for the lesson in misdirection as to what the really big story is regarding the IRS (definitely not the above).
Instead of CorporateMedia reporting the big IRS tax story (see links below, please), they are redirecting your attention, or misdirecting your attention, to the insignificant eye candy story above.

Now, supposedly, shortly after 9/11/01, the major global banksters met at a chateau in Switzerland (called the "Wolfsberg Group" after Chateau Wolfsberg) to establish the AML, or Anti-Money Laundering rules and procedures, when in actuality what they were doing was establishing greater control over the global money laundering procedures from which the profit mightily from.
The real agenda becomes obvious when one considers that the IMF, through a private group they contracted with, the Edgemont Group (in Europe), established financial intelligence centers (called FinCens) to oversee such money laundering activities at the Offshore Financial Centers, also referred to as tax havens, throughout the world.
Now some countries, such as the USA and UK, already had their own FinCens in operation (the Treasury's FinCen, and the UK's FSA, or Financial Services Authority). Obviously, since then many, many of those banks --- and other top banksters --- involved with that Wolfsberg Group have been responsible for major money laundering activities: Barclays, JPMorgan Chase, Soc Gen, and the latest in the news, UK-based HSBC, which did an estimated almost one-half trillions dollars for ten years, amounting to almost $5 trillion in drug money laundering!
Thus, it is most highly probable that this investigation will go nowhere, unless it is to curtail the activities of their competition?
The origin of these offshore financial centers, or tax havens, dates back to the 1960s, when President Kennedy and the greatest (real) populist to come out of Texas, the honorable Rep. Wright Patman, instigated a congressional study into foundations and trusts and how they were being used to hide/shelter the wealth and ownership of the super-rich (Rockefeller, Morgan, Mellon, du Pont, Harriman-Mortimer, and other such families).
With the investigations into foundations and trusts, the move was on to offshore those trusts, foundations, and other such vehicles to offshore finance centers.
Sadly, although this study was finished around 1968, after the assassinations of President Kennedy, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Bobby Kennedy, Nixon would become the president and derail the commission which was to follow to enact any changes: Rockefeller stooge, Peter G. Peterson was appointed to head this commission (the "Peterson Commission on Foundations") and nothing ever came of it. (Peterson was later handpicked by Rockefeller to become director of the Council on Foreign Relations, and would himself handpick Timothy Geithner to follow Peterson as chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the control element of the Federal Reserve System).
Wright Patman's position on the House Banking Committee was stolen from him around that time, and corrupt business of Wall Street continued on.
Com'on...like we should be suprised? Really? Want something that will really blow you away, google "NSA new facility in Utah." Every stinking electronic message you send, receive, purchase or sell will be recorded. So then you ask yourself..."Why would our government want to do that?" Think about it.
Plus, the Fed is talking about reducing their QE before 2014, plus Obamacare kicks in January 2014 and if that doesn't scare the shit out of you...you need Exlax. Then, a major provision of Dodd Frank kicks in January 2014 that will make Home Equity Loans near impossible and for those that do qualify the cost will be outrageous. The bad thing is the Reg B and Reg Z language is being written by newly hired college grads with zero home ownership experience. And we'll wring our hands and say "....those darn banks suck" but in reality...its Obama and his minions. And we're supposed to be outraged by the puny IRA targeting conservatives? Geez...2014 is gonna be a helluva year.
In the words of Yogi : "If you want to really see something, turn on the light."
Don't worry about being late to the party...
Sit and have some cake and ice cream.
Bye the way, that 'puny' IRS can grab your money out of the bank and leave you destitute for years while you beg to get it back.
I learned that trick years ago. Never again.
LOL nice try George, but they're not going back to a "Republican administration" ever, to do so would require indictments, prosecutions jail time and possibly executions.
Any "Republican Administrations" elected going into the future will be RINO, like we currently have.
First they came for the tea-party........
Leave it to the phony left to ally with gangster gov't in favor of defending this lawlessness against their fellow citizens. There is a reason they're called useful idiots. They don't realize that they will be targets someday.
28th Amendment (The Constitutional Emergency Amendment)
Corporations are not persons and shall be granted only those rights and privileges that Congress deems necessary for the well-being of the People. Congress shall provide legislation defining the terms and conditions of corporate charters according to their purpose; which shall include, but are not limited to:
1, prohibitions against any corporation;
a, owning another corporation,
b, becoming economically indispensable or monopolistic, or
c, otherwise distorting the general economy;
2, prohibitions against any form of intervention in the affairs of government by means of;
a, congressional lobbying
b, electoral sponsorship or advocacy
c, educational sponsorship or publication
d, media news reporting
3, provisions for;
a, the auditing of standardized, current, and transparent account books
b, closing the FRB and the establishment of state-owned banks
c, civil and criminal penalties to be suffered by corporate executives et al for violation of the terms of a corporate charter.
Optional: (or possible 29th amendment)
The 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution is hereby repealed and Congress shall re-write the U.S. Code to reflect the changes embodied herein.
If you don't want corporations to have individual's rights then don't tax them. NO taxation without representation! If they are going to be taxed, and taxed as a minority in a democratic sense, then the least that you can do is let them defend themselves with their money. It doesn't make me happy and we shouldn't have to worry about corporate interests in our laws and politics. We should not be taxing any business.period. Any taxes we assess on business is included in their costs of doing business and is passed through to their customers. Corporations seek tax shelters which in many cases gives them advantage over their lesser connected competitors and find them neccessary to compete internationally. Again, I do not want corporate influence in our laws and politics but we cannot expect them to pay taxes without trying to push back. Stop the madness by reforming our tax system to at least appear transparent, and it must above all things be blind to social engineering, as that is the path of good intentions that leads us to hell.
No taxation without regulatory capture!
Exactly. And I couldn't agree more. Now; if we could just get the other 300,000,000 to go along, we could fix this shit in a couple months. Thank you.

HUH? Targeting TeaParty anti tax people makes perfect sense. I would be pissed if the IRS was not looking at them ... Next up can we go after the politically active right wing churches abusing their charitable staus.
Like your guy JESSE JACKSON, AL SHARPTON or that WRIGHT dude. Shouldn't they be at the top of the targeted list?
Oh wait, can't do that, because they are black and Targetting them might be racis. But, you know what, fuck it, target them anyways. Those three yahoos have been getting away with racial hatred, advocating black on white crime (by NOTsaying anything o the contrary -acts of omission) furtherances of hatred and just being all around ass holes. I would NEVER invite those three bigots into my home. Not until they change their ways!!
By the way - IT'S OK TO DISAGREE WITH A BLACK MAN.
Mark my words well...
The war of words will lead to a war of bullets. This shit won't end well!
Don't forget those gay marriage activists abusing tax-free status like Move On and the like.
And the left wing churches hiding wetbacks and breaking the law.
Hehehe.
An ACORN by any other name still smells...

But it does seem to be the Democrats who have a propensity to use the tools of government to greater effect for political gain and punishment. Remeber that the Clinton people used the IRS to attack conservatives. They used the FBI to make political enemies list. That didn't seem to happen during the Bush years.
Clinton used his police to kill at Waco, Ruby Ridge and a bunch of other places as well!
The sycophants will protect their king at all costs. Party politics is the lowest form of intelligence.
Yep, outrage when Bush enacted the Patriot Act but not a peep when Obama strengthened Homeland Security. This is what happens when people believe government is the solution to all of life's "inequalities."
After TSHTF we absolutely must do our damnedest to restore the The Republic. Jefferson and the other founders knew all about corrupt banks and the evils of a central (federal) government and they wrote the rules accordingly. The corrupt bastards immediately started to undermine the Constitution and have been at it ever since. Hopefully the banksters and their puppet politicians will all perish in the coming meltdown and we will have the opportunity to start over. If we don't go back to the founding principles the USA be just another country ruled by demagogues enforcing a police state.
A little fucking late.
Study some fucking history.
Once country's go this far, there is no going back, once all mercanitile economy's in history fail, the rich leave, and the producers and one morning the parasites wake up with nothing to eat. The USA now has 60% on the dole ( cop's, ... welfare queens, us service men, congrass-man )...
They now spy on us all and control all, the USA man has been NEUTERED he's now afraid to get drunk, and or wank his dick. He can't even play with a toy gun in public, or even at home, in fact its best he not even touch his child.
No where else on earth is as fucked up as ameriKKKa today.
The frog was boiled a long time ago, ... 'mandel brot' get 25+, and I'm sure most here are arm-chair patriots, and they're mad as hell, but what the fuck can you do?
Not a fucking thing, right now folks like us that smell the dead, are going to be exterminated and only those that keep their mouth shut and sit in front of the TV and stay home ( self imposed prison ) will be safe, ... until they come for them.
This is not a new story,
Germany only survived because they were invaded and it was USA interest to re-compensate for war and same for Jap's,
But the US is being looted and when this is over there is nothing to steal, and only 300M souls who are parasites, the world will simply let them kill each other, .. "CIVIL WAR",
Besides there is NOTHING worth saving in the USA, as all its people are rotten to the core.
Amen, bro. Well said.
Progressive-Democrats are NOT outraged. Here in state worker city, in the heart of the empire, lifelong, blue-collar democrats don't even think this should be a story.
Progressives believe that their control of the Executive branch is permanent because their demographics among the voters are only increasing, and that increase will not be reversed. Their control of the Media and the Culture is permanent as well. This is why they are not concerned about this.
Correct. Those AP reporters will probably write a glowing testimonial of our Leader from their jail cell. LOL. And yes, because of the concentration of dems into a few urban areas they will most likely continue winning the Prez while losing the House.
