Japan has had people emigrate out in the past due to bad economics in the home Islands. The US, Brazil, Peru, and some others.
If you check under the bridges, some of the out of the way places in public parks, rooms in cyber cafes, the overnight sleeping cells, group living hotels. You can find the underemployed, the unemployed, and the homeless. I don't know what the stats are recently, but a while back you had old people committing suicide so they wouldn't be a burden on their kids. The salary man who has lost his job and still leaves the house everyday pretending to his family that he still has a job has become a literary cliche. A lot of companies now only hire "temporary" workers to avoid having to pay the mandated benefits required by law for "permanent" employees. Like in the US you also have people working multiple part time jobs trying to make it. Some of them recent college graduates. There have been some from Tokyo University who stayed for graduate work because even they fear the job interview/job hunt gauntlet. "Oh they haven't fired me, they just stuck me in an office by myself, don't give me any work to do, and everybody is too embarrassed to talk to me. I'm hoping to find something before I can't stand the isolation and loss of face anymore and quit."

My thought is, the Japanese still deserve kudos for doing something bold that some think (even still) will work
Plus, over the last 23 years since the 1990 crash, Japan has had one key difference from the way the Western countries approached QE, money-printing, Keynesianism, etc
In Japan they kept common working people in a job ... unemployment is still low there ... Yes, they floated the banks, but they 'floated' the common people too, with jobs, incomes and a little spending cash
Like Iceland but unlike in most of the West, with the EU - US massive unemployment or ravaging of the common working person
This leads me to think that Japan will be okay, whatever befalls the yen and the great Abenomics - Kuroda experiment, even if there is economic meltdown ... they will remain more of a community, like Iceland at their low point a few years back
After the Japanese parliamentary elections, as they implement the rest of their programme, who knows ? I say give our Japanese friends a round of applause for bravery - Banzai !
