Don't think a Yen move from 103.75 to 95 is indicative of a very complacent market, a 16 VIX implies daily changes of 1% in the SPX - looks highish to about right.
Eventually this market will crash, but is it from 1561, 1680 or 1950?
complacency - : self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies
I don't believe anyone on ZeroHedge is complacent. I believe that thanks to this site, we are all AWARE of actual dangers or deficiencies. I basically feel like I just lit an M-80. The wick burned down till I don't hear or see anything. Is it ok? Should I kick it? Hell no! I'm not getting near that fricken thing...who knows when it's gonna go off.
I usually follow UVXY a couple times throughout the day, and look at the VIX around mkt close, and it's simply amazing how high a % of the time the VIX daily graph goes from upper left to lower right, ending at the LOD (oftentimes with a literal spike lower).
But Vix is for kids! (used to be a poster on ZH with this name)

Thanks for that.
Volatility is definitely there.
Whether or not the VIX is indicative I'm not sure, but I can feel it in me' bones!
